Open Thread: The Spurs hiccup could be less about DeMar DeRozan

Open Thread: The Spurs hiccup could be less about DeMar DeRozan

What Rudy Gay’s probability in Dallas does to the starting line-up The Spurs starting line-ups have been very telling of the injury situation in San Antonio this season. For starters, there is no Dejounte Murray. It’s been so long since we’ve seen him play that I now have to remind myself that he is in fact still on the roster. At the top of games on Fox Sports Southwest, Bill Land no longer even mentions it during the Methodist Healthcare injury report. He’s still there in the graphic, but unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re already in the know. So now you have Bryn...

The Spurs hit their first 14 three-pointers against the Thunder

The Spurs hit their first 14 three-pointers against the Thunder

The Spurs are red-hot tonight! Led by a red-hot Marco Belinelli, the Spurs hit their first 14 threes of the game, including going 10-10 in the first half, an NBA-best for any half over the last 20 years. It was the most threes the Spurs had opened a game hitting since they hit their first 11 against the Kings in 2002. Belinelli hit 5-5, including three straight off steals in a 90-second span late in the first quarter, along with two from Patty Mills, three from Davis Bertans. Squad went 10/10 from DEEP in the first half. #GoSpursGo pic.twitter.com/MEgnOct412— San Antonio Spurs...

Apparently good offenses CAN be built around the mid-range

Apparently good offenses CAN be built around the mid-range

Who needs Kawhi and threes when you have The System? Not too long ago, there was a growing concern that the current iteration of the Spurs weren’t going to be good enough for. . .anything. After a blockbuster summer trade sent their two best defenders (one also being their MVP on offense) to Toronto, the Spurs initially struggled. The defense was horrible, especially after Dejounte Murray was lost for the season to a torn ACL, and the offense leaned too heavily on DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, and at times Rudy Gay to produce. A brutal November schedule with little room for...

Open Thread: Spurs beat Toronto Raptors and Pop takes #4 on the countdown

A high-energy homecoming is the way to start 2019. I’m not going to lie, although I liked using a picture of Danny Green in his NBA Championship #4, I really wanted to use a picture of Derrick White. Don’t get me wrong, Danny is great. A true Spur and an integral piece in the Spurs successes. Had the Spurs won the 2013 NBA Finals, Danny Green would have most definitely been named the MVP. But that was then, and this is now. Currently, I find White to be the most exciting player on the Spurs. His style and flair paired with this unassuming personality makes me think he, Dejounte Murray,...

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and Toronto Raptors star Kawhi Leonard shared a nice embrace after Thursday night’s game between the two teams at AT&T Center. Much was made of Leonard’s return trip to San Antonio, and it was the Spurs that ran away with a convincing 125-107 victory to move to 22-17 […] The post Video: Kawhi Leonard, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich embrace after game appeared first on ClutchPoints.

San Antonio at Denver, Final Score: Bad FT shooting stifles Spurs rally in 102-99 loss to Nuggets

San Antonio at Denver, Final Score: Bad FT shooting stifles Spurs rally in 102-99 loss to Nuggets

An unusually bad night at the line kills Spurs rally in Denver. After a sluggish first half in the Mile High City, the San Antonio Spurs made a mad rally back into the game thanks to a strong defensive effort in the second half led by Derrick White, but they could never quite get back over the hump largely thanks to some horrendous free throw shooting in a 102-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs with 24 points, while White scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists in front of his home town. Jamal Murray scored 31 for points, followed by 21...

Open Thread: Spurs Mural Tour- Rudy’s Seafood

Part 2- The Active Spurs As mentioned yesterday, there are so many murals at Rudy Seafood on Flores St., my daughter and I had to break it down into two parts. The first player who she acknowledged by name was Patty Mills. It warmed my heart. She has since added DeMar DeRozan to her repertoire. Lucky for fans, #10 is a current addition painted over a player who is not longer on the team. And for new fans of the Spurs, you may be missing Dejounte Murray. But hopefully not for long. The Spurs defensive stalwart will hopefully return next summer to fill the...
