Remember when the Orlando Magic came after Paul Millsap? Al Horford might be next

We could have an early suitor for Al Horford's free agent services and it is a familiar combatant for the Hawks. It has been almost a year since the Orlando Magic made an impressive offer to Atlanta Hawks free agent power forward Paul Millsap, and it is easy to forget that Millsap seemed to be quite close to accepting a deal that would land him in central Florida. Fast forward to 2016 and the Hawks have yet another big-time free agent on the market in the form of Al Horford. Could the Magic be trying to pry another high-profile talent away from Georgia? Josh Robbins of the Orlando...

Al Horford, Paul Millsap fall just short of All-NBA honors

On Thursday afternoon, the NBA announced its first, second and third All-NBA teams for the 2015-2016 season. To the surprise of few, the Atlanta Hawks were not represented within the 15 players recognized with inclusion. However, both Paul Millsap and Al Horford were honored in the voting, to the point where the duo represented the "first runner-up" at the forward and center positions, respectively. Millsap received 84 voting points, finishing seventh overall among forwards and ahead of players like Anthony Davis. The six forwards landing ahead of Millsap were LeBron James and Kawhi...

Paul Millsap named to All-Defensive second team

Throughout the 2015-2016 NBA season, Paul Millsap was praised for his all-around performance, including on the defensive end. On Wednesday, Millsap was rewarded for his defensive effort, as the Atlanta Hawks power forward was named to the NBA's All-Defensive second team. Millsap received 11 first-team votes to join Paul George at the forward position on the second team, but both finished behind the dynamic forward duo of Golden State's Draymond Green and San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard in the voting. The 31-year-old forward finished the season as the only player in the NBA with at least 1.7...

Atlanta Hawks 2016 player review: Mike Muscala

Mike Muscala was serviceable again for the Atlanta Hawks but can he take a step forward and be a true rotational player? Atlanta Hawks forward/center Mike Muscala played in a career-high 60 games this season but didn't quite take the step forward that many were expecting. Muscala wrapped up 2015 with a solid performance down the stretch and in the playoffs. That had many people wondering if he could challenge Mike Scott for minutes as the team's backup power forward behind Paul Millsap. It didn't end up working out that way and a lot of it had to do with Scott's improvement. Muscala saw a...

Soles of Atlanta: Paul Millsap

A look at Paul Millsap's sneaker history. Paul Millsap first signed with the Utah Jazz in 2006, and has been a major player for the Hawks since 2013. Millsap is a Nike athlete and, aside from wearing Adidas for his rookie season, has been playing in the swoosh for the majority of his career.  Millsap wore a variety of sneakers with the Jazz, but has worn the NIKE RUN THE ONE for most of his time with the Hawks.  Millsap usually doesn't wear player signature sneakers, but has been seen wearing the NIKE LEBRON and the NIKE KOBE. Atlanta Hawks (2013-Present) ...

J.R. Smith called for flagrant-1 foul vs. Hawks

J.R. Smith was called for a Flagrant 1 foul after hitting Paul Millsap in the face with an elbow. J.R. Smith, as he tends to do, got himself in a bit of hot water Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks. In the third quarter, Smith hit Hawks forward Paul Millsap in the face with an elbow. The elbow, while seemingly inadvertent, prompted the officials to review the play. After the review, Smith was called for a Flagrant 1 foul. On the play, Smith wasn't really doing anything dirty - he was simply trying to establish position against a much larger, stronger player in the post. Review...

NBA Playoffs: The Hawks have a LeBron James problem

The Hawks have a LeBron James problem. There might not be a solution. The Cavaliers Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Hawks tips off Monday, and not many are giving the gang from the Atlanta much of a chance. Tristan Thompson's ability to match up well against Paul Millsap while eating on the offensive glass has been well documented, as has Atlanta's inability to transfer their three-point barrages to the postseason thus far. That said, the real issue for the Hawks is that they have a LeBron James problem, and there might not be a solution. James averaged 27.3 points, 7.7...
