Earl Clark, back in the NBA playoffs, hoping for a chance to shine

Joe Johnson has gone to the playoffs eight straight seasons. Most people know that. But who's second on the Nets in terms of consecutive trips to the post-season. Earl Clark, who's back for his fifth straight. He's been used sparingly but it's all part of his long, strange hoops journey. When the underachieving Los Angeles Lakers rolled into Barclays Center in February of 2013, starting introductions included three future Hall of Famers in Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol, a 20,000 point scorer in veteran Antwan Jamison and a guy named Earl Clark. The introductions also marked the...

Film Study: Earl Clark's first impression

It was only 11 minutes and 14 seconds but that was all Earl Clark, signed by the Nets hours before, needed to make an impact on Friday's game against the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers. A win that the Nets needed to keep pace with the teams on all sides of them in the playoff race. "We didn’t go over one play," Clark admitted post-game with a smile. "I had no idea what was going on." Clark didn't see action until the second half, but he came in and made a big hit. There was definitely some nervous energy from the 6"10' forward on defense ... some happy feet defending Kevin Love ... but he...

Final score: Jarrett Jack and Earl Clark exact revenge, Nets top Cavs 106-98

This was silly. The Brooklyn Nets had won five of seven coming into the night, and didn't slow down against the Cavs tonight. They protected their homecourt and kept playoff hopes alive with a 106-98 win. Jarrett Jack and Earl Clark received over $10 million in compensation from the Cavaliers last year. The Cavs gave up a first round draft pick just to shed Jack's contract over the summer. Sure, the team wanted room for LeBron James. The team also wanted room between themselves and Jarrett Jack. He was great against the Cavs tonight, providing offense with his patented, and bewildering,...
