Lakers Podcast: What impact will Yi Jianlian have on the Lakers?

We may have no idea how much his contract is going to be worth, but the Los Angeles Lakers’ signing Yi Jianlian appears to be all but an inevitability at this point. The former sixth overall pick was the third-leading scorer at the Olympics, but it remains to be seen how he’ll fare in his return to the United States. This news unfortunately broke right after hosts Harrison Faigen and Anthony Irwin has finished recording the latest episode of Locked on Lakers, but they came back and tried to figure out what the team might be thinking with this potential move, and if they think Yi will make his...

The Lakers are trying to sign Yi Jianlian in free agency for some reason

The team may have found a use for their open roster spot. The Los Angeles Lakers “are in advanced discussions to try to bring China star Yi Jianlian back to the NBA,” according to Marc Stein of ESPN. The Lakers currently have 14 players on their roster, one slot below the league maximum of 15, and could create an additional spot should they act on their reported interest in moving on from Nick Young. Jianlian last played in the NBA in 2012, when he appeared in 30 games and averaged 6.8 minutes per appearance for the Dallas Mavericks. More recently, Jianlian was the third leading scorer...
