Favors ready for the jump

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Jazz forward Derrick Favors has waited patiently for his opportunity to breakout, and it could finally come next season. Favors is set to enter his fourth season, and he should not longer have a pair of borderline All Stars blocking him in the starting lineup, with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap set to be unrestricted free agents. The Jazz are expected to let one or both of those players walk, opening the door for Favors to step into the starting lineup. Favors is coming off his best season as a professional yet, averaging 9.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in just 23.2 minutes per game. ...

Millsap not worrying about free agency

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Even though forward Paul Millsap knows he may have played his final game in a Jazz uniform, he insists he is not stressing out about the prospects on being a free agent. "I’m not a psychic. I don’t know,’’ Millsap told the Deseret News when asked if he would back with the Jazz next year. “ I've got to wait and see what happens. I’m going to rest and be with my family. I don’t even want to imagine that.’’

Kragthorpe: Jazz will miss Al Jefferson more than Paul Millsap

Salt Lake Tribune — Kragthorpe: Jazz will miss Al Jefferson more than Paul Millsap by Kurt Kragthorpe Tribune Columnist Published Apr 18, 2013 06:37PM MDT In the tradition of Jazz legend Karl Malone, center Al Jefferson accidentally referred to “the city of Utah” during an interview Thursday. If this is the end for Jefferson with the Jazz, his legacy hardly will resemble the Mailman’s, considering Jefferson’s three-year tenure in Salt Lake City includes exactly zero playoff victories. Yet Jefferson, whose face on the southeast facade of EnergySolutions Arena temporarily hovers above Malone’s statue, des...

The Hard Choices Edition - The Downbeat - #1015

SLC Dunk — With three games remaining and the Jazz's last two games on the road, the game tomorrow could be Paul Millsap's last as a Jazzman. That's what the story line of the day is, at least, with questions along the lines of "Reflect on your time with the Jazz" being directed at Millsap at practice today. It's interesting to conjecture on what Millsap thinks of his time with the Jazz. His rookie year, the Jazz finished first in their division and made it to the Western Conference Finals. They were unable to get back there in the years that followed, but the Jazz always fielded a competiti...

How Long Should We Expect Enes Kanter Out?

SLC Dunk — Enes Kanter's dislocated shoulder is a gigantic bummer, as the 20-year-old big man was having an excellent second season after a tepid rookie year. While his turnovers have hurt, his remarkable FG% has meant he's been a relatively efficient offensive threat, and he provides better defense than starters Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson. Enes will be missed. But for how long? Let's take a look at other recent players with dislocated shoulders in the NBA and see how long they took to recover. Channing Frye, March 2011 After being slated to miss 2-3 weeks with his dislocated shoulder, Frye ...
