Villanova Basketball: Temple Confirms Date

The Temple Owls have released their 2014-15 non-conference schedule confirming their game at Villanova on Sunday, December 14th. Villanova won last season's game 90-74 en route to the Big 5 Championship. The Wildcats hold a 44-42 all time lead in the series history.

Cowbell Collective: FWtCT Staff Thoughts on Mississippi State's Out of Conference Basketball Schedule

The crew at For Whom the Cowbell Tolls decided to sit down and shoot the breeze about Mississippi State's out of conference basketball schedule. Mississippi State released it's out of conference schedule for the 2014-2015 basketball season earlier this week, and the Bulldogs have an interesting slate of foes for the first part of the basketball season.  The resident geniuses of the blog decided to take a look at the schedule and share their thoughts. I'd prefer to catch a couple more teams poised for good seasons, but we've got some "name" teams in there - St. Louis, Bradley/TCU, Oregon...

Cal Football media guide 2014: Jared Goff cover, roster updates, PDF download

Get your media guide now! CLICK HERE to download the PDF! You can view it in sections here. As expected, Jared Goff is the cover boy. We have some roster updates for you from the cover guide. You might notice that Darren Ervin is no longer on the roster. That’s because he’s moved up to the coaching ranks. Ervin joins Jahvid Best as a student assistant coach. So I guess we’ll have plenty of running back coaching this season if Pierre Ingram needs it! (Ervin also played some defensive back in high school so maybe he can help out there too). Speaking of Ingram, he is officially the...

ACC Football 2014 Position Rankings: Defensive Line

Defensive line looks like a strength in this year's ACC; so who has the best (and worst) units? Yesterday, we took a look at Syracuse's entire defensive line. Sure, it's nice to see how our depth chart shakes out. But it's even more useful to see how it looks in comparison to our main competition: the rest of the ACC. Yes, the Orange bring back plenty of defensive line experience from 2013, but they've also lost that unit's best player, Jay Bromley. Elsewhere in the conference, many of the other top D-linemen do return and figure to make a major impact for their respective teams....

Wisconsin basketball recruiting: Badgers not shy about new offers

Wisconsin basketball recruiting: Badgers not shy about new offers

Even as the Wisconsin coaching staff pounds the pavement showing love to their top targets, the Badgers recently extended exciting, new offers in the 2015 and 2016 classes. Bo Ryan just took Wisconsin to its first Final Four since 2000 and if you don't think he wants to get back to a second one, you haven't been paying attention to recruiting. The Badgers came out gunning with offers last spring to the brightest stars in the 2015 class -- guys like Henry Ellenson, Charles Matthews and Carlton Bragg. They sprinkled in a few more important offers since then, but basically Ryan and his...

Your Official Tom Jurich Maker's Mark Bottle Thread

Your Official Tom Jurich Maker's Mark Bottle Thread

The Tom Jurich Maker's Mark bottles officially hit stores in the city this morning, and despite the claims from some rival fans that the bottle wouldn't sell, it appears to be selling so well that some stores are attempting to capitalize on the situation by forcing customers to purchase less popular rivalry merchandise. Maker's Mark is concerned about this (also concerned about the mark-up), and would like you to alert them if you happen to come upon any stores pulling similar shenanigans. Aside from that, the day seems to be going swimmingly. Line for Tom Jurich Maker's Mark bottles...

MnB B1G Preview: Know Your Foe - The Ohio State Version

And so it has come to this. It's no easy task to willingly and calmly discuss one's most-despised rival. Nothing I say here could be classified as new or long-lost information. Ohio State has been -- and always will be -- Michigan's most-storied rival. Let us know them thusly: And now for something completely different. Columbus does two things well: food and football. However, that doesn't excuse it from being The Den of Cheaters (as it was briefly known to all who searched for The Horeshoe on Google Maps once). I have never visited Columbus, but I know members of our MnB community have....

2013-2014 BCI Awards: Post of the Year - Super Andre Williams

Of all the BCI posters to get linked by Deadspin, it had to be Grant? Yes, yes it did So technically speaking, this wasn't supposed to be one of the award categories we wrote about to wrap up the 2013-2014 season. But a) we ended up with an odd number of categories and b) multiple members of the panel mentioned the "Super Andre Williams" video at various points on their ballots. As the Andre Williams for Heisman hype machine cranked up, Grant created this video of Andre Williams as Super Mario: The video quickly racked up over 100,000 views (it's up over 200,000 now) and got links...

ASU Football: Defensive outlook murky after loss of Stuckey, Caldwell

Lacking two players who were expected to contribute in 2014, the Sun Devils must re-evaluate. Coming into spring practice in preparation for the 2014 season, there were numerous questions about the state of the Sun Devil defense. The loss of Devilbacker Carl Bradford requires somebody to step into Arizona State's most complicated defensive position immediately and provide security against both the pass and run. The loss of Bradford in addition to secondary fixtures Alden Darby and Osahon Irabor leave big holes to fill, but the biggest issue ASU now has on defense has to do with the biggest...

