Chris Paul Could Be Out For A Month

Chris Paul’s knee “soreness” could be worse than thought. Rockets eyeing veteran Jameer Nelson. Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul could be out for up to a month with the knee injury that kept him out on Wednesday. With only 14 players currently on the roster rumors have the Rockets discussing a contract with veteran point guard Jameer Nelson. Paul could be seen limping near the conclusion of Tuesday’s win over the Golden State Warriors and spent the final five minutes of the slugfest on the bench. There’s no report of serious knee damage or the need for surgery, instead...

Roundtable: Reacting to the Denver Nuggets season opener

Roundtable: Reacting to the Denver Nuggets season opener

What...What happened? Richard Jefferson is in and Jameer Nelson is out, good move? Ashley Douglas (@AshleyNBAHoops): Overall, I think Nelson’s time in the NBA is probably drawing to a close. However, it’s tough to say if this is a good move or not. I am not a proponent of having Nelson start, but I don’t think Jamal Murray and Emmanuel Mudiay are quite ready to take the Denver Nuggets to a playoff position. I think some veteran experience in that role off the bench would’ve been helpful for at least one more season. That said, the Nuggets do need some more options at small forward...

An appreciation of Jameer Nelson

Jameer Nelson was waived today by the Denver Nuggets, ending a tenure marked by his competitive nature and drive to succeed. It’s not every day a 13-year veteran of the NBA has to say goodbye to the city of Denver twice, but that day has come for Jameer Nelson, who was waived by the team to make room for the newly-signed Richard Jefferson. Sources: Veteran point guard Jameer Nelson has been released by Denver, clears free agency waivers Friday.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) October 18, 2017 Nelson was originally selected by the Nuggets in the 2004 draft, but was dealt on draft...

Roundtable: Denver Nuggets final preseason thoughts and looking ahead

A look at the last two preseason losses and what the Nuggets will do next. List your ideal point guard rotation after seeing the players in action with two sentences to back up your choices. Daniel Lewis (@minutemandan): I’m happy to be proven wrong about Jameer Nelson starting, it seems like Jamal Murray earned that role and Nelson will be the backup. Murray offers the floor spacing that will elevate the starting unit, and is seemingly up to the challenge on defense. Nelson is a better off-ball guard than Emmanuel Mudiay, and Will Barton will likely have a big role leading the offense...

Stiffs Roundtable: Preseason reactions and favorite players

A look at what three preseason games means for Denver Who do you want to be the starting point guard, Emmanuel Mudiay, Jamal Murray or Jameer Nelson? Ryan Blackburn (@RyanBlackburn9): Jamal Murray. The Nuggets saw (and have seen this year) a bright future for Jamal Murray. He provides the most spacing, the most defense, and the right amount of firepower in the starting lineup. Emmanuel Mudiay also fits very well with the bench, as that group needs someone they can defer to at times, as long as Kenneth Faried-Mason Plumlee isn’t the big man bench combo. If the goal is to really make noise...

Game Thread: Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers - October 4th 2017

Game 2 of the best-of-seven...wait: preseason? The Denver Nuggets look to maintain their perfect preseason and continue to tune up the roster tonight with a rematch against the Los Angeles Lakers. None of the four established starters will play, but Jameer Nelson re-enters the lineup. Wilson Chandler (hip), Gary Harris (shoulder), Nikola Jokic (elbow), and Paul Millsap (rest) will not play in tonight’s game. #Nuggets— Chris Dempsey (@chrisadempsey) October 4, 2017 This Nuggets team will be quite different from the one we’ve seen so far this preseason, and players like Malik...

Roundtable: What to watch for during Denver Nuggets training camp and preseason

Who’s the starting PG, who’s the backup PF? Jamal Murray, Emmanuel Mudiay or Jameer Nelson, who ya got as the starting point guard opening night? Zach Mikash (@ZachMikash): Gonna go with Murray. Either he or Emmanuel is the future at point guard and it seems like he’s got the leg up early on. With a clean bill of health I think he’s got the ability to win this job outright in pre-season. Daniel Lewis (@minutemandan): I’m going to pick Jameer Nelson. The Denver Nuggets goal is to win games this season, and lots of them hopefully, and in my opinion, no point guard helps them...

Listen: Malone interview post-practice on 9/28

"Every facet of Emmanuel's game looks improved." Michael Malone gave a recap of the first couple of days of practice for the Denver Nuggets tonight. Jameer Nelson hurt his toe in the first practice and Malone confirms in this audio that Nelson will almost certainly not play Saturday against the Golden State Warriors. That provides plenty of reps at point guard for both Jamal Murray and Emmanuel Mudiay, both of whom need them badly. "Every facet of Emmanuel's game looks improved," said Malone, and that makes the competition even more interesting. Malone’s list of improvements that can...

Listen: Nikola Jokić interview

Nikola Jokić gives his thoughts on Paul Millsap, Jameer Nelson’s leadership, Serbia, and his horse. During Denver Nuggets media day, the media was able to pull aside Nikola Jokic for an interview, one of the first times he’s spoken to the media since the end of last season. Ranging from the improvements he and others must make, to leadership on the team, to the addition of All-Star Paul Millsap, to his interactions with Serbian fans, Jokić opened up on a variety of topics. One of the interesting takeaways from this interview is how much Jokić looks to Jameer Nelson as a leader....
