WSU: F Brock Motum, F D.J. Shelton, G Mike Ladd, G Royce Woolridge and G Dexter Kernich-Drew. NO LACY --- WSU's DaVonte Lacy watched warmups on the court while standing with the help of crutches. A knee injury has ended his season. FRIENDLY RIVALRY --- Both coaching staffs are amicably talking on the sidelines. Despite the riff between the fans, there's no animosity between the coaches. Washington Huskies March 13, 2013CougCenter The basketball season is all wrapped up and we'll review the senior weekend that was in Pullman after stellar performances from Brock Motum and the rest of the WSU basketball team. We'll also go over their chances in the Pac-12 Tournament and whether they have a legitimate shot at a semifinal run, if not a little farther. Next, we'll ask a big question: should the Pac-12 tournament have been moved to a city without a Pac-12 team, no matter how great the city is to visit? Would rotating the tournament around cities in the conference have worked better than just leaving it in Los Angele...

Simmons helped limit Motum to 18 in UW's 72-68 win over WSU on March 3. In their first meeting, Motum had 15 against Simmons and the Huskies in a 68-63 UW win.

CougCenter The end of the season awards were announced by the Pac-12 on Monday and WSU senior Brock Motum was among those voted to the all-conference teams. Motum was one of five players voted to the All-Pac-12 second team, which is really like the third team since the first team consists of 10 players. The first team is loaded with guards and wings as Andre Roberson and Dwight Powell were the only inside post players to make the first team. No other WSU player received at least three votes for the all-conference team or were honored in any of the other categories. That doesn't come as much of a ...

CougCenter The season isn't quite over -- there's at least one game left -- but after a 51-point, 21-rebound weekend in which WSU posted a pair of improbable wins over UCLA and USC, now feels like the perfect time to appreciate Brock Motum's career as a Coug. Because although it's been a difficult year in so many ways for the big Aussie and his teammates, I want to remember him the way he was this weekend: As a nearly-unstoppable force who is still capable of imposing his will on a basketball game. In his Pullman swan song, Motum was everything we thought he would be this season after he stormed ...

USC Trojans March 9, 2013Orange County Register PULLMAN, Wash. – After scoring and being fouled late in the first half of Saturday's game, Washington State forward Brock Motum held his index finger to his lips, then pointed at USC's bench to make sure the Trojans understood his message. "The...
USC Trojans March 9, 2013
CougCenter Washington State completed a highly-successful final homestand by blowing out the USC Trojans, 76-51, at Beasley Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. Brock Motum was the star for his final game on Friel Court, pouring in 31 points and adding 10 rebounds. The Cougars came out hot for the second-straight game, led by 21 first-half points from Motum. They built a 39-20 halftime lead on the strength of tough defense, solid offensive rebounding, and some timely three-point shooting. USC responded with a big run to start the second half. It didn't take long for the Trojans to cut WSU's lead to f...

CougCenter Washington State's regular season comes to an end today at Friel Court and as part of the regular season finale, the Cougars will hold senior day festivities for Mike Ladd and Brock Motum. Ladd has missed the last six games due to injury, but Ken Bone called him "questionable" to play on Saturday. Questionable may not sound promising, but it's better than "out" so we'll take it. Injuries derailed Ladd's WSU career, so I guess it's fitting that he would be listed as questionable on senior night. It wouldn't surprise me if Ladd suits up, even if he doesn't play much. As for Motum, Saturd...

CougCenter The current slide of the basketball team has made it a challenge to find non-depressing trivia questions, but I'll do my best. While Brock Motum may not be having quite the season some expected, he did eclipse the 500 point mark on the season. That brings us to today's questions. Q1: Motum has two 500+ point seasons in his career, who holds the WSU record for the most seasons with at least 500 points and how many times did he do it? Q2: Eleven different players have topped 500 points in a single season. The list includes many of the usual suspects, but a few wild cards. Name all 11 pla...
