Atlanta Hawks pick up fourth-year option on DeAndre’ Bembry’s contract

Atlanta Hawks pick up fourth-year option on DeAndre’ Bembry’s contract

The oft-injured wing will have his fourth season guaranteed. After a rocky first two years in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks have decided that they’ve seen enough from 24-year-old wing DeAndre’ Bembry, officially announcing the decision to pick up the fourth-year option on his rookie scale contract, valued at $2.6 million. Unlike the decisions on teammates Taurean Prince and John Collins (seen as no-brainers), there was some question before the preseason whether Bembry would see his option picked up. Two years have passed since Bembry was selected with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2016...

Hawks pick up third-year option on John Collins

Hawks pick up third-year option on John Collins

Official word on perhaps the most obvious decision of Atlanta’s offseason. With a bit of paperwork, the Atlanta Hawks officially exercised the third-year option for John Collins’ rookie scale contract, a decision on which was due by October 31. The option ties Collins to his contract through the end of the 2020 season, though between now and then, the Hawks will almost certainly pick up his 2020-21 option (Collins’ fourth season) to finish out his rookie scale contract with the team. Collins, the No. 19 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, is slated to make $2.3 million in 2018-19 and...

Prince, Collins represent Hawks on preseason top 100 list

Some love for two young players. Most outlets release their lists of the top 100 players in the NBA in September, simply because there isn’t much to discuss in that dead period of the year. However, Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post chose a more timely moment to release his 2018-2019 ranking and, on Monday, Taurean Prince and John Collins featured on the list. Collins previously garnered recognition as a top 100 player from CBS Sports and, in the Washington Post’s ranking, the second-year big man landed at No. 82 overall. As for Prince, the third-year forward received his highest...

Hawks fall in preseason finale in Miami despite strong second quarter

A loss, but a fun second quarter if nothing else The Atlanta Hawks fell short in their final preseason game against the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena on Friday night, falling 119-113.
