The Nuggets and Warriors switched roles for an evening. Okay, so the Warriors were without Klay Thompson, Shaun Livingston, Zaza Pachulia, and David West. Roles were reversed on Monday as the Nuggets hit 24 three-pointers during the game, tying a league record, and beat the Warriors, 132-110.

Explain One Play: Dubs Double DeMarcus, Durant Dunks

The W’s double-teamed Cousins and turned defense to offense, and the Kings couldn’t make them pay in the Feb 15th game. The Warriors defense has three key features. First, almost everyone on the roster can reliably switch assignments when screened (except for Stephen Curry, JaVale McGee, and Zaza Pachulia). Second, for players who can drive to the rim one-on-one, the Dubs often play a goalie, sometimes called a strong-side overload, or a shadow. This, for only the most dominant players in a groove, the Warriors double-team them and scramble to recover. Today, DeMarcus Cousins started...

Warriors won’t ‘initiate’ calls at trade deadline

With the All-Star break looming, Golden State owns an NBA-best record of 46-9. The recent injuries to centers Zaza Pachulia and David West, both of whom are expected to return shortly after the All-Star break, have allowed the Warriors to evaluate their frontcourt options. JaVale McGee, Kevon Looney, James Michael McAdoo and Damian Jones have seized the opportunity, showing the front office that they can be reliable contributors. The former NBA Development League standout, who has totaled eight points, three rebounds and four assists in four appearances, is expected to sign his second...

More playing time helping Warriors’ front-court reserves

The meaningful minutes those four have logged should benefit the Warriors come playoff time. The player long known for his blooper reel has averaged 9.3 points on 64.1 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 16.5 minutes with Pachulia out with a strained right rotator cuff. Looney’s high point came in Wednesday’s rout of the Bulls, when he had 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting with four rebounds in 14 minutes. The Warriors intend to sign guard Briante Weber to a second 10-day contract Tuesday, a source confirmed to The Chronicle. Weber, whose initial 10-day deal ran through...

Warriors’ Patrick McCaw to start against depleted Denver

DENVER — Warriors guard Patrick McCaw will start Monday night against the Nuggets in place of Klay Thompson, who is out with a sore right foot. With Thompson and backup point guard Shaun Livingston (personal) out Monday, head coach Steve Kerr said Briante Weber will play meaningful minutes. Weber, an NBA Development League pick-up who is expected to sign his second 10-day contract Tuesday, has totaled six points, two rebounds and one assist in three appearances. In addition to being without Thompson and Livingston, Golden State won’t have centers Zaza Pachulia (right rotator cuff...

Warriors vs Nuggets preview: Golden State tries to stay focused after an emotional win

Coming off of Kevin Durant’s return to Oklahoma City and in advance of the All-Star break, will the Warriors be ready for a matchup with a short-handed Nuggets team? If Golden State comes out sharp, we could get an extended look at newly-signed Briante Weber in a blowout. Klay Thompson tops 20 points for 7th straight game

In the Warriors’ 130-114 win over the Thunder, Thompson had 26 points on 7-of-12 shooting (5-of-8 from three-point range). An expert at moving off the ball, Thompson might be the Warriors’ most explosive scorer. In a lineup stocked with outstanding scorers, Thompson is free to hit open jumpers and lock down the opponent’s best defensive player. JaVale McGee continues to thrive as the fill-in starter with center Zaza Pachulia sidelined by a right rotator cuff strain. Pachulia, who has missed the past six games, is not expected to return until after the All-Star break.

Zaza Pachulia, David West ruled out Wednesday for Warriors

Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia (rotator cuff) and power forward David West (thumb) have been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Bulls. What It Means: Pachulia still can't practice and likely remains a few games away. The Warriors lean more on their small ball lineups without Pachulia, so Andre Iguodala should continue to see a boost in minutes. His appeal is limited to deeper formats. Iguodala is averaging 7.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 3-pointers in 29.6 minutes over the past three contests without...

Zaza Pachulia expected to return 'soon' - Zaza Pachulia (F/C) Golden State Warriors

Zaza Pachulia said he's intent on re-signing with the Warriors this summer.

Pachulia intent on sticking with Warriors past this season

SACRAMENTO — Zaza Pachulia has experienced the gamut of the NBA: playoff pushes, lengthy losing streaks, solid teammates, bad locker rooms. “I don’t want the season to end,” said Pachulia, who is expected to return soon from a right rotator cuff strain that has sidelined him for Golden State’s past three games. Though not a prototypical interior presence like his predecessor, Andrew Bogut, Pachulia is a sound positional defender adept at setting screens, finding the open man and attacking the glass. Though he has missed seven games this season with minor injuries, the 32-year-old...

Warriors’ Shaun Livingston to return vs. Kings

A valued leader of Golden State’s second unit, he is averaging 5.3 points, two rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Earlier Saturday, the Warriors announced that Draymond Green would return against the Kings after missing Thursday’s win over the Clippers with a left shoulder contusion. Centers Zaza Pachulia (right rotator cuff strain) and David West (fractured left thumb) are expected to miss their third and ninth straight games, respectively. Livingston, Patrick McCaw, Ian Clark and Briante Weber, who was picked up Saturday from the Development League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce.
