Butler: Bulls not focused on seed, just wins

TORONTO -- The Chicago Bulls don't have the best record in the league, but they might lead the NBA in confidence. Despite all the ups and downs they've dealt with on and off the floor this season, the Bulls believe they can knock off anybody. That confidence was on display in a 116-103 win over the Raptors on Wednesday as the Bulls outscored Toronto 39-21 in the fourth quarter. "We don't play to lose that's for sure," Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler said.

Jimmy Butler slated to return against Hornets tonight

[Thanks to Jeff for today's game preview -yfbb] Just as I was starting to put pen to paper (or in actuality, fingers to keyboard) to prepare the game preview for the Bulls’ 2nd game against the Charlotte Hornets in 10 days, news came through the pipeline that Jimmy Butler will be making his much awaited, and needed return, from an elbow sprain that has kept him out of the team’s last 11 games. The Bulls have gone 5-6 during this period. Before I get to Butler, there are a couple of points to address. To say the Bulls loss on Saturday night in Detroit could have been predicted, is too...

Butler expected to play vs. Hornets

CHICAGO -- Jimmy Butler went through all of Monday's shootaround and is expected to make his return Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets after missing the last three weeks because of a left elbow injury. Butler, who injured the elbow in a March 1 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, was expected to be out 3-6 weeks after an MRI confirmed the ligament sprain. But the All-Star swingman has been making good progress in his rehab and Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau is hopeful that Butler will be able to play against the Hornets.

Jimmy Butler returns, Bulls defeated Hornets, 98-86

The Bulls welcomed Jimmy Butler back from an 11-game absence to an injured left elbow and Nikola Mirotic continued to make everyone feel at home. The Bulls defeated the Hornets,

Gibson (ankle) getting closer to a return

CHICAGO -- Taj Gibson is hopeful that he'll be back on the floor for the first time in almost a month as he continues to recover from a sprained left ankle. Gibson said that Tuesday's practice marked the first time since the Feb. 27 injury that he was able to participate in a full-contact practice. "I'm feeling a lot better," Gibson said after Wednesday's shootaround. "It's a process, I'm frustrated, but I'm feeling a lot better." Like injured swingman Jimmy Butler, who is recovering from a left elbow injury, Gibson was hopeful that he may be able to play at some point this week -- but...

Jimmy Butler out at least 3 weeks with elbow sprain

The good news is that Jimmy Butler's injured elbow doesn't require surgery. But it's still another significant injury for this team, as Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Butler will be out 3-4 weeks. The Bulls official release has called it a 'Grade 2/3 ulnar ligament sprain and small bone impaction injury to the left elbow', and sets the high-end of the recovery timetable to 6 weeks. The injury occurred early in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's loss to the Clippers, as Butler's arm was crunched by a Deandre Jordan screen. It's a 'freak' injury that can happen at any time, I suppose, but...

Tomball native Jimmy Butler out 3-6 weeks with elbow injury

Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler, a Tomball native, is expected to miss three to six weeks with a grade 2-3 ligament strain in his left elbow, CSN Chicago reported Monday. Butler left the Bulls’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday with an elbow injury, with an MRI providing the official results Monday morning. […]

Let Jimmy Be Harden: Why the Bulls should run their offense through Butler

Point Noah is great and all, but with Derrick Rose out, the Bulls should run the offense through Jimmy Buckets. [OK, so this was written before Butler hurt himself in Saturday's game. If anything it underscores the loss it'd be if he's missing some time -yfbb] Since Derrick Rose has gone out with his newest knee injury, the Bulls have returned to last year's Joakim Noah centric offense. They should fight against that impulse to rely on the familiar, because this year Jimmy Butler has shown he can handle a much bigger role. In fact, even when Rose is back, it would serve the Bulls well to...

Banged-up Bulls dismal on offense in loss; Jimmy Butler hurt

Jimmy Butler is headed for an MRI exam on Monday after leaving the Bulls' 96-86 loss to the Clippers on Sunday in the third quarter with a hyperextended left elbow.

Clippers Too Much For Bulls as Butler Leaves With Elbow Injury

A classic 'life without Derrick' game took place at the United Center on Sunday afternoon, but the worst news of all is that Jimmy Butler hurt his elbow. Once again, a Bulls player getting injured matters more than the actual outcome of the game itself. Jimmy Butler left in the third quarter with a left elbow strain, according to Bulls' PR. Afterwards, Thibodeau said it is likely a hyperextension and Butler will have an MRI tomorrow. Butler's already been dealing with a troublesome right shoulder and has had his left thumb wrapped for a considerable amount of time this season, so just add...
