Utah Jazz guard/forward Joe Ingles and guard/forward Joe Johnson are both starting against the Cleveland Cavaliers. What It Means: They will join George Hill, Gordon Hayward and Rudy Gobert in the first unit as Utah goes small with Rodney Hood (knee) and Derrick Favors (knee) both unavailable. Ingles is averaging 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.1 3-pointers per game in 18 starts this season, making him a slightly better fantasy play than Johnson. Ingles costs $4,000 on FanDuel and our models believe he'll score 18.5 fantasy points (FP) versus the...

Jazz vs. Pacers: Game thread, lineups, odds, TV info and more

The Pacers face some familiar faces and a tough foe when the Jazz visit the Fieldhouse on Monday night. The Pacers normally bounce back pretty well after a lackluster performance but that trend will be tested on Monday night when they host the Utah Jazz after taking a 25-point loss in Toronto on Sunday. The Jazz have been in Indy for a couple of days and are looking to bounce back from losing their last two game in Cleveland and Chicago. Oh, and George Hill will make his return to BLF with the Jazz who beat the Pacers in Salt Lake City, 109-100 in January. Hill scored what was then a...

The Magic of Sample Size and which five Utah Jazz players should be on the court more

The Magic of Sample Size and which five Utah Jazz players should be on the court more

A quick look at on-court and off-court values I’m going to cut to the chase, the Utah Jazz have three really good players playing very well right now: All-Star forward Gordon Hayward, possible Defensive Player of the Year center Rudy Gobert, and former Player of the Week point guard George Hill. Beyond those three the team has more depth than any previous Jazz team ever. But what’s hard is figuring out which players should be on the court together more. Instead of being smart and looking at 5 Man line-up data I just looked at the difference between +/- for the team when a guy is on or...

The key piece for the Utah Jazz all season has been George Hill. He’s played the best basketball of his career and by all accounts loves Utah. But what happens when other teams offer max money? Utah Jazz: Dante Exum’s Stellar Play Creates A Problem For Front Office

Dante Exum is coming off a career-high 22 points in Saturday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. This performance has exemplified his stellar play of late and if this continues, it could force Utah Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey to make big moves this offseason. After the Jazz failed to strike a deal with George Hill […] Utah Jazz: Dante Exum’s Stellar Play Creates A Problem For Front Office - Purple and Blues - Purple and Blues - A Utah Jazz Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Under water for most of the season the Utah Jazz are now a devastating submarine no team wants to face

Under water for most of the season the Utah Jazz are now a devastating submarine no team wants to face

The Utah Jazz have weathered the storm, eye smooth sailing towards the playoffs Remarkably the Utah Jazz are 4th in the Western Conference right now. That’s a team with one new starter (George Hill), and two new rotation guys (Joe Johnson, Boris Diaw) who were added in the off-season to help bolster the emerging stars Gordon Hayward and Rudy Gobert. In the off-season lots of people were quick to point out that this team could be good. But the reality today is that now that they are healthy and playing well . . . well . . . this team could be great. One thing is true, their play of late...

Derrick Favors (knee), George Hill (toe) questionable Saturday for Jazz

Utah Jazz forward/center Derrick Favors (knee) and guard George Hill (toe) are questionable against Oklahoma City on Saturday night. What It Means: The Jazz are going to be cautious with Favors, who has been battling injury throughout the majority of the season and said on Twitter that he's currently playing on one leg. Look for Joe Johnson to start again if Favors sits. Hill has missed the past two contests. Favors is sixth on the Jazz with a 0.7 nERD this season while Hill comes in third with a 5.7 nERD.
