Rose: It will be 'weird' to face Jabari

MILWAUKEE -- Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is excited about facing fellow Simeon Career Academy alum, and Milwaukee Bucks rookie, Jabari Parker, for the first time as a professional Saturday night, but Rose admits that it's going to be a 'weird' experience. "It's going to be weird at first," Rose told ESPNChicago.com after Saturday's shootaround. "I've never been on the court with him. But at the same time, it should be exciting. I haven't seen none of their games, I haven't seen him play in a long time because I just haven't been watching film like that or I haven't been watching games...

Derrick Rose back at practice 'doing well'

CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose practiced on Friday after sitting out Thursday's practice because of lower body soreness, according to Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. "He practiced," Thibodeau said. "He's doing well." Rose is expected to play Saturday when the Bulls take on the Milwaukee Bucks. Thibodeau was non-committal regarding exactly how much Rose would play. Rose played 14 minutes in the Bulls' first two preseason games earlier this week. Parker on the horizon: Saturday's game against the Bucks marks the first time Thibodeau will see Chicago product Jabari Parker in NBA action.

Derrick Rose sits out Bulls practice

Derrick Rose was held out of Bulls practice on Thursday, but before panic begins, it was a planned day off. The 2011 MVP had “general lower body soreness’’ after playing in back-to-back preseason games on Monday and Tuesday. According to coach Tom Thibodeau, Rose was still scheduled to practice on Friday, and play the five preseason games the team has over the next eight days. “Yeah, if he can go, he’ll play,’’ Thibodeau said. “Just take it day by...

Bulls give Derrick Rose a day off

CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose did not practice Thursday after being given a rest day for lower body soreness, according to Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. Rose, who has played in both preseason games, has looked aggressive, albeit a little rusty, as he makes his way back from a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. Teammates have been impressed by his play and Thibodeau didn't sound concerned about his status. "He's got a little soreness," Thibodeau said.

Derrick Rose: It's all coming together

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Derrick Rose continues to feel good about his progress as he makes his way back from knee surgery yet again. The former MVP said he had no soreness after playing in his second consecutive game against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, and he is confident in how his game is progressing. "It's all just coming to me," Rose said. "I wouldn't say there's one area that's better than another. It just takes playing. Going out there and actually getting game-time minutes under your belt.

Derrick Rose has no FGs, but finds silver lining in Bulls’ OT loss

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Derrick Rose didn’t connect on a field goal Tuesday night, which might be reason to panic if it were a regular-season game. But in the Bulls’ 111-109 overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills — their second of back-to-back preseason games — the location of Rose’s shots was far more important and telling than any preseason point total. Eight free-throw attempts — the result of penetrating the paint...

Derrick Rose has no field goals, six points in Bulls’ OT loss

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.—Derrick Rose didn’t connect on a field goal Tuesday night, which would cause reason to panic if it were a regular-season game. But when the Bulls lost 111-109 in overtime to the Pistons in the second of back to back preseason games Tuesday at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the location of Rose’s shots was entirely more telling of how quickly his game has returned. Even more so, his six free-throws made were proof Tuesday that any fear that he...

Bulls vs. Pistons preseason final score: Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler shine in Bulls loss

With Joakim Noah sitting this one out and Derrick Rose only playing 14 minutes, the second preseason game of the season was very likely not to provide much entertainment. And it really struggled to, as the Bulls went though extended garbage time and eventually losing to the Detroit Pistons in OT, a scenario which should be illegal during the preseason. Leading off with Rose: he did not have close to the red-hot start that opened up his preseason, as he didn't make a single field goal in his time on the floor. He was still aggressive though and didn't look slowed, just was not able to look...

Derrick Rose says his shot ‘can’t get any worse’

Hours before tonight’s preseason tip-off against Washington, Derrick Rose acknowledged that playing for USA Basketball this summer might have been the low-point of his career on the court.

Derrick Rose on his Team USA shooting: Can't get any worse

CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose insists he isn't feeling any extra pressure as he gets ready to don a Chicago Bulls uniform at the United Center for the first time in almost a year during Monday night's preseason opener against the Washington Wizards. "I'm not that anxious," Rose said after Monday's shootaround. "I think playing in the USA games calmed my nerves a little bit. So I'm just ready to play. I've been preparing for this for a long time and ya'll should be able to see it.

First exhibition might provide hint of Bulls’ ‘finishing’ five

The primary goal for Derrick Rose in the Bulls’ preseason opener Monday night against the Washington Wizards is simple: Play some valuable minutes and get out of the game upright and limp-free. Actually, Rose isn’t even high on the list of coach Tom Thibodeau’s concerns. Watching Rose compete with Team USA in the FIBA World Cup answered a lot of questions that Thibodeau and the organization might have had about their star point guard. The preseason is just...

Rose: We have a dangerous team

CHICAGO -- Without Derrick Rose for much of the last two years, the Chicago Bulls ran a slow, plodding offense. Veteran coach Tom Thibodeau knew he didn't have the type of explosive offensive pieces to move quickly up and down the floor. But this season, with Rose and big men like Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol leading the way, Thibodeau has a few more options in his repertoire. "We've been playing kind of fast," Rose said. "And Pau and Jo, they don't care if me and Jimmy Butler) or (Mike (Dunleavy) push the ball.

Bulls’ Derrick Rose getting re-educated on NBA contact

Tom Thibodeau’s word of the day Saturday: Physicality. Specifically, Derrick Rose finding it again, and the Bulls’ young players still trying to understand it. Thibodeau said Day 4 of training camp was one of Rose’s best as he continued to take on normal NBA contact, accept it and improve. ‘‘He’ll be able to handle it,’’ Thibodeau said. ‘‘He just has to get used to it again. That’s why the USA Basketball stuff was so important, to get used to...
