Is Jared Berggren NBA material?

Bucky's 5th Quarter — The recent Wisconsin grad has worked out for Phoenix, Portland, Minnesota and Brooklyn after a strong finish at Portsmouth. He's based in Chicago right now, managed by Priority Sports. DraftExpress caught up with Jared Berggren recently to quiz him on how preparation is going for the next step in his career. Berggren's shot release to the side of his head isn't the prettiest, but damn if he doesn't make sinking five straight 3-pointers look easy in this video. Since graduating in May, Berggren has emerged from his workout bunker in Chicago, battling against players like Mason Plumlee a...

Berggren Needs to Take Advantage of Portsmouth Invite

Bucky's 5th QuarterJared Berggren's talent was always apparent during his career at Wisconsin, even if he didn't display it routinely. Maybe he fooled us last year into thinking he was a legit 3-point marksman when he made 45-of-121 (37.2%) treys. But his 27-point outburst against Creighton gave us hope that he was going to have a dominant senior season. Intertwined with a handful of thunderous dunks and few clutch moments were his steady defense and rim protection. Dominance never materialized. Berggren finished his college tenure scoring in single digits in five of his last eight games. This week, Berg...

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ole Miss Rebels NCAA Tournament Preview: Blogger Q&A with Bucky's 5th Quarter

Red Cup Rebellion — 1. Who would you say the most valuable players offensively and defensively are for the Badgers? That's a harder question than you would think because this year's Wisconsin team takes such a balanced approach on both ends. On defense, though, center Jared Berggren is the anchor. He's the school's record-holder in blocked shots and has good feet for a big man. Offensively, four guys average around 10 ppg, but I'd have to settle on remarkably efficient freshman Sam Dekker as the MVP. Coming off the bench for only 22 minutes per game, Dekker still pours in 9.4 ppg as the team's top deep th...

Halftime: Wisconsin 34, Indiana 31

Bucky's 5th Quarter — CHICAGO, Ill. -- Behind a brilliant first-half performance from Ryan Evans, the Badgers own a 34-31 lead at the half in Saturday's Big Ten Semifinal. Evans poured in a game-high 10 first-half points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled in a game-high five rebounds in an impressive first half. Pressure was on Evans to make things happen on offense with both Jared Berggren and Traevon Jackson in foul trouble. Berggren scored just two points on one shot; Jackson was 2-for-4 with four points when he picked up his second foul. Victor Oladipo leads the Hoosiers with eight points but has played an u...

Badgers Blog | Milwaukee Journal Sentinel — Chicago – We’ll have a story up later looking at Wisconsin’s state of readiness as it prepares for its quarterfinal game in the Big Ten tournament. As an appetizer, here is what Jared Berggren said UW must do in order to survive and advance at the United Center.“Just sticking to our rules, sticking to what helped us be successful,” he said. “In some of our last games we’ve turned the ball over too much, given up too much in transition and haven’t done a great job rebounding.“Those are all things that just come down to execution.”UW went 1-2 in its last three regular-season games. In a 69-56 loss...
