Nets Blog | ESPN New York — In the little time Jerry Stackhouse spent as Jason Collins' teammate during the 2011-12 season in Atlanta, Collins won over the Brooklyn Nets forward. Stackhouse can fondly recall playing card games on planes with the center, and how he always used to lend him extra tickets. Monday, Collins announced that he was gay, becoming the first active athlete in a United States men's team sport to do so. Stackhouse had nothing but kind words of support and praise for his former teammate.

Nets crush Bulls in first NBA playoff game in Brooklyn

Nets Blog | ESPN New York — Brooklyn Nets reserve Jerry Stackhouse sang the National Anthem prior to Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Not that there’s anything surprising about that. Stackhouse is an anthem veteran, having performed it before several NBA games in past seasons. He was cheered loudly by the Barclays Center crowd during his performance -- and afterward, when he was mobbed by his teammates.

On April 12, vs. Indiana, he showed he still has some skills left in his 18th season, scoring 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Now, with the playoffs beginning, Stack has some new credibility. He's played 71 games in the post-season, the most on the team, getting to the Finals once as a Maverick. He hopes to contribute. Stackhouse played 14 minutes in the game, scoring six points on 2 of 4 shooting. He added two assists and two turnovers, in a 103-99 win.
