Rufus on Fire I suppose it's a bit of a misnomer to call this a season recap since Josh McRoberts only played 26 games for the Bobcats this year. He arrived in the blockbuster trade deadline deal that sent Hakim Warrick on a quick route to the waiver wire. Still, his impact has overwhelmingly been a positive one. Season Analysis I could just copy and paste much of the post I wrote about a month ago for this season review of McRoberts, couldn't I? For those who don't like to read, the basic premise is this: Because of McRobert's versatility as an active player with solid ballhandling, passing and sho...

Rufus on Fire Trading for Josh McRoberts didn't exactly set the NBA universe on fire or crash any servers. Though not the blockbuster trade anyone had hoped for, the minor tweak was not pointless roster reshuffling. Charlotte flipped a mostly useless Hakim Warrick for a player with a smaller contract and more diverse skill set. The Bobcats didn't need to make the move. Prorating the yearly salaries for the last few months of the season barely saves the team all that much money, regardless. In a move that essentially turned Matt Carroll into McRoberts, the Bobcats made their team better. Carroll and ...

Orlando Pinstriped Post The Orlando Magic announced Saturday afternoon that the three players it acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks in Thursday's trade are cleared to practice and to play, meaning that Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb, and Beno Udrih will be available and in uniform Saturday when Orlando hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers. Further, the team has requested waivers on Hakim Warrick, the veteran power forward it acquired from the Charlotte Bobcats on Thursday in exchange for Josh McRoberts. Warrick was never in the team's plans. Harris, Lamb, and Udrih were not with the team for its game against the Memphis ...

Rufus on Fire The Bobcats had nothing to lose with this trade. It may not have returned them first round picks or young stars, but it will succeed in losing them nothing. The salaries actually weigh out to save the Bobcats a few hundred thousand dollars (after salaries are prorated for the remaining time) and it lasts only until the end of this season so nothing risked on this end. Hakim Warrick found himself in and out of favor during his short stint in Charlotte, arriving in a trade with New Orleans for Matt Carroll. Initially he saw little playing time but after Tyrus Thomas and Byron Mullens had...

February 21, 2013Inside the NBA | Charlotte Observer The Charlotte Bobcats did a deal at the trade deadline, but it won’t exactly change the course of the franchise. Rufus on Fire With clock striking 3 p.m. on the Eastern side of the United States, the trade deadline has arrived. Though it seemed the Bobcats would stand pat, they have traded Hakim Warrick for Josh McRoberts, Rick Bonnell reports. The deal was reported as a three-way trade between Charlotte, Orlando and Milwaukee but this is not the case. The other deal between Orlando and Milwaukee sent J.J. Redick in a six-player trade. Duke alumni abound! As far as the financials are concerned, the Bobcats save a little bit of money, going from Warrick's $4 million salary to McRoberts' $3.135 million expiring ...

Rufus on Fire Jeff Adrien will start at power forward tonight against the Bulls, replacing Hakim Warrick, per Charlotte Bobcats PR. Warrick has been rather ineffective lately (well, most times, really). His shooting on season has fallen below 40 percent, his rebounding percentages are worse than Tyrus Thomas's and he's a very poor defender. Adrien is no Blake Griffin, but he's been a good signing so far. His rebounding percentages are some of the best on the team and he scores more efficiently than Warrick or Thomas. He also defends better than Warrick, blocks more shots and doesn't use nearly as ma...
