Josh Jackson continues to impress in opening slate of his NBA career

It’s hard to deny Jackson’s impact even this early on. Through the first four preseason games, with T.J. Warren and Devin Booker both missing preseason time, Phoenix’s No. 4 pick Josh Jackson has had a lot of opportunities to learn on the job. After three consecutive games where Jackson had trouble taking care of the ball, in 40 minutes he only had three turnovers this time, a preseason-low. Jackson finished off his night as the team’s number one option on offense with 22 points on 9-19 shooting (0-3 3PT, 4-5 FT). Jackson has averaged 15 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block...

Practice Notebook: Suns show new promising lineup variation; Jackson ready to bring on the challenge of NBA’s elite

Thursday’s observations from Suns media availability. In Tuesday’s preseason opener in Portland against the Trail Blazers, which the Suns came out as winners in a 114-112 comeback, head coach Earl Watson featured a starting lineup of Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, T.J. Warren, Marquese Chriss, and Tyson Chandler. With lineups still fluid at this point in time, it’s entirely possible we could see a different edition this time around in Salt Lake City against the Jazz on Friday. During Thursday’s media availability, again which only lasts a portion of practice, Watson showcased a new...

Reserves lead Phoenix Suns to 114-112 comeback win over Portland Trail Blazers

A 41-point 4th quarter outburst made the difference for Phoenix Perhaps the Phoenix Suns are saving the defensive improvement for the regular season. The Portland Trail Blazers led 63-46 at halftime on the strength of Damian Lillard’s 14 points, 48.1-percent shooting from the field as a team, and 13 turnovers by Phoenix, but the Suns proved no lead is safe in a preseason game. Trailing 85-73 entering the 4th quarter, a lineup of Mike James, Troy Daniels, T.J. Warren, Dragan Bender, and Alex Len went on a 27-9 run to take a 100-94 lead down the stretch. Portland would trim the advantage to...
