NBA free agency 2014: Orlando Magic waive Jason Maxiell

The veteran big man played sparingly in his only Orlando season. The Orlando Magic have announced they've waived Jason Maxiell. Maxiell, a 6-foot-7 big man, signed a two-year deal with the Magic as a free agent in the summer of 2013. The second year of that contract was fully unguaranteed unless Maxiell remained on the roster on July 10th. As such, Orlando realized $2.5 million in salary-cap savings by parting ways with the Cincinnati product.
