Mavericks win preseason dress rehearsal incognito; defeat Magic 117-92

Chandler Parsons and Jameer Nelson return home to Orlando to help win the final preseason game. Tonight the Mavs went into Orlando and paved the Magic 117-90 in what worked as a dress rehearsal game. The game wasn't televised, but I'm here to recap it anyways. Chandler Parsons spearheaded the offensive assault on Orlando with 24 points including a 15-point third quarter. Dirk had 16 points all in the first half including four three-pointers. The offense fired on all cylinders with contributions from the entire roster. The game was a homecoming of sorts for Jameer Nelson and Chandler...

Jameer Nelson grateful Magic let him go to a winner

Ten years into his career, winning matters much more to Jameer Nelson than money. That’s why Nelson was grateful to be waived by the Orlando Magic this summer. Nelson was due to make $8 million this season in the final year of his contract with the Magic, but only $2 million of it was guaranteed. Orlando opted to save the money and allow Nelson, a loyal leader the franchise honored with a billboard after cutting ties with him, to search for an opportunity to join a contender.

Jameer Nelson eager to make homecoming in Orlando

Point guard Jameer Nelson, one of the seven Dallas Maverick rotation players who sat out the 88-85 loss to New Orleans in Bossier City, La., Thursday, will return to Orlando Friday for the first time after ending his 10-year run …

Mavericks' Jameer Nelson prepares to return to Orlando

Jameer Nelson wonders what Friday night will feel like.

Jameer Nelson: 'I just have to be aggressive'

DALLAS – Just be Jameer Nelson. That’s the job description for the new Dallas Mavericks starting point guard in the simplest terms. The Mavs signed Nelson because they wanted a smart, tough floor leader who could provide some penetration, knock down open shots and get the ball where it needed to go. That’s what Nelson did throughout his 10-year tenure with the Orlando Magic. But Nelson is in the beginning stages of a major transition.

Jameer Nelson: Mavericks starting PG and underrated stud

Jameer Nelson brings quite a bit to the Mavericks' backcourt, not the least of which is his stellar passing game. The Mavericks made quite a few big moves in NBA free agency this summer, none bigger than stealing Chandler Parsons away from Houston and trading to bring back Tyson Chandler. Beyond the two Chandler deals, though, a signee who is flying below the radar could have the biggest impact on the Mavs this season. I'm talking, of course, about Jameer Nelson. Nelson is a 10-year veteran in the NBA, and has spent his entire career to this point with the Orlando Magic. As Orlando's...

Rick Carlisle: Jameer Nelson a 'natural leader'

DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks haven’t officially named a starting point guard, but Jameer Nelson wearing white during the first practice of training camp provides a pretty good hint at the direction they’re leaning. As do coach Rick Carlisle’s comments about the intangible qualities that Nelson brings to Dallas after a decade in Orlando. Carlisle sounds a lot like he did when he discussed Tyson Chandler when the big man first joined the Mavs four years ago.
