Golden State Warriors guard/forward Andre Iguodala (strained hip) has been ruled out against teh Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. What It Means: This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Iguodala hadn't appeared on the injury report until now, and there's no word yet on whether he is at risk of missing multiple games. Look for Patrick McCaw and Matt Barnes to both see some increased minutes with Iguodala on the sidelines. Our models project Barnes for 8.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 25.5 minutes of action on Tuesday. Source: Rotoworld.com

Warriors’ Matt Barnes eager to dominate Kings

Three weeks into his second stint with the Warriors, Matt Barnes has already established himself as one of the team’s more candid players. Barnes, who graduated from Del Campo High School in the Sacramento suburb of Fair Oaks, signed a two-year deal with his hometown Kings in July. The Kings waived him Feb. 20 to create the necessary roster room to complete their DeMarcus Cousins trade with New Orleans. “It was frustrating because being back home and really taking pride in trying to put that team back on the map, and then just in a day’s time you’re no longer a part of the...

Matt Barnes getting acclimated to Warriors

When he found his Warriors teammates and coaches gathered at the upscale restaurant in Manhattan, Barnes asked point guard Shaun Livingston if this was a regular occurrence. Golden State is the rare place where teammates are more friends than co-workers. Since averaging 2.5 points and shooting 25 percent (3-for-12) in his first four games, Barnes has averaged 7.7 points on 17-for-39 (43.6 percent) shooting in his past seven. Though far from the scorer that Kevin Durant is, Barnes is figuring out how to complement Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green with Durant sidelined by a...

Matt Barnes gettting acclimated to Warriors

When he found his Warriors teammates and coaches gathered at the up-scale restaurant in Manhattan, Barnes asked point guard Shaun Livingston if this was a regular occurrence. Golden State is the rare place where teammates are more friends than co-workers. In his 14th NBA season, Barnes has embraced his new franchise’s philosophy that fun and winning aren’t mutually exclusive. Since averaging 2.5 points on 3-for-12 (25 percent) shooting in his first four games, Barnes has averaged 7.7 points on 17-for-39 (43.6 percent) shooting in his past seven. Warriors’ Andre Iguodala to miss Mavericks game with hip strain DALLAS — Warriors forward Andre Iguodala will miss Tuesday night’s game against the Mavericks with a strained left hip, Golden State has announced. Matt Barnes is just what the doctor ordered for the Warriors

Barnes continues to impress with solid play off the bench OAKLAND, Calif. — The signing of Matt Barnes has presented quite the condundrum to many Warriors’ fans. Some find it hard to look past the laundry list of Barnes’ off the court issues. But for others, like myself, it is as equally difficult to not bask in the overwhelming nostalgic feeling that comes with seeing Barnes back in a Warriors’ jersey. What started has a frantic patchwork type signing to fill the gaping hole left by Kevin Durant has since blossomed into a quality acquisition. The six-foot nine-inch 36 year-old...

Explain One Play: Matt Barnes Bombs the Bucks

We look at two Matt Barnes threes and an assist from the game-exploding run in the second quarter in the Bucks-Warriors game on March 18, 2017. Here is a great scouting report from Steve Kerr on Matt Barnes on CSN: Matt is a good shooter, not a great shooter, but he’s a guy you have to honor out there when you’re defending him. But he doesn’t have to make shots to be effective. He does everything well. He’s such a good defender. He’s so smart, he’s already picked up our offense like that. He guards multiple positions. He’s kind of a jack-of-all-trades. He keeps us going with...

Kerr explains why Warriors assigned Looney to D-League

Kevon Looney has been assigned to the Warriors’ Development League affiliate in Santa Cruz, Golden State announced Friday. Even with Kevin Durant sidelined by a left knee injury, Looney has only topped the 10-minute mark once in the Warriors’ past 11 games. Stuck on the depth chart behind Durant, Draymond Green, David West, James Michael McAdoo and, lately, Matt Barnes, the UCLA product has been relegated mostly to mop-up duty. In Saturday’s 107-85 loss to San Antonio, when Kerr was sitting Iguodala, Green, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, Looney made his fourth career start. Jones...

GSoM Roundtable: What are your feelings about Matt Barnes?

The GSoM staff discusses their feelings, positive and negative, about the Warriors’ signing of Matt Barnes. After news got out that the Golden State Warriors were going to sign Matt Barnes, the Golden State of Mind staff had some extended discussions internally about our feelings about him as a player as well as his off-court struggles. The organization itself had been silent about the off-court issues until Sunday when Ethan Sherwood Strauss reported a quote from Steve Kerr for ESPN. "We're aware of Matt's legal situation, and we'll see how that plays out. We're comfortable with the...

Warriors’ Matt Barnes readies for Oracle Arena return

Warriors’ Matt Barnes readies for Oracle Arena return With most local media stuck in the Bay Area during the Warriors’ recent five-city, eight-day road gantlet, folks wanted to know: “I’ve received a lot of support,” said Barnes, who is averaging 3.3 points and five rebounds in three games with the Warriors. Barnes, a former All-America wide receiver at Del Campo High School in Sacramento County, was considering an NFL tryout in the summer of 2006 when he tagged along with old UCLA teammate Baron Davis to a pick-up game at Golden State’s practice facility. Aware that Barnes...
