Warriors’ Patrick McCaw shows aggressiveness in fill-in start

Over the past seven months, as he became the rare second-round draft pick to contribute in his first NBA season, McCaw made good on his new moniker. In the second quarter, after teammates encouraged him during a timeout to be more aggressive, he hit a three-pointer from the top of the arc and drove for a layup. McCaw finished with nine points, five rebounds, no turnovers and a plus-27 in 34 minutes, a stat line reminiscent of his mentor, Sixth Man of the Year candidate Andre Iguodala. Though McCaw can’t be expected to replicate the eight-time All-Star’s production, he is a more capable...

Warriors destroy Blazers with team defense in Durant’s absence

With former MVP Kevin Durant out, Warriors unleash potential Finals MVP JaVale McGee in blowout win over the Blazers. Three Warriors didn’t play, including former MVP Kevin Durant, and the trio of Curry-Green-Thompson shot poorly from the field in Game 2 of the team’s first-round matchup against the Blazers. The Warriors won the game by 29. It was the unexpected two-way production from Patrick McCaw, JaVale McGee and Ian Clark that helped put the Blazers away. With Durant out of the lineup, Curry started the game aggressively searching for his shot. He had a rough shooting night but...

McCaw exudes confidence in first post-season start

The Warriors didn’t skip a beat without Kevin Durant. OAKLAND, Calif. — With 3:21 left in the second quarter and the Warriors ahead 43-42, the momentum was quickly shifting. The Trail Blazers had just brought a 16-point first-half deficit to within one point after Evan Turner connected on his first shot of the night, a spot-up three-pointer at the top of the key. The Warriors needed a bucket to stop the bleeding and Patrick McCaw was there to halt the hemorrhaging. The rookie swing-man got his first career playoff start in place of Kevin Durant, who sat out with a strained calf. McCaw...

Warriors’ Durant questionable for Game 2

Warriors forward Kevin Durant is questionable for Game 2 of the first round Wednesday against Portland with a left calf strain, Golden State has announced. Durant, who sustained the injury in Sunday’s Game 1 victory, missed practice Tuesday. With Matt Barnes questionable with a sprained right ankle, Patrick McCaw would likely start at small forward should both Durant and Barnes be sidelined. The expectation, head coach Steve Kerr said, is that Durant will be back at some point in the first round.

Utah Jazz 105 - Golden State Warriors 99: Game Recap

What happened last night? Somehow the Utah Jazz (50-31) defeated the Golden State Warriors (66-15) last night, by the score of 105-99. This broke the Warriors 14 game win streak, and was their 5th loss at home all season. Utah drops 5-0 wins on a season for the first time in a very long time. The first quarter saw Golden State’s line-up of Stephen Curry, Patrick McCaw, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Zaza Pachulia tip-off against Utah’s group of George Hill, Dante Exum, Joe Ingles, Boris Diaw, and Rudy Gobert. And it was either a lack of attention by the dubs, or a very specific...
