Hawks Season in Review - Kyle Korver

Peachtree Hoops — Expectations Kyle Korver was acquired with a trade exception because the Bulls were facing luxury tax issues. An example of your new CBA at work, the only team in the 3rd largest city in the USA and they are giving away useful players to direct competitors to avoid luxury tax. It really wasn’t the dollar for dollar tax for this last season that had Chicago scared, but rather qualifying as a repeat offender and paying exponential taxes in the future. What we did we expect to get out of the long time 6th man and shooting specialist? Long distance shooting was the main thing we expect...

Hawks Season in Review - John Jenkins

Peachtree Hoops — Expectations Coming into the season it was understandable to not expect many minutes for John Jenkins. Jenkins was known as a shooting specialist at SG and the Hawks had plenty of options at SG including DeShawn Stevenson, Devin Harris, Kyle Korver, Louis Williams, and Anthony Morrow. Also, Larry Drew has a reputation of distrusting young players and furthermore evaluating their readiness on defense alone which wasn’t expected to be a strong suit of John Jenkins. I think most of us figured that if we saw much court time from Jenkins we’d likely see some 3 pointers. Results The seaso...

Korver may stay with Hawks

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Guard Kyle Korver said the Hawks have expressed interest in re-signing him this offseason, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Korver, who is slated to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, averaged 10.9 points and 4.0 rebounds over 74 games with Atlanta this year. “They said they would like to work something out, so we’ll talk in July,” Korver said. “I really enjoyed my year here in Atlanta. I enjoyed the team. I enjoyed the organization. I believe (general manager) Danny Ferry is going to do some great things here. I think he has a great opportunity to bring in guys who are going to...

Kyle Korver, Zaza Pachulia open to return to Atlanta

Peachtree Hoops — The Atlanta Hawks have reportedly already expressed an interest in re-signing Kyle Korver who will be a unrestricted free agent this summer. Korver was acquired in a salary dump from the Chicago Bulls last offseason and averaged 10.9 points per game while making 46 percent of his three point attempts. It sounds like Korver is a firm believer in Danny Ferry which is a good thing going forward. "They said they would like to work something out, so we'll talk in July," Korver said. Lakers FA discussion: Kyle Korver

Silver Screen and Roll — (Welcome to the 2013 Lakers Summer free agency guide. Be sure to check out our full archive of player capsules, news, editorials, and more on the Lakers free agency period over here.) The Los Angeles Lakers have a stupidly long list of things they need to take care of this Summer. There are two things that should be near the top of that list: three-point shooting and wing depth. Kyler Korver takes care of two of those needs with one signing, and is the kind of signing that could change the Lakers offense by having one of the leagues elite shooters. Korver was second overall on three-po...

Pacers vs. Hawks Game 4 score: Josh Smith, Kyle Korver lead Atlanta to 57-40 lead

Peachtree Hoops — The Atlanta Hawks picked right back up where they left off in Game 3 as they stormed their way to a 57-40 over the Indiana Pacers at halftime of Game 4. The Hawks used a 16-1 run in the first half to take control and shot a blistering 55 percent in the first half including 7-11 shooting from beyond-the-arc. Josh Smith has been the catalyst with 16 points and six rebounds while more than winning his matchup with Paul George who finished the half with just three points. Kyle Korver scored 11 points off the bench while going 3-4 from downtown. Jeff Teague added eight points and three assists whil...

Pacers Finding Success All Over The Court

Indy Cornrows — In Game 1 the defensive combination of Kyle Korver and DeShawn Stevenson struggled mightily with Paul George. His on-the-ball offense has been shaky at times this season but he repeatedly got into the teeth of the defense, both on isolations and off the pick-and-roll, making great decisions with the ball. The Hawks began Game 2 clearly determined to keep him out of the lane. They actually began the game with Devin Harris defending George, switching Korver onto Lance Stephenson. Harris is at a tremendous size disadvantage but his quick feet and quick hands are elements that give George ...

Hawks v. Pacers Game 2: Electric Boogaloo; Hawks stick with same lineup

Peachtree Hoops — Larry Drew announced this morning that the Hawks will start the same lineup of Jeff Teague, Devin Harris, Kyle Korver, Josh Smith, and Al Horford that they did in Game 1 of the series. This came as a surprise to most Hawks fans who assumed Drew would make an adjustment after the 107-90 loss in which the Pacers took advantage of apparent mismatches. The Pacers will also likely trot out the same starting lineup of George Hill, Lance Stephenson, Paul George, David West, and Roy Hibbert seeing as it worked out pretty well last game. The biggest mismatch, and the one that was exploited the...

NBA Playoffs 2013: Hawks have no answer for Paul George in Game 1

Peachtree Hoops — One of the major unknowns coming into Game 1 between the Atlanta Hawks and the Indiana Pacers was what lineup the Hawks and head coach Larry Drew might go with. Drew elected to go with the small lineup which matched up Kyle Korver against Paul George from the start. The results didn't work out well for the Hawks as George dominated the game from the free throw line in a triple-double performance. "My teammates were able to make shots and I was trying to rebound the ball," George sasid. "I said for this playoff run I'm leaving everything on the floor. I know as a team what is expected o...

Hawks vs. Pacers, Game 1: Larry Drew going with Atlanta's 'best lineup'

Peachtree Hoops — Larry Drew talked about his decision to go with a smaller lineup with Kyle Korver at small forward and Al Horford at center prior to Game 1 against the Pacers. Drew said he wanted to get the combination on the floor that had performed the best throughout the season. "I wanted to go with what we've been best with throughout the season," coach Larry Drew said. "We've been smaller, we've been quicker. We've been faster. It's certainly something we'll keep an eye on throughout the series against this team because they are so big. We are going to have to be us. We made that decision throug...

Hawks vs. Pacers, Game 1: Kyle Korver to start at forward for Atlanta

Peachtree Hoops — The Atlanta Hawks have used many different starting combinations this season but will go with their conventional starting lineup in Game 1 against the Indiana Pacers. Larry Drew will send out Jeff Teague and Devin Harris at the guards along with a frontcourt featuring Kyle Korver, Josh Smith and Al Horford. Hawks starters game one Teague Harris Korver smith Horford @sportsouth — Bob Rathbun (@BobRathbunTV) April 21, 2013 Drew essentially had a couple of options for lineups. He could have elected to go big with Johan Petro as the starting center which would have slid Horford and Sm...

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Hawks guard Kyle Korver was back on the floor Wednesday against the 76ers, after missing the team's previous game due to personal reasons. Korver extended his 3-pointer streak to 71 games, but it took him until halfway through the fourth quarter to notch his first make. He scored just six points on 2 of 4 shooting in the game, with one assist, one steal, one block and two rebounds in 18 minutes. The Hawks won the game, 124-101.

Hawks vs. Spurs: Shorthanded Atlanta falls in San Antonio 99-97

Peachtree Hoops — The Atlanta Hawks traveled to San Antonio Saturday night battered and bruised but came up with a solid effort in a 99-97 loss. The Hawks played without Al Horford, Josh Smith, Devin Harris and Kyle Korver but will not get any sympathy from the Spurs who were without Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli. In the end there was just too much Tim Duncan for Atlanta to overcome as the veteran finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes of action. Still it would have been easy for the Hawks to have just mailed in the effort on this one without Smith and Horford. Instead they got stellar pe...
