Jayson Tatum continued his steady rise in sophomore season

Jayson Tatum continued his steady rise in sophomore season

Many people were upset that Jayson Tatum did not make a bigger jump into his second season, but the numbers show that he is still right on pace for greatness. Jayson Tatum entered his second season in the NBA with a world of confidence. He was coming off a strong playoff performance averaging 18.5 points. Tatum took over and was a major part of the Celtics’ success making it to the Eastern Conference Finals without Kyrie Irving or Gordon Hayward. Even as it was an unfortunate Game 7 result to Cleveland Cavaliers, Tatum still was able to end his rookie season on a personal high-note...

Don’t panic: Celtics’ youth movement is doing just fine

Marcus Smart and the Jays are still trending in the right direction. In what many will view as a lost season, the Boston Celtics’ young core took meaningful strides forward that deserve recognition. None of the young core of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Marcus Smart have made “the leap” that people often expect high lottery picks to make, but that shouldn’t cause any panic over the team’s future. While the current roster is a little dysfunctional, my faith in the team’s direction is unwavering and my thoughts on the youth movement is unchanged. Let them grow together....

Is Jaylen Brown the Celtics’ best prospect?

Is Jaylen Brown the Celtics’ best prospect?

Long presumed to be the less promising of Boston’s young wings, Jaylen Brown has an underrated case for the title of the team’s best young prospect. Jayson Tatum has been widely considered the crown jewel of the Boston Celtics’ cadre of young players and with good reason. He’s an effortless shooter who just averaged 15.4 points per game while shooting 37.3% from deep in what was considered something of a disappointing sophomore season. For comparison’s sake, Kawhi Leonard finished his second year in the NBA averaging 11.9 points. Paul George? 12.1. Jimmy Butler? 8.6. Each of...

NBA GM says Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown are ‘closer than you’d think’ when it comes to value

Coming into the 2018-19 season, much of the Boston Celtics’ expected dominance stemmed from the assumption that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown would continue on the path toward imminent stardom uninterrupted. Instead, beset by the presence of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, both of whom missed last year’s playoffs, the Celtics’ young wings have mostly […] The post NBA GM says Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown are ‘closer than you’d think’ when it comes to value appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Jayson Tatum on his struggles: ‘I will be better’

Jayson Tatum looks to bounce back after struggling in the first two games against the Bucks. The first two games for the Boston Celtics in its Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Milwaukee Bucks brought some good, and certainly some bad as well. Put Jayson Tatum into the latter category. Tatum’s usually high-level performances in the postseason have been nonexistent versus the Bucks. Tatum has scored just nine points in the series while shooting a rancid 23.5% for the floor on 4-of-17 made attempts and has yet to knock down a 3-pointer. But with the series obviously still in the...

Milwaukee’s adjustments work perfectly: 10 takeaways from Celtics/Bucks Game 2

Mike Budenholzer made some changes and they led to a dominating win for the Bucks 1. Game 2 started about as you expected for the Celtics, especially with the Bucks putting Nikola Mirotic in the starting lineup. Boston attacked him with both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, generally in space and off the dribble. This got Brown five free throw attempts in the first quarter. Unfortunately, as Milwaukee amped up their switching on defense, Boston got out of sorts and went away from this approach. 2. Pretty regularly this space has been critical of Terry Rozier for what he’s not: a...
