Watson and bringing Bojan Bogdanovic to the NBA. Mike Mazzeo provides the highlights, led by King's revelation that Johnson wouldn't have played in Games 1 and 2 vs. Miami because of increasing pain due to plantar fasciitis. "It was getting to the point where we were getting diminishing returns," King said. "He's not one to make excuses for himself, but we knew -- I found out...

Quite the storm brewing between Floyd Mayweather, Jr., and the C.J. 'Quietstorm' Watson?

NetsDaily — Well this is an interesting bit of news. According to a police report, as reported by Martin Rogers of Yahoo! Sports, boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr., was involved in a spat with his "former long-term partner," Josie Harris, in which he punched her in front of their kids. So, where do the Nets fit in? Great question. The report shows that the fight started over the discovery of a text message between Ms. Harris and now Brooklyn Nets guard C.J. Watson. From Rogers: The altercation happened when Mayweather returned to Harris' property at 5 a.m. on September 9. Police had already been...

Better know a 2013 NBA free agent: C.J. Watson

Bullets Forever — The Washington Wizards' salary-cap situation is murky, which means they probably won't make any big splashes in free agency. That said, there are some needs on this team that can be filled, so Ernie Grunfeld must look for bargains that can fit into the few exceptions the Wizards have to use. We'll explore all free agents that could take the mid-level exception or less in this ongoing series. Next up: C.J. Watson. Team: Brooklyn Nets. Type: Unrestricted free agent. This past year: Had a decent, if unspectacular year. His minutes were down because he wasn't forced to fill in for an injur...

Momentum shifted after C.J. Watson's miss

Nets Blog | ESPN New York — Different scenario. Different result. With 48 seconds left in the first quarter of Saturday's Game 4 loss, Brooklyn Nets point guard C.J. Watson got a steal at halfcourt, then easily dribbled to the basket and finished a layup at the rim to give his team a 26-21 lead. But with 3:16 remaining in the fourth quarter, Watson missed a two-handed dunk with no one near him that would've given the Nets a 111-95 edge over the Chicago Bulls. You know what happened after that.

Missed dunk sparks Bulls' rally

Nets Blog | ESPN New York — CHICAGO -- It was a missed dunk that will live in infamy, so the Brooklyn Nets’ C.J. Watson didn’t feel it needed much commentary. “I was going to dunk it,” he said. “I was just a little tired but I still shouldn’t have missed it.” What more could be said really? Had Watson known what was coming, he certainly would have made a different decision. Even after the dunk rimmed out, failing to put the nets up 16 points with 3 minutes, 16 seconds remaining, the odds of a collapse still seemed small.

This time, Bulls benefit from C.J. Watson’s blunder

Chicago Sun-Times — Brooklyn Nets guard C.J. Watson is no stranger to playoff meltdowns. Bulls fans are no strangers to watching him go down in flames. In Game 6 of the Bulls’ first-round playoff series last season against the Philadelphia 76ers,  Watson showed some bad decision-making. With the Bulls clinging to a one-point lead and time running out, Watson decided to pass the ball to center Omer Asik, a 45.6 percent free-throw shooter. Asik was fouled and missed both free throws before the 76ers’ Andre Iguodala made a game-winning shot ...

After two good games for Nets, C.J. Watson sputters

Chicago Sun-TimesC.J. Watson, a key member of the Bulls’ “Bench Mob,” had asserted himself as one of the standouts for the Brooklyn Nets through two playoff games. Watson had been third on the team with an average of 12 ppg, and had shot 58.8 percent. “C.J. has had a terrific year for them,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. “So we’re going to have to do a better job against [him].” But in Game 3 at the United Center, Watson struggled in nearly 20 minutes of play, shooting 1-for-7 and finishing with two points Thursday night. Watson shot...

How the Nets wound up relying on their bench in Game 2

Nets Blog | New York Post — You don’t often see teams go with a full complement of bench players in the middle of a close playoff game, but that’s exactly what happened in the second quarter of Game 2 for the Nets. The Nets began the quarter with four bench players – C.J. Watson...

Watson focused on games, not Nate

Chicago Bulls Blog | ESPN Chicago — EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Chicago Bulls point guard Nate Robinson said Monday that he and Brooklyn Nets point guard C.J. Watson don't like each other. "We're just competitors," Robinson said after the Bulls evened their Eastern Conference quarterfinals with the Nets at one game apiece. "I don't like him, he don't like me. That's how it's going to be. There's animosity between the two of us, and for us, that's good." Watson said Wednesday he heard about Robinson's comments when he came into the gym for practice.
