  • Jerry Stackhouse thinks Nets need strict, experienced coach
In an interview on ESPN First Take Tuesday, Jerry Stackhouse said he thinks the Nets are likely to go for a "stickler," a coach who is willing to say its his way, no other way. (Although video from the interview is not yet posted, SNY Nets' John Paolantonio transcribed a good part of it.) Stack, who is a free agent and may retire, didn't mince words when asked his opinion. "I think it just needs someone to really to guide, a stickler, someone to come in everyday and say we are going to do it this way. We have a system in place and we cant deviate from the system" "If we come off a ...

  • Jerry Stackhouse may be 38 but he says he's ready for playoffs
Jerry Stackhouse has had a pretty good April. In six games, he's averaging 7.0 points, shooting 50 percent from deep and 45.5 percent overall, in 19.2 minutes. On April 12, vs. Indiana, he showed he still has some skills left in his 18th season, scoring 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Now, with the playoffs beginning, Stack has some new credibility. He's played 71 games in the post-season, the most on the team, getting to the Finals once as a Maverick. He hopes to contribute. "My whole dynamic of how this year unfolded for me could be a blessing in disguise," Stackhouse told Josh Newma...

  • Gerald Wallace out, Keith Bogans game-time decision vs. Pacers
The Nets have announced that Gerald Wallace is out with a heel contusion suffered in the Boston game and that Keith Bogans, his back-up at SF, is a game time decision, increasing the likelihood that Jerry Stackhouse, who played well in limited minutes Wednesday, will see more playing time. For Wallace, it will be his tenth missed game and his second this month. Prior to that, he hadn't missed a game since January. Bogans, who's been troubled by a bad back, has missed the last two games. In those two games, Stackhouse has played 37 minutes and scored 10 points, but has shot only 3-of-...
  • With Gerald Wallace Hurt, is Jerry Stackhouse the 'next man up'?
With Gerald Wallace having suffered a heel contusion on Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics, the Nets are now looking for the "next man" to step up and fill the void. The question now remains, though, who will that next man be? Well, as Rod Boone found out in speaking with Deron Williams, that next man may very well be Jerry Stackhouse. Yes, the same Stackhouse who was all but out of the rotation a month ago. But, to be fair, it's also the same Stackhouse who did this. Williams seems to think that Stackhouse is more than capable of filling in for Wallace while he heals, which s...

"I like Kris a lot," Carlesimo said. "I think he’s active. ... I’d like to be able to get him some more time so we could look at him. I think Kris Joseph can be a good player in the league. It’s just hard for us to get him time right now." "I like him," said ...

  • Jerry Stackhouse and the Brooklyn Connection to
The movie "42" about Jackie Robinson's first season with the Dodgers ... and what it meant to sports, the nation and the world... premieres Thursday (oddly in Los Angeles, not Brooklyn). For one member of the Nets, the movie is more than just an interesting bio-pic about a place and time. Jerry Stackhouse is the first professional athlete to wear the number in 55 years since Robinson retired just before the Dodgers move out west. He understands the significance of the film and his wearing the number. "When you have a movie just with that number, you don't even say Jackie Robinson, jus...

Only now it’s amplified, and now it is raising questions attached to Byron Scott’s future. The Cavs were embarrassed Wednesday by the Brooklyn Nets 113-95 — and it wasn’t even that close — on a night the Nets were without two starters. They scored 38 points in the second quarter, tying for the most the Cavs have surrendered in a quarter this season, and shot 73 percent in the first half. They allowed a 38-year-old and decrepit Jerry...
  • Jerry Stackhouse likely to end career with Brooklyn Nets, retiring to take on bigger union role
Jerry Stackhouse tells Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports that it’s "highly unlikely’’ he will play next season. He then anticipates having a bigger role with the troubled NBA Players Association. Stackhouse was elected first vice-president the players union in February, putting him in position to succeed Derek Fischer. Stack has been highly critical of the manner in which the union has been run. The U.S. Labor Department is looking into self-dealing by the family of former executive director Billy Hunter. "It’s not completely sold that I don’t get the bug (to play) again,'' the 18-year...
