What happened to Trevor Ariza's shooting?

After shooting his mind out and playing great defense last season in Washington, Trevor Ariza signed with the Rockets and was expected to replicate what he did in D.C. He hasn't done that so far. The Rockets only shoot 43.9 percent from the field as a team, 23rd in the league. It doesn't help that the player that's supposed to be their best shooter has struggled immensely. Back in his second stint as a Rocket, Trevor Ariza is putting up 12.5 points per game, which is the third-highest of his career. But he's doing it at an all-time low 37.1 percent shooting. His first stint with the Red...

A fine for Rockets’ Trevor Ariza after bumping Stephen Curry?

Rockets guard Trevor Ariza may be a little lighter in the wallet soon. During the Rockets’ 126-113 loss at Golden State on Wednesday night, Ariza bumped Warriors star Stephen Curry during the third quarter, setting off a minor rhubarb: A little after the game, Ariza posted the following on his Twitter account. It’s fairly easy […]

Rockets quiet the Jazz behind Harden's 30 points

Utah had more turnovers than The Beard had points, and The Beard had plenty of points. With about a minute and a half left in the game, Utah's Jeremy Evans found himself in a  2-on-1 fast break opportunity. As he went up for the powerful slam he misguided the ball and it ricocheted backward off of the top of the rim. Houston was up 77-94 and this was perhaps the perfect metaphor for how the game had gone for the Jazz. An embarrassing missed opportunity. Over four quarters, Houston forced an unbelievable 31 turnovers. Some of that was good defense, (Trevor Ariza had five steals and Dontas...

Trevor Ariza regains his shooting touch

As Trevor Ariza’s shooting slump moved toward record-setting levels, Rockets coach Kevin McHale insisted he was not concerned, citing Ariza’s uncompromised defense and the probability that Ariza would turn things around. Still, when Ariza made 6 of 10 shots on Thursday, ending a stretch of 27-consecutive games hitting fewer than half his shots — six […]

Five things we learned from the Rockets’ victory over Knicks

Rockets 120, Knicks 96 If the Rockets gained anything from their workout against the Knicks, besides the win that was certain as soon as the team charter successfully touched down in New York, it might be to get Trevor Ariza going again. Ariza had failed to make 50 percent of his shots in 27-consecutive games, […]

Wiz Insider: Trevor Ariza ‘happy’ with decision to join Rockets

HOUSTON — Trevor Ariza recalls his time as a member of the Washington Wizards in two parts. There was Year One, when the Wizards lost 53 games and he wasn’t prepared for the cold weather in the District. That wasn’t fun. Then there was Year Two, when Washington broke through with a trip to the Eastern Conference semifinals and Ariza became acclimated with his surroundings, from the weather to his teammates. That was fun.Read full article >>

Wizards open grueling road trip with victory against Rockets, Trevor Ariza

HOUSTON — If the offseason proceeded how the Washington Wizards had envisioned on July 1, when the NBA’s wild free agency period began, they would have re-signed Trevor Ariza. Bringing back the premier perimeter defender and positive locker-room presence was a top priority. An aggressive recruiting campaign, which included visits to Ariza’s Los Angeles home from players and Coach Randy Wittman, was evidence.Read full article >>
