Patrick Beverley says he'll play in Game 5

Houston gets some good news heading into tonight's pivotal contest. The Rockets were set to be in a world of trouble without their emotional leader, who was listed as day-to-day with a myriad of injuries that include a hamstring, a knee, and a hip. But in some great news for the Rockets, Beverley not only practiced yesterday, but announced to Fox Sports Houston's Mark Berman that he fully expects to play in tonight's critical Game 5. Rockets vs. Warriors Game 5 preview: Rockets need to shoot better to win

The Rockets have been awful from beyond the arc, and that will need to change for Houston's season not to end. The playoff war of attrition has started. Stephen Curry is set to miss a minimum of two weeks with a knee injury. The Rockets may be without Patrick Beverley, who's banged up with a slew of injuries to his knee, hip, and now his hamstring. Even the Clippers-Blazers series saw Chris Paul go down with a broken hand (and later Blake Griffin), and both are now set to miss the remainder of the playoffs. Dropping like flies, indeed. As much as Patrick Beverley means to this Rockets...

Patrick Beverley day-to-day, Rockets' heart day-to-day with it

The Rocket eagerly await the status of their emotional leader, which sounds like it will come down to a game-time decision. Patrick Beverley's exit from Sunday's Game 4 directly coincided with the Rockets' total collapse against the Golden State Warriors, and now it appears he is in danger of missing Wednesday's Game 5 as well, with the Houston Chronicle reporting Bev is officially listed as day-to-day with a right hamstring injury. CBS Sports is calling his availability "firmly up in the air." Should Beverley miss Game 5, the Rockets' heart stays glued to the pine right along with him,...

Rockets give up after Stephen Curry leaves, lose to Warriors by 27

Houston had a chance to even the series 2-2. Then the regular season Rockets reared their ugly heads. The Rockets had their chance, and they blew it. The Rockets were tied up wth the reigning champs at halftime. Stephen Curry slipped on the court at the buzzer and sprained his knee, not to return. The team was playing with energy and cohesiveness, and wow was it fun. Patrick Beverley was out, and that was a concern, but he's not the MVP and scoring champion. Of course, these are the Rockets and it is 2016, so the most rational outcome was always bound to be the least likely to happen....

Stephen Curry, Patrick Beverley out for rest of Game 4 with leg injuries

The point guards will sit Stephen Curry slipped at the end of the first half and suffered a sprained right knee and won't be coming back to this game. It's unclear how it happened, but Patrick Beverley will also miss the rest of this game with a leg injury. The Warriors also have Shaun Livingston, Leandro Barbosa and Ian Clark healthy and active in this game. The only other Rockets' point guard active is Jason Terry (Andrew Goudelock is inactive while Montrezl Harrell is active, in case you were wondering). Obviously Stephen Curry is the MVP of the NBA, but without Patrick Beverley, the...

Explain One Play: Warriors attack and guard James Harden

Examining how the Warriors offense picked on James Harden, and also harassed him into a terrible offensive night in the blowout win in Rockets-Warriors Game 1. Here at Explain One Play Inc., we try to stick to clips from competitive parts of games, and today that restricted us to part of the first quarter. Quite a methodical crushing of the Rockets. The Houston Rockets tried to defend Curry using a combination of (1) grabbing and hitting Curry whenever possible; (2) having Patrick Beverley play tough physical man-on-man defense; and (3) the new league standard defense of switching...

Stephen Curry, Patrick Beverley get into scuffle in Game 1 of the playoffs

Warriors vs. Rockets halftime score: Patrick Beverley no match for Stephen Curry, Golden State leads 60-33

The Warriors have gotten their title run off to a good start. The Golden State Warriors will look to finish off the Houston Rockets in Game 1 after mounting a big first half lead. Stephen Curry leads the way with a playoff career-high 24 first half points to help the Warriors mount their largest halftime lead in the shot clock era, according to @gswstats. The Rockets pulled out their most desperate tactics early with Patrick Beverley openly swinging at Steph Curry in the first quarter. Although he didn't get ejected, the league needs to review that and try to keep that bush league nonsense...

Patrick Beverley scraps with Stephen Curry mere minutes into the playoffs

It happens that fast. Rockets' Patrick Beverley scraps with Warriors' Stephen Curry pic.twitter.com/AcqrEyOoAX — Ben Golliver (@BenGolliver) April 16, 2016 Patrick Beverley had been guarding Stephen Curry for all of 5 and a half minutes when he started the mess with Stephen Curry. The MVP gave Beverley a nice little shove, and both players were issued technical fouls. Curry got three technical fouls all season, and no technical fouls during the Warriors' run to the championship last year. And it took less than a quarter of Patrick Beverley Wolverine defense for him to get one. That's...
