Bulls vs. Wizards game preview, injury report, lineups

After their worst game of the season on Wednesday, the Bulls try and bounce back in Washington. Let's be honest with ourselves: we should have seen Wednesday coming. Three wins despite poor play, culminating in a big fourth quarter against Houston, followed by days off on either side of a lottery-team matchup at home? With a playoff rematch at Washington looming? That's one whopper of a trap game. Sure, you can look at the ongoing trends, like Derrick Rose's 30.0 eFG% for January, but why do that when you can pass the whole thing off as a schedule loss, and get ready for Friday Night Ball...

Derrick Rose ready for matchup vs. John Wall

WASHINGTON --- Just after conceding that John Wall is "probably" faster than him, Derrick Rose offered an apt description of the Wizards' guard.

Derrick Rose sits out White House visit

WASHINGTON -- The Chicago Bulls took a tour of The White House on Thursday night, but Derrick Rose was not a part of it. Rose said he was upset about missing the tour, but wanted to get rest and treatment. "It was more of, this is a business trip," Rose said. "And I took it that way. Don't get me wrong, any visit to The White House is great. But I took this trip as a business trip and just resting and getting off my feet." Many of the Bulls took to social media to show pictures from their tour.

Rose, Wall excited about point-guard battle

WASHINGTON -- In advance of Friday night's showdown with the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose believes the NBA is in the middle of a point guard renaissance. "This is like the point guard era," Rose said after the Bulls' shootaround on Friday morning. "Every guard that you play against, no matter what team they're on, you're playing against great guards no matter what. No matter if they're in the East or the West, and the East is more younger guards, but they're still trying to make a name for themselves.

Utah Jazz: Trey Burke rebounds while Rose struggles

Chicago • Trey Burke missed Monday’s game against the Pacers with strep throat. At shootaround Wednesday morning, the Jazz point guard was still feeling sick and tired. But it hardly showed on the floor that night. Back in the starting lineup, the Burke scored 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Burke’s counterpart, however, struggled mightily. Derrick Rose missed his first 10 shots and finished 3 of 15 from the floor. “It’s basketball,” Rose said afterward. “Shots aren’t going to fall. It’s just pa...

Amid career-worst slump, Rose undeterred

CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose remains confident despite being in the worst shooting slump of his professional career. Rose was just 3-for-15 from the field in the Chicago Bulls' 97-77 loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. He is now 28-for-110 from the field over his last six games, the worst stretch of his career according to ESPN Stats and Information. "I'm not worried about that at all," he said. "That's the last thing I'm worried about. It's just that as far as a team, it's just that everybody has to be on the same page as far as bringing that energy to the game.

Rose not worried about shooting 'slump'

CHICAGO – Despite missing nearly two full seasons with knee issues, Derrick Rose does not want to be babied, so he was direct Tuesday when taking about his recent lackluster shooting exhibitions. Going 2-of-15 from the field Dec. 30 against the Brooklyn Nets over 28 minutes was the low point, although he has been just 25-of-95 (26 percent) over the last five games, a stretch that started Dec. 29 at Indiana. “It was a slump,” Rose said bluntly.

Bulls Outlast Celtics

With Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy Jr. out, the Bulls hung on for an ugly overtime win. This game started sloppy, as the Bulls and Celtics combined for 12 turnovers in the first 7 minutes of game time. It didn't really get much better as the game went on. If there was ever a game to point to in support of the murmurings about Jimmy Butler possibly being an MVP candidate, this game was it. The Bulls looked absolutely lost and listless for much of the night. This began, first and foremost, with Derrick Rose. Rose shot 5 of 18 from the field and 1 of 4 from behind the arc. Despite playing 34...

Who should be the Bulls' go-to closer?

Derrick Rose has been the Bulls' go-to guy in winning time in the past, but Jimmy Butler has been a capable clutch player as well this season. Mired in one of the worst slumps I can remember a star player having, Derrick Rose came up big down the stretch against the Nuggets on Thursday night. Rose scored 13 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, going 5-of-11 from the field to salvage what had been a horrid shooting night in the first three quarters. Rose has come up big in the clutch several times in the past few weeks. In addition to closing out the Nuggets, he effectively shut the door...
