Drummond and Monroe both have USA Basketball team experience at the youth level. Drummond was a member of the 2010 U17 and 2009 U16 World Championship gold medal teams. Monroe was a member of the 2008 USA Basketball Junior National Select Team that competed in the annual Nike Hoop Summit and also partic...

"A bird in hand is better than two in the bush." This proverb rings especially true for the NBA draft, although the proportion is a bit more dramatic. General managers, scouts, media personalities and fans often overvalue draft prospects when compared to existing NBA talent, and the 2013 NBA Draft is no different. Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press recently joined the club by suggesting that a draft selection of Cody Zeller could make Detroit's Greg Monroe expendable, and that the latter should be traded in turn: Zeller would have a higher upside than Monroe at a much cheaper pri...

Monroe got more than 54 percent of the 730 votes cast and 74 readers said nobody was the MVP for a team that finished 29-53 and has losing streaks of eight and 10 games.

Greg Monroe received a single vote in the Most Improved Player balloting, a second-place vote, which gave him three total points and left him ranked 21st among the 33 nominees. This was not an improvement upon where he finished last season in the voting (4th) and, due to how he played this season, it's curious why he received a vote at all (although maybe not as curious as receiving a third place 2012 Defensive Player of the Year vote). Monroe was good again, don't get me wrong, but he barely improved upon last year's marks. In fact, most might argue that he suffered a setback offensi...
