Recap: Denver Nuggets defeat the 76ers 106-98

Huge efforts from Danilo Gallinari, Jamal Murray and Jusuf Nurkic helped Denver earn the road victory The Denver Nuggets had three players in double figures and withstood a late three-point barrage from the Philadelphia 76ers to take the second game of their six game road trip, 106-98. Danilo Gallinari poured in 24 points, many of them from the charity stripe, and Jamal Murray and Will Barton followed with 22 apiece. Jusuf Nurkic had 8 points and 10 boards but more importantly harasses 76ers giant Joel Embiid and the rest of the Philadelphia squad in the paint all night and was a presence...

Nuggets return to action as Miami Heat pay a visit to Pepsi Center

After a few much needed days of rest, the Nuggets are back tonight to play host to the Miami Heat Two full days in between games seems like forever, but for the injury plagued Nuggets this rest has been a wonderful thing after playing the last few games with only 10 available players. In that time, Mike Miller has returned to the team, Juancho Hernangomez has been upgraded to "probable"  and both Danilo Gallinari and Will Barton were able to practice with the team. Gary Harris participated in the non-contact portion of practice as well. Per the Nuggets' game notes, both Gallo and Barton...

Preview: Nuggets vs. Thunder

Russell Westbrook is on a mission this season, and he leads his troops into the mile high city to take on a wounded Nuggets team Friday night. After going 3-1 on their most recent home stand, the Denver Nuggets went into Salt Lake City last Wednesday night on the second night of a back to back. The Utah Jazz had a couple of days to rest up after their loss at Pepsi Center on Sunday, and after losing four in a row, Wednesday night was a must-win. The Nuggets were without their best player in Danilo Gallinari, their best perimeter defender in Gary Harris, and Will Barton remained very hobbled...

Danilo Gallinari sits out for Nuggets in Utah game with thigh injury

The pain in his right thigh finally got to a point where Danilo Gallinari not only couldn’t play, but was even feeling it when he walked. So the decision was made to shut him down Wednesday night rather than play against the Utah Jazz.

Watch: Wilson Chandler scores a season high vs. Suns

In his most impressive performance of the year, Chandler put up 28 points and could not be stopped. The Denver Nuggets earned their first victory within the confines of the Pepsi Center this season, and it had everything to do with the play of the veterans, most notably Wilson Chandler. Chandler amassed 28 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and grabbed a steal and a block for good measure. This was clearly Chandler’s best performance of the season. On both ends, he served as a versatile piece in Michael Malone’s scheme, playing mostly power forward next to Danilo Gallinari. This is by far...

Recap: Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried power the Denver Nuggets to a 120-104 victory over the Phoenix Suns

No youth movement tonight, Denver’s vets get it done at home. The Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns came into tonight reeling on both sides. Each team was desperate for a win. The Nuggets relied on their veterans, particularly Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler and through them they were able to dominate throughout the game. The Suns tried to make a game of it in the fourth quarter but the vets strong play was able to overcome the last gasp effort from Phoenix. In the end the Nuggets go wire to wire and finally get that elusive home victory 120-104. The game opened...

Denver Nuggets Tweet of the Week: Danilo Gallinari welcomes back an old friend

Guess who dropped by to visit the Nuggets this week? Any die-hard Denver Nuggets fan knows who Jim Gillen is. He was the the team's trainer for 23 years from 1991 to 2014, and during his time with the Nuggets he became known for his unique trademarks and his unmatched commitment to his profession. These traits made him an extremely likable personality in Denver, and an easy target for well-intentioned jokes. For instance, his mustache gave reason for Danilo Gallinari and others to nickname him The Lorax. And who could forget those sweater vests? In fact, the team honored him during his last...

Recap: Denver falls to Memphis, 108-107

The Nuggets blow another game in the final seconds, forgetting execution and leaving another victory on the cutting room floor. That’s one way to throw a game away. The Nuggets are experimenting with all sorts of ways to do that, but several last-second blunders snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as Denver lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on a buzzer-beater, 108-107. Emmanuel Mudiay had 23 points and 7 assists, but his 7 turnovers helped blow the game. Danilo Gallinari put in 21 but was a non-factor at the end of the contest. Vince Carter let the Grizzlies with 20 points, Zach...

Stat of the Week: Drawing fouls

The Denver Nuggets employ some of the best players in the NBA at drawing fouls. This week’s edition of the Stat of the Week focuses on the ability to draw personal fouls. The Nuggets have six players that shoot an average of 3.5 free throws per contest, but three I will focus on specifically are Danilo Gallinari, Jusuf Nurkic, and Emmanuel Mudiay. All three players are skilled in different ways, but one of the most underrated tools in the tool belt for each player is the ability to get to the free throw line. Matt Femrite of Nylon Calculus picked up on this during the middle of last week...
