Dalembert: 'Tough' sitting so much vs. Warriors

DALLAS – The biggest bright spot for the first seven games of the Mavericks’ marathon homestand mostly warmed the bench in the finale. This wasn’t a case of Samuel Dalembert earning another stint in coach Rick Carlisle’s doghouse. The smallball Warriors simply forced the Mavs to go away from playing a traditional center. Dalembert played only seven minutes, starting both halves. The Warriors outscored the Mavs by 15 points during that span, giving Dalembert the worst plus-minus in the game.

Nelson: Dalembert “absolutely” will be a Maverick next season

Samuel Dalembert’s second half of the season has swung the pendulum heavily in favor of him being a Dallas Maverick again next season. President of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said Dalembert, who has only half of next season’s $3.9-million salary …

Mavs believe the signing of Dalembert was a bargain

Nelson: Dalembert will be back in Dallas next season

DALLAS – As far as president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson is concerned, the Mavericks don’t have to make a decision about Samuel Dalembert’s partially guaranteed contract this summer. That decision has already been made. The Mavs signed Dalembert to a two-year deal this summer, but only $1.8 million of the big man’s $3.87 million salary next season is guaranteed. However, Nelson said the Mavs fully intend to have Dalembert return next season.

Switch has flipped for Samuel Dalembert

DALLAS – Samuel Dalembert must have thought he was dreaming Saturday morning. The play the Mavericks planned to run to open that night’s game against the Sacramento Kings was designed to get Dalembert a 16-foot jump shot. It was Dirk Nowitzki’s job to set a pick for him. “You should have seen that smile on my face in shootaround,” Dalembert said with a laugh after the Mavs’ win. “You ever seen the Kool-Aid smile?

Dalembert (back) questionable vs. Clippers

DALLAS – Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert woke up with a stiff back and will be a game-time decision Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. “We’ll try to get him ready to play tonight,” coach Rick Carlisle told reporters after Dalembert was moving gingerly at shootaround. Dalembert is having an outstanding homestand, averaging 7.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 23.3 minutes over the last five games. That includes a 12-point, 15-rebound, seven-block performance in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

Dalembert dominated? Do it again

DALLAS – Samuel Dalembert’s best performance in a Dallas Mavericks uniform might get overlooked after an overtime loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that Dalembert’s dominance as an interior defender and rebounder was one of the big reasons the Mavs had a chance to beat Brooklyn. The big man posted season highs in blocks (seven), rebounds (15) and minutes (35) while scoring 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting and hitting a couple of clutch free throws that gave the Mavs a four-point lead in the final minute of regulation.
