NBA Offseason 2016: Paul Pierce got his daughter a frickin llama for her birthday

No joke. Man, when I was a kid I asked for a bunny rabbit one time and got totally shut down. This girl gets a llama? Life is not fair. Paul Pierce should win all of the parenting awards for this move. From his own instagram account, here's some pretty amazing photographic documentation of the event. Clippers Off-Season 2016: Can Paul Pierce Bounce Back?

The former NBA Finals MVP was a disappointment last year. What can he bring to the table if he doesn't retire? Paul Pierce is an NBA Hall of Famer, but 2016 Paul Pierce was one of the worst rotation players in the league.  He shot just 36.3% from the field and 31% from deep while struggling to defend or rebound at anywhere near acceptable rates.  By all accounts, he looked like he pushed his body for one season too many, and his play suffered severely for it.  It was an unfortunate outcome for a Clippers team that had just seen The Truth shoot 39% from deep the year before in Washington...

Should the Los Angeles Clippers re-sign Wesley Johnson?

After signing for the veteran's minimum last summer, Wesley Johnson enjoyed an up-and-down inaugural campaign with the Clippers. Should they bring him back next season? Our panel of unquestioned basketball experts discusses. Robert Flom (@RichHomieFlom): If Wes Johnson can be brought back for a reasonable price I think Doc should make it happen. Assuming Jeff Green is re-signed (we'll talk about him later) and Paul Pierce retires, that leaves only one real small forward on the roster. And Wes proved this season he is a perfectly fine backup small forward. He can even play some small ball...

Alan Anderson had a season to forget for the Wizards

Alan Anderson was brought to Washington to step in and fill the gap left behind from Paul Pierce and provide John Wall with the mentorship needed to advance his game. Unfortunately, the Wizards paid a much higher premium for his services than they expected. He earned $307,692.31 for every game he took the floor this season, and the highlight of his season probably came in Portland when he got ejected after a scuffle with Gerald Henderson. He turned in career lows for free-throw percentage, field goal percentage, minutes, and games played. His handshake and suit game were on point but that...

Brooklyn Nets 'win' the 3rd pick in the 2016 NBA Draft; But, you know...

The Brooklyn Nets "won" the 3rd pick in the 2016 NBA Draft during Tuesday night's Lottery. Of course, that only means that they'll have to hand the pick over to the Boston Celtics. Why? Well, you know why. But... The Nets pick belongs to the Boston Celtics, because, well, they trade that pick in the deal that brought Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry to Brooklyn.  The Celtics had a 15.6 percent chance at the top pick and a 46.9 percent at a top three pick. Thankfully, we won't have to deal with this again. Wait, what? Anyway, the worst is seemingly behind us, for now, as they...

Reviewing Jared Dudley's up-and-down season with the Wizards

Jared Dudley was brought in for his veteran presence and to plug the hole left behind by the departed Paul Pierce. On offense, Dudley was exactly the stretch-4 that the Wizards needed. He's a heady player, would draw his man outside of the paint, and would force defenses to find him in transition, otherwise he'd burn them for a three-pointer. Dudley averaged 7.9 points per game this season and shot 42 percent from three-point range; his second best shooting percentage from three-point range in his career. But just like the Wizards, Dudley's individual season had its ups and downs. The...

First it was Allen Iverson, a hall of famer, followed by Paul Pierce, a future hall of famer.

Danny Ainge: "I didn't believe the 2016 pick would be where it is"

"Today, the basketball gods smiled on the Nets," Mikhail Prokhorov said on the draft night of June 27, 2013, when the Celtics and Nets agreed to a deal that sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to Brooklyn. The Nets had a good, and fun, follow year, but failed to sustain the success past the drama-filled 2013-2014 season. They dug themselves into a deep hole, but nobody thought they'd dig this deep. Not even Danny Ainge. "I thought Brooklyn was going to be good," Ainge said told the Boston Globe. "I thought that maybe the 2018 pick might have a chance to be a decent pick, but I...

Some Mid-Level Wings to Consider

It's another off-season where the Clippers need to find a wing. The Clippers need a wing a player - namely a small forward. After hoping Paul Pierce would be the solution, age caught up with "the Truth" and the truth was horrible. Wesley Johnson was mediocre and will likely find an above minimum contract elsewhere. Josh Smith..was interesting. So it's up to Doc Rivers to find a new option with limited resources. While the mid-level exception may be used to acquire a backup big man, there may be some small forward capable players worth considering. I say capable because Doc has shown his...

The Clippers' sixth man stopped by to talk about his future with the team. Jamal Crawford stopped by ESPN and sat down with Rachel Nichols on her very popular and very good TV show, "The Jump." He addressed his upcoming free agency and much more, reiterating that above all he wants to work something out with the Clippers. Paul Pierce Retirement Update: Hall of Famer Undecided Following Elimination

With the Clippers done for the year, the 38-year-old's future is in question. Paul Pierce said in September that if the Clippers won the championship, he'd retire riding off into the sunset. It didn't quite go down like that, and now we're left waiting for his decision as the Clippers find themselves done for the year in April. "I don't have much basketball left--whether it'll be this year or another year," said Pierce before the season.  It was clear to those watching throughout the season that the former Boston Celtics legend didn't have enough in the tank to do his brilliant career...

Clippers Off-Season 2016: The Puzzle Pieces

How will everything fit together? Preceding a more in-depth breakdown of the Clippers' financial situation, here are some key ideas to keep in mind going into the off-season: The salary cap and tax line are both going to jump tremendously.  The Clippers will most likely NOT have any cap space (it's technically possible but would involve renouncing several key players), but they will also most likely avoid being tax payers, giving them access to the full mid-level exception.  It's not much, and its value is diluted by the sheer amounts of money available in the NBA landscape this...

A Brief Thank You to Clips Nation

The season is over, but the blog is about much more than that. The Clippers' big four were all saddled with injuries, and Austin Rivers' half-court heave failed to force overtime in a deciding game six.  And so this Clippers season came to an end, my first as Editor-in-Chief of Clips Nation. I've been on the site as a commenter for seven years now, and I debuted on the front page in October of 2011.  Even with that experience, taking on the full-time day-to-day duties was still a larger burden than I ever expected.  I found myself doing more than I thought I would have to, and leaning...
