Peachtree Hoops Mailbag: Talking Lou Williams trade, John Jenkins and more

In this month's mailbag we talk about a variety of topics including how deep the Hawks' rotation might go and what's going on with Elton Brand. The dog days of the NBA summer can't slow down the Peachtree Hoops mailbag. Lets get right to it. Of all the new additions to the roster, who do you think will have the biggest impact next year on the court? The easy answer here is Thabo Sefolosha but I'm going with Kent Bazemore who looks like a rotation piece for the first time in his NBA career. I think the move to acquire Bazemore could pay off in the same way it did last season with DeMarre...

Atlanta Hawks Free Agency Rewind: Thabo Sefolosha adds much needed depth

As we roll into the dog days of the NBA summer, we take a look back at the free agent additions of the Atlanta Hawks and how they will fit with the team. The Atlanta Hawks went into the offseason with one distinct goal and that was to add size and depth to the wing position. While they were unable to make a big splash, they did acquire some pieces that will add depth and fill some glaring holes from last season's team. The '96 Sonics vs. '12 Thunder Clash: Thabo Sefolosha vs. Hersey Hawkins

A clash of pickpockets and pocket shooters. Thabo Sefolosha has always struggled with the 3 and D role. The D part was no problem. His low center of gravity rendered him able to stop the greatest of scorers, and his ability to read and anticipate perimeter passes won the Thunder more than a few possessions. The three part is another story. His percentages might tell you that he was a good shooter, but you'd be completely wrong. For some reason, Thabo was never very good at knocking down standstill shots. Hersey Hawkins, on the other hand, is the Thabo Sefolosha we always wanted. He made...

Thabo Sefolosha's deal with the Atlanta Hawks is front loaded

Thabo Sefolosha's 3-year, $12 million dollar deal with the Atlanta Hawks is front loaded and declines in value over the life of the deal. The Atlanta Hawks acquired Thabo Sefolosha in a sign and trade deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this summer. He agreed to a three-year deal worth $12 million total. Mark Deeks at ShamSports.com has a breakdown of Sefolosha's new deal which shows that the contract is slightly front loaded and decreases in value. 2014/2015 $4,150,000 2015/2016 $4,000,000 2016-2017 $3,850,000 Its not a significant savings on Atlanta's part but is a...