Things We DON'T Like

An occasional series that outlines our feelings about non-South Carolina related things. Today - social media faux paus. If you haven't seen this series before, here's an explainer. We've all had it happen - we open Facebook or Twitter, and all of a sudden, we're faced with a sudden, terrifying realization: We're friends with an asshole. It's not your fault - it happens to the very best of social media users, and there's nothing we can do to stop or anticipate it from happening.  You're perusing Instagram and all of a sudden someone starts suggesting [hate group of choice] "really makes...
TNIAAM: All Syracuse Fans Welcome

TNIAAM: All Syracuse Fans Welcome

Let this week be a reminder that sports is still working out it's tolerance issues. Let's try to help that along in our own small way. It's been a weird week, you guys (and gals and those who define themselves in another way). Actually, I take that back. It hasn't been a weird week. It's just been a week in which all of the terrible things we do bubbled up to the surface. We were reminded about our fallacies and how we're still working through a whole host of issues as a society. Specifically, we kicked things off with an otherwise stately man with a sterling reputation in the world of the...

Georgia Tech Football: Five Impact Players - DT Adam Gotsis

Georgia Tech Football: Five Impact Players - DT Adam Gotsis

Our series continues today with a little thunder from 'Down Under' that should be making a huge impact on the defensive line. Adam Gotsis, Junior, Defensive Tackle When he was recruited, Adam Gotsis was seen as an anomaly in a lot of recruiting circles. "Why would Georgia Tech want some kid from Australia? The competition down there isn't any good, so his film is bogus," they all said. Then Gotsis showed up, and immediately proved that he was worth every dollar of scholarship money he was offered. After starting once as a freshman and playing in 12 games, he started all 13 games at...

FedEx: The Least Cool Person Of 2013-14

Nantz voice on Russdemption. The city of Louisville says "we're fed up with FedEx." Nantz voice off It took a (suspiciously) remarkable final hour comeback, but FedEx has etched its name in the history books by becoming the first non-person to be named Card Chronicle's Least Cool Person of the Year. One lost Russ Smith Final Four jersey earned the company a 1,036-996 vote victory over the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee in one of the closest (and surely one of the most controversial) finals in LCPT history. An deservedly uncool photoshop. The plaque (we really need to make one) of...

Hey, who needs Rutgers tickets? I got good ones.... and at a better price than you might get!

Season ticket holders get to purchase single game tickets beginning Monday, July 28. Everyone else gets their chance beginning a week later on August 4. And wait til you hear how prices will change! I got the email on Thursday morning. I got the pre-recorded call from Kyle Flood Thursday afternoon. The notice from Rutgers Ticket Office to season ticket holders was that we would have first crack at single game tickets beginning next Monday (7/28). And I was informed that my prices would be just what is posted, no more. The season ticket holder prices for our games hosting Penn State,...

Texas Longhorns may dismiss more players before exodus ends

So, uh, stay tuned and what not. With five players gone from the Texas Longhorns football team in less than 24 hours and two more indefinitely suspended, the attrition perhaps hasn't quite yet ended for the Horns yet as new head coach Charlie Strong cleans house. For one, the school hasn't yet released on official statement concerning the dismissals, apparently choosing to wait "until the dust settles." And Chip Brown of Horns Digest is reporting that there are two more names that are under review and that a recent random drug test may have contributed to to dismissals. Looking back at...

Know Thy Foe 2014: Wyoming Cowboys

Week three of the 2014 season see a visit to Autzen from the Wyoming Cowboys in the first ever meeting between the schools. Michigan State at Oregon is being hailed as the non-conference matchup of the year. But what if a team had to play Oregon in Eugene and Michigan State in East Lansing in the span of three weeks? That is the fate befallen on the Wyoming Cowboys, who face both squads in the month of September. Despite returning 18 starters, change is the theme of the new season for Wyoming. The Cowboys have a new head coach, Craig Bohl, who led North Dakota State to three straight 1-AA...

Michigan Depth Chart Projection Series: Offensive Line

In our depth chart projection series, we break down each positional group to see who gets the starting nod and who will provide depth throughout the season. In this edition, the offensive line is broken down. The offensive line will be the last offensive group to be broken down, not because it's the largest, because the group obviously had the biggest problems last season. Yes, it's a broken record, but it's an obvious area of concern. The offensive success hinges on a young offensive line in 2014, can it handle the pressure? The Players (Listed in Order by Class) Freshman Mason...

Touring the Memorial Stadium Expansion

We were granted access to the new digs, and some of the additions will astound you. As many of you surely know, the University of Missouri is expanding its football field. Memorial Stadium's East Side Tower Project – which is expected to be completed this August – is the first of several additions that will be made to the venue. Even though the project isn't completely game-ready, I was allowed to take a short tour of the finished areas. The publicized additions all looked quite luxurious, but it was a few of the less well-known rooms that really piqued my interest. Allow me to walk you...
