Houston Rockets power forward Ryan Anderson (illness) has been listed as doubtful for Tuesday's meeting with the Miami Heat. What It Means: Anderson's illness comes on the same night that Clint Capela (knee) is expected to return, so the Rockets won't be too thin in the frontcourt if Anderson can't play tonight. Look for Sam Dekker and Trevor Ariza to potentially see slight up-ticks in minutes. Our models are high on Ariza tonight, projecting him for 14.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals in 37.0 minutes of action. Source: Rotoworld.com

Ryan Anderson (illness) won't play for Rockets against Miami

Houston Rockets forward/center Ryan Anderson (illness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat. What It Means: Corey Brewer will start in place of Anderson, whose absence will also create more offensive opportunities for James Harden and Eric Gordon. Anderson should be considered questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite the starting nod going to Brewer, our models are high on Trevor Ariza tonight, projecting him for 14.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.9 3-pointers in 37.0 minutes of...

Unnecessary first-half deficit keeps Hornets from completing comeback

Unnecessary first-half deficit keeps Hornets from completing comeback

Trevor Ariza and Corey Brewer contributing heavily to a 67-point first half built a Houston Rockets lead that was too much to fight back from for the Charlotte Hornets. The Charlotte Hornets fought valiantly last night against one of the best teams in the NBA, the now 31-9 Houston Rockets. Despite missing two key players in Nicolas Batum and Cody Zeller and facing a 20-point disadvantage in the last period, the bees had the ball down by 3 with 28 seconds left and thus had the chance to at least force overtime. Moreover, Charlotte earned the right to earn the victory while playing on...

Rockets turn on the juice in the fourth to down Raptors 129 - 122

It didn’t look good for three quarters, but James Harden and Montrezl Harrell made sure the Rockets left Toronto with a win. The Houston Rockets once again came out slow tonight against the Toronto Raptors and found themselves trailing by double digits for large chunks of the game, but they rallied behind another James Harden triple double, Montrezl Harrell’s near-perfect shooting and Trevor Ariza’s touch from beyond the arc to outlast the Raptors down the stretch in a 129 - 122 victory. The Beard finished with 40 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks and played some...

Less is more: How Trevor Ariza has been revived this year

Less is more: How Trevor Ariza has been revived this year

Trevor Ariza is less involved this season, and that’s been good for both him and Rockets. One of the biggest changes we were hoping to see this season for the Rockets was a slight reduction in the responsibilities of Trevor Ariza. With no other real perimeter threats last year, Ariza was forced into heavy minutes and a big workload on both sides of the ball, and it didn’t work out as well as anyone would have hoped. That’s changed this year. With the help the Rockets have gotten for Ariza in the form of Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon, the 31-year-old veteran has seen both his minutes...

NBA completes investigation of Mavericks-Rockets antics

Mejri’s alleged comments were over the line, but the NBA is right in avoiding ramifications. Days after Rockets forward Trevor Ariza and teammates waited outside the Mavs’ locker room to confront center Salah Mejri, the NBA has completed its investigation, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. There will be no penalties for Mejri or Ariza following their on-court altercation and postgame near-standoff. According to sources, Mejri allegedly made a derogatory comment about Ariza’s family in a chippy contest featuring eight technical fouls and two flagrant fouls. Ariza was...
