Houston Rockets forward/center Ryan Anderson (illness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat. What It Means: Corey Brewer will start in place of Anderson, whose absence will also create more offensive opportunities for James Harden and Eric Gordon. Anderson should be considered questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite the starting nod going to Brewer, our models are high on Trevor Ariza tonight, projecting him for 14.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.9 3-pointers in 37.0 minutes of...

Eric Gordon's sprained left big toe was not normal on Friday and neither was the pace and 3-point rhythm of the Houston Rockets. Pace and rhythm returned in a big way for the Rockets, who also mixed in effective second-half defense against the worst team in the league. Gordon scored 24 points, James Harden recorded his 12th triple-double of the season with 22 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds as Houston snapped its first losing streak of the season with a 137-112 rout of the Brooklyn Nets Sunday night.

Rockets have a plan for life without Eric Gordon

Rockets have a plan for life without Eric Gordon

They’ll be without the guard again in Minnesota. Life without Eric Gordon is a very scary thought. Yet the Houston Rockets had to deal with that exact situation Tuesday night. Gordon going into the matchup with Charlotte Hornets was a game-time decision and he'd end up not playing, sitting out with a sprained left big toe. With Tuesday being just the first game of the year that Gordon has missed, the Rockets haven't had the need to develop a backup plan. Before the game, Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni was asked by the media if K.J. McDaniels or Tyler Ennis would get a bump in minutes...

Eric Gordon (toe) not playing in Rockets' matchup with Minnesota

Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon (left big toe) will not play Wednesday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. What It Means: Gordon also sat out Tuesday's contest against the Charlotte Hornets and should be considered questionable for Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies after he didn't travel with the team. James Harden will be even busier than usual -- he finished with 40 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists on Tuesday -- and Corey Brewer should also benefit. Brewer is projected to turn in 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 25.6 minutes against the...

Rockets' Eric Gordon (toe) still questionable against Charlotte

Less is more: How Trevor Ariza has been revived this year

Less is more: How Trevor Ariza has been revived this year

Trevor Ariza is less involved this season, and that’s been good for both him and Rockets. One of the biggest changes we were hoping to see this season for the Rockets was a slight reduction in the responsibilities of Trevor Ariza. With no other real perimeter threats last year, Ariza was forced into heavy minutes and a big workload on both sides of the ball, and it didn’t work out as well as anyone would have hoped. That’s changed this year. With the help the Rockets have gotten for Ariza in the form of Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon, the 31-year-old veteran has seen both his minutes...

Eric Gordon wants in the All-Star 3-point contest

He should get there, too. Eric Gordon this season has hit a ton of three-pointers. In fact, the Houston Rockets sharpshooter has made 136 threes, the most in the NBA, all while mostly coming off the bench. Yes, that's right: not even Stephen Curry has made more threes than the Rockets guard. With All-Star weekend just a little over a month away, Gordon made it known Monday night he's interested in heading to New Orleans for the sharpshooting contest. After scoring 31 points while going 6/12 from downtown in the Houston Rockets 101-91 win over the Washington Wizards, Gordon told the media...
