Gobbler Country Well unfortunately Hokies, I have bad news in regards to Erick Green's day two performance at the NBA Draft Combine. Green did not appear on the floor with the point guards at the beginning of testing, and concerned, I began looking around the interweb and with the help of our wonderful North Carolina SB Nation blog, Tar Heel Blog, I was able to find this: Scary moment earlier with Erick Green banging knees with Kabongo. Looked bad for a moment but thankfully he's OK. Just a bruise. #nbacombine — Jonathan Givony (@DraftExpress) May 17, 2013 Obviously it's good to hear that it appears...

Gobbler Country Erick Green has perhaps the best chance to be drafted of any Hokie in the modern era. Though Tech has not been a hotbed of future NBA'ers, nor has it produced the best basketball pedigree, it has produced a handful of individual players who were good enough to make it to the NBA, though some for one reason or another did not. With Green's combination of size, athleticism and natural scoring-ability, he projects as a better prospect than some of the previous Tech players who were undersized or on-par for their position average, or were defensive specialists the like of Deron Washington ...
Virginia Tech Hokies May 10, 2013ACC Now | News & Observer GREENSBORO — N.C. State shut down Erick Green and Joe Harris to get to the semifinals of the ACC tournament. Miami's Durand Scott has proven more difficult to defend. Scott scored 19 points in the first half to lead the top-seeded Hurricanes to a 41-29 halftime lead over the Wolfpack. N.C. State, playing for the third time in as many days, started sluggish while Scott heated up. The Wolfpack had five missed shots and two turnovers on its first seven possessions. N.C. State held Virginia Tech's Green, the nation's leading scorer, to 15 points on Thursday and Virginia's Harris to 13 in Friday's ...
North Carolina State Wolfpack March 16, 2013Hokies Journal | Washington Post Erick Green knew the moment was coming and yet it caught him off guard. In his dreams this week, he saw himself holding the ACC tournament trophy on Sunday afternoon after he and his Virginia Tech teammates “shocked the world” by winning four straight games as the No. 12 seed in a 12-team tournament. Virginia Tech Hokies March 14, 2013ACC Now | News & Observer GREENSBORO -- After practicing at the Greensboro Coliseum on Wednesday, N.C. State guard Lorenzo Brown said his balky ankle hampers him more on defense than offense. He proceeded to make a mockery of that statement Thursday. Sore left ankle, taped-up right thumb, whatever -- Brown locked down Virginia Tech guard Erick Green, the ACC player of the year and nation’s leading scorer, holding him to 15 points, more than 10 below his average, on 5-for-19 shooting without a single assist. At one point in the second half, after Green had the ball knocked away from him in the lane, he looked pleadingly...
North Carolina State Wolfpack March 14, 2013ACC Now | News & Observer GREENSBORO — N.C. State didn't win many games in the regular season with its defense. The Wolfpack won its first postseason game on Thursday with a strong defensive effort against the nation's leading scorer. Fifth-seeded N.C. State held Virginia Tech's Erick Green to take a 80-63 win in the first round of the ACC tournament on Thursday in Greensboro. Forward Richard Howell led N.C. State with 22 points and 12 rebounds but it was Lorenzo Brown's defense on Green which stood out. (Read more about the Brown-Green matchup here.) Green finished with 15 points, 10 below his season average, as the ...
North Carolina State Wolfpack March 14, 2013Hokies Journal | Washington Post GREENSBORO, N.C. — All season long as the losses piled up, Erick Green just kept on scoring. He led the nation in points and free throws, unfazed by defenses designed to stop him. This week, he joined the late Len Bias as the only players in ACC history to be named conference player of the year from a team with a losing league record. Read full article >>

Gobbler Country We made our case for Erick Green to be the ACC Player of the Year one week ago. It wasn't difficult to do, but being that Green was on a last placed team at the time (which ended up finishing alone in dead last) and as this team was not Duke or North Carolina, I felt like Green had about as good of a chance as hell freezing over. That sentiment was nearly confirmed to me yesterday as the All-ACC teams were released. Green made the first team, and comfortably, but did not receive unanimous votes like fellow ACC POY candidate Mason Plumlee. But as the day went on, many ACC media types po...
Virginia Tech Hokies March 12, 2013Hokies Journal | Washington Post On the list of goals that hangs near his bed, Virginia Tech point guard Erick Green originally didn’t write down “ACC player of the year.” After a fast start to conference play, the list was amended even though Green figured he would get passed over for individual awards given his team’s struggles on the court. Virginia Tech Hokies March 11, 2013Hokies Journal | Washington Post DURHAM, N.C. — Erick Green and Virginia Tech were in prime position to ruin the final home game for three Duke seniors. Gobbler Country Few Virginia Tech basketball fans remember a spritely Erick Green walking onto the court against the Brown Bears in the Hokies' first game of the 2009-10 season. I was there, simply to look at the incoming freshman class. The Hokies eventually took four players in that 2009 class: Erick Green, Cadarian Raines, Ben Boggs and Manny Atkins (only two of which remain with the team). It was a relatively nondescript game for Green who had a total of 3 points on 1-1 from the field (1-1 from deep) and a turnover in 3 total minutes of action. He was one of only two freshman to play in that game ...
