Where Are They Now: Ryan Gomes

The "where are they now" series treks on with a look at old friend Ryan Gomes. Gomes left the Clippers four years ago, and this is what he has been up to since. Clippers Career: Ryan Gomes, unlike the players previously covered in this series, was not a little-used prospect buried on the bench. He was, in fact, a free agent that the Clippers shelled out real money for (at least back in 2010), signing a 3 year, 12 million dollar deal. Gomes was brought over to be the starting small forward on a young Clippers team that needed a veteran presence. Unfortunately, Ryan's shooting dropped off...

2016 Olympics Basketball: Team USA Needs to Start DeAndre Jordan Over DeMarcus Cousins

Sure, he can’t do very much with the ball. But that’s exactly what Team USA needs. Of the five players who made the All-NBA First Team this year, only one made the trip to Rio. So why is he the one coming off the bench? Team USA hasn’t quite lived up to what many people expected. A teammate of fellow Clips’ draftee Trey Thompkins in college, the Clippers had hopes that the two of them could eventually become valuable contributors off the bench. Unfortunately for Travis, he got even fewer NBA minutes to prove himself than Trey, playing 45 total minutes over 10 games. He spent most of his time in the D-League, where he acquitted...

Could the focus on roster continuity reap benefits for them this season? Here’s a chart from Bleacher Report’s Adam Fromal, showing the clear link between continuity and team success. ContinuityCreate your own infographics Of course, roster continuity isn’t the be-all, end-all of team construction. Correlation doesn’t always imply causation — teams aren’t good...

2016-2017 NBA Schedule: Power Ranking all Seventeen of the Clippers’ SEGABABAs

Have you ever stayed up at night pondering life’s unanswerable questions? Well, we can’t help you with that — but we did answer a question that probably no one’s ever asked Some call it “the finest acronym in the English language.” Others say it negatively impacts the quality of regular season games and puts unnecessary wear and tear on players. However you feel about the acronym SEGABABA or the phenomenon it describes (SEcond GAme of a BAck to BAck), neither appears to be going away anytime soon. While the NBA has been taking steps to spread out the schedule and reduce the...
