Oklahoma Sooners Advance To Saturday With 3-1 Win Over Kansas State Wildcats

Last season, the Oklahoma Sooners battled through the losers' bracket to reach the Big 12 Championship Game. Now, a year later, Pete Hughes and company attempt to duplicate the feat. Oklahoma advanced into Saturday of the tournament but ousting the Kansas State Wildcats with some late game heroics to secure a 3-1 victory. The win sets up Bedlam in Tulsa once again. Kolbey Carpenter singled to start the ninth inning later moving over to second on a bunt. A wild pitch from Lucas Benanti allowed easy passage from second to third for Carpenter. Gaining a bit of control, Benanti struck out Sheldon...

Baylor Knocks Out Texas Tech With Timely Hitting

The No. 8 Seeded Baylor Bears eliminated the Texas Tech Red Raiders from the Big XII Baseball Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Unable to string together a few hits with runners in scoring position, the Red Raiders gave way to their opponent on Friday eventually falling 5-4. On the other side of the equation, the Bears scored 4 of their 5 runs with two outs already on the board. In the seventh inning, Logan Brown provided the leadoff single. Stealing second, Brown secured cemented himself as a scoring threat before moving to third on a sac-bunt. Finally a sac-fly from Duncan Wendel brought...

Miami Baseball Elininated from ACC Tournament Championship with 5-4 Loss to NC Sate in 12

The Miami Hurricanes Baseball Team squandered a golden opportunity to make a strong case for a National Seed and an ACC Tournament Title, with a disappointing 5-4 loss to NC State tonight in extra innings. George Iskenderian's RBI single to right scored Ricky Eusebio to open the scoring for Miami in the top of the 1st, and things were looking good. In the top of the third UM again put a lot of pressure on NC State and again their lead off man was the spark. Eusebio led off with his second straight walk and stole second.  Chris Barr followed suit with a base on balls of his own. Will...

Maryland women's lacrosse moves to NCAA title game with 10-8 win over Syracuse

The story was familiar for the Terps and the Orange. Maryland moves on and Syracuse goes home. In 2014, the Maryland Terrapins were the only team to defeat the Syracuse Orange beating them three times including in the for the National Championship. The Orange weren't as impressive in 2015 but The Terps again ended their season with a 10-8  win to move on to the title game for the third consecutive season. First Half - Strong start; strong finish The opening draw went to Maryland and the Terps needed just 35 seconds to grab a 1-0 lead. Kelly McPartland's quick dodge down the left side drew...

Sooners Come Back From Behind to Beat Alabama, 5-2

The Oklahoma Sooners aren't use to being the underdog under head coach Patty Gasso. But in Tuscaloosa on a Friday night, that's exactly what they were considered to be. They were going up against a sixth seeded Alabama team that was making their 11th straight Super Regional after all. They looked like the underdog through five innings too, getting down 2-0 to the Crimson Tide and not getting anything going with their bats. Then the Sooners played one of the best sixth innings any team has played all season. Senior Callie Parsons singled on the first at bat of the inning, followed by Lauren...

SEC Tournament 2015: Florida gets run-rule revenge on Arkansas, advances to Saturday

Two nights after failing to close out Arkansas, Florida wasted no time finishing off the Razorbacks in Hoover. It took until after 2 a.m. Eastern for Arkansas to stage its upset of Florida on Wednesday-turned-Thursday at the 2015 SEC Tournament. Given a chance at revenge on Friday, the Gators wasted no time getting it. Florida pounced on Arkansas starter Dominic Taccolini for a run in the bottom of the first, then tagged him and reliever Lance Phillips for five more in the bottom of the third, and cruised to a 10-0 victory via the SEC Tournament's run rule after seven innings. Seven Florida...

INDIANA 10, IOWA 2: THE PURGE

Hopefully it's all out of Iowa's system now. Here's a brief recap of Iowa's game against Indiana Friday afternoon: The game was scoreless with two out and nobody on in Indiana's half (bottom) of the second. Two singles later, Hoosier Austin Cangelosi hit a drive to right that Joel Booker couldn't chase down for a two-run triple, and then scored on a throwing error on the same play. With Iowa's tepid offense, it was kind of a 'welp' moment, like when the Hawkeyes fell behind Michigan yesterday, with seemingly little hope to come back. Only today there was no rally to close it down and make...

Michigan Softball Sweeps Georgia to Advance to Women's College World Series

Michigan hangs on to advance to its 11th WCWS in the past 21 seasons. The 2014-15 season was more than a disappointment for Michigan's three most popular sports -- with Michigan football, basketball, and ice hockey all failing to participate in the postseason in the same season for the first time since 1973 -- but Michigan softball -- the fourth-most popular sport -- is picking up the slack. One night after No. 3 seed Michigan overpowered No. 14 seed Georgia, 10-3, in Game 1 of their best-of-three Super Regional series, the Wolverines eked past the Bulldogs, 7-6, in Game 2 to complete the...

