A Look At Who Is Coming And Going In Triangle Basketball

A Look At Who Is Coming And Going In Triangle Basketball

Things won’t slow down much at all. Time was this was a lot less complicated than it is today but here’s a rundown of the players who are leaving and coming back from the Triangle’s ACC teams. You probably already know about Duke if you’re reading this site but you might want to catch up on UNC and State. For one thing, with Duke’s Tre Jones, NC State’s Markell Johnson and Cole Anthony at UNC, point guard play in the Triangle next season is going to be unbelievably ferocious. Cam Reddish Surgery Scheduled

Cam Reddish Surgery Scheduled

Not a major problem but that’s always easy to say about someone else’s problem Right after we learned about Tre Jones having two post-season surgeries we learn that Cam Reddish is going to have one of his own. Reddish apparently has what is being called a core muscle injury. That’s pretty vague but we can’t know how much it affected him but on some level it’s bound to have handicapped him. The surgery is billed as minor and he’s expected to be 100% in about six weeks. If you're going to shop Amazon please start here and help DBR DBR Auctions|Blue Healer Auctions| Drop us a...

Duke Will Expect A Lot From Tre Jones Next Season

Duke Will Expect A Lot From Tre Jones Next Season

Coach K will need a lot from his star sophomore point guard Apparently Tre Jones is on the Surgeon’s Preferred Shopper’s Plan. Every 10th surgery is free. Okay, that’s an exaggeration. But since the end of the 2018-’19 season Jones has had right hip surgery-about a month ago--and hernia surgery, last Friday. And this is after missing last summer’s Canadian tour following surgery to the other hip and missing part of last season with a shoulder injury. But if surgery is the beginning of how-I-spent-summer vacation, then he expects to write a very different ending to his...

More Reasons To Love Tre Jones

More Reasons To Love Tre Jones

Tough kid and determined We’ll have more on this later but two quick bits on Tre Jones: First, he says he wasn’t even interested in testing the NBA waters because he had a lot left to accomplish at Duke. And second, since the season ended he’s had surgeries for a hernia and a hip issue. It’s amazing what he did dealing with that during the season. Matthew Hurt On What Drew Him To Duke

Matthew Hurt On What Drew Him To Duke

The Minnesotan pipeline still flows to Durham Here’s a nice piece on Matthew Hurt and what drew him to Duke: basically having the freedom to grow as a player. Hurt is an outstanding shooter and Duke sold him on the idea of position less basketball. He also likes the idea of playing with Tre Jones: “Just his vision, his passing and how he plays defense. I think he’s the best point guard, defensively last year and this year he will be, too. Playing with a point guard like that will benefit me.” It would benefit pretty much anybody. A Look At Tre Jones As An NBA Point Guard

A Look At Tre Jones As An NBA Point Guard

Underestimate him at your own peril Of course Tre Jones decided to pass on this year’s draft, but this site looks at him as a possible fit for the Chicago Bulls in next year’s draft. The analysis falls back on the same basic thing: that he needs to improve his shooting. Well yes he does. However, he’s a brilliant defender and runs his team well. Everyone has weaknesses. We don’t think it’s something that insurmountable and even if it is, lots of guys can shoot. We saw him do some incredible stuff on defense this year. It was like watching special forces if special forces was in...