Vote on BYU football's 2015 game day t-shirt on Instagram

It seems BYU has called upon an alum graphic designer for the 2015 game day shirt, and you can vote for your favorite. Friday, we learned graphic designer David Lesue, who operates the t-shirt design company Stately Type, has been asked by BYU to create the 2015 football game day shirt. Lesue specializes in customizing designs for American cities and states. Some of them feature wordtype treatments that design the name of the state into the shape of the state. Others, like this Utah shirt, focus on a state-specific theme. He released his three designs on his Instagram page, which are...

WLAX Final Four: No. 3 Syracuse Orange vs. No. 1 Maryland Terrapins GameThread

SU's seniors want to add a National Title to their four Final Four appearance. They'll have to get past pesky Maryland first. For four straight years, the Syracuse Orange women's lacrosse team has made it to the final weekend of the season. The seniors who know nothing but Final Fours would like to do one more thing before they graduate. It's the only thing they have yet to accomplish. Win a National Championship. They can move one step closer to that goal tonight when they take on the No. 1 overall Maryland Terrapins in one of two semifinal match-ups on Friday night. The game will be...

Baseball Recap: Carolina 6 Clemson 3

Carolina might have secured an NCAA tournament berth with a 6-3 win over Clemson in its last game of the ACC tournament. Needing a win to both end the season on the right foot and to give the selection committee a bit more to think about, Carolina beat Clemson 6-3 on Friday in Durham. The Tar Heels opened up a 5-0 lead to support a strong outing by J.B. Bukauskas. Trevor Kelley then came in to seal the game, throwing 3.1 strong innings of relief. The Tar Heel offense was led by Skye Bolt who hit a three run home run to ignite the Heels. Carolina also capitalized on four costly Clemson...

Purdue Football Recruiting: Who Do We Have and What Do We Need?

I'm interrupting the Caleb Swanigan delirium to talk a little 2016 football recruiting. This is a look at who we currently have on the offensive side of the ball, and what that means for 2016 recruiting class. Since the beginning of the Hazell era, Purdue has been recruiting with a cast net. Simply put, we've needed bodies, and we have tossed our net into the water and pulled in whatever we could get. Sure, we've managed to snag a few big fish, but for the most part, we haven't had the luxury of selective recruiting. This recruiting class should be significantly different. As of now, Purdue...

UCLA Baseball Seeks to Pluck the Ducks in Eugene

UCLA tries to remain perfect in season series wins as it travels north to Oregon to take on the Ducks in the final regular season series of the year. The UCLA Bruins baseball team (41-12; 21-6 PAC 12) will travel to Eugene, Oregon this weekend to take on the Oregon Ducks (35-22; 14-13 PAC 12) in the final regular-season series of the year. Although the Bruins have already locked up the PAC 12 title (their third in the last five years under Head Coach, John Savage), this series has significance for UCLA with respect to national seating in the postseason. The series is also significant for...

Card Chronicle is coming to 93.9 The Ville full time

I am extremely pumped to announce that beginning Tuesday, I will be joining 93.9 The Ville full-time as the co-host of The John Ramsey Show from 3-6 on Monday-Friday. Our show will be centered around Louisville sports, it will be hosted by two guys who are unabashed Cardinal fans, and we will have maximal access to the biggest names with the program. That doesn't mean that we're going to sugar-coat it (or just straight out lie) if U of L gets hammered by 30 points in football or basketball, it just means that both of us are going to be open about where we stand and that the show will...

Michigan with 33/1 Odds to Win 2015-16 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship

The way-too-early odds for the 2015-16 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship are out. Place your bets! Michigan has 33/1 odds, meaning a winning $100 bet would pay $3,300, to win the 2015-16 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, according to odds that Bovada has just released. Michigan's 33/1 odds are tied for the 16th-best among all D-I basketball schools and tied for the fourth-best among Big Ten schools. This seems to fall in line with how many project Michigan basketball will perform next season with the healthy return of Caris LeVert and Derrick Walton, the late-season progress from Zak...

The Ultimate Tailgate Bracket Round 1, Appetizers/Snacks Region: (7) Stuffed Artichoke vs. (10) Nacho Cheese Doritos

One of my personal tailgating staples, versus another classic snack of college kids everywhere. No. 7 Stuffed Artichoke Take an artichoke and stuff that sucker to the gills with bread crumbs, garlic and cheese. Pick and ENJOY. You will not only find this at virtually every one of my family's tailgates, it's seldom missed any sort of party. They're always best when you can warm them slightly in the microwave, but nobody's going to care if it's slightly cool or room temperature. No. 10 Nacho Cheese Doritos The single most ubiquitous form of Dorito, and probably the best-selling chip...
