Villanova vs. James Madison: Game Time, TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio

How to watch Villanova-James Madison in their CAA football opener. Longtime CAA power James Madison comes to town on Saturday as the #8 Villanova Wildcats football team plays host in the conference opener for both teams. Last year, the Dukes defeated the Wildcats 31-21 in a game that featured several costly mistakes from the 'Cats offense. The matchup should favor the run-heavy Wildcats, as the Dukes have been gashed on the ground to open the season. Vegas agrees, marking Villanova as 18.5 favorites for the contest. Game Time, TV Schedule: 12:30pm ET, and the game will air on Comcast...

Volleyball: Marquette Shocks #7 Florida, 3-2

It's the first win over a top 10 team in program history. And the student has become the master. Marquette head coach Ryan Theis' last stop before taking his first head coaching position was as an assistant to Florida head coach Mary Wise. On Friday night, Theis returned to Gainesville and his Golden Eagles defeated Wise's #7 ranked Gators, 26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13.  It's the first win over a top 10 team in Marquette volleyball history, and the first win against a ranked opponent since September 7, 2012, when MU defeated #23 Michigan. As was the case the last time Marquette faced...

ASU Hockey: Behind Ryan Ostertag's hat trick, Sun Devils open 2014 with 8-3 win

ASU Hockey: Behind Ryan Ostertag's hat trick, Sun Devils open 2014 with 8-3 win

Arizona State's first night as defending champions ended with an 8-3 victory over visiting Niagara. In most collegiate sports, large and prominent programs will open up their season playing cupcake teams. Unlike in the pros, college sports don't have a preseason, so strong squads tend to schedule weaker teams early in the year to serve as a warm up of sorts. Fresh off a national championship, Arizona State hockey opened up their title defense on Friday night with the first game of a two-game series with Niagara. The Purple Eagles aren't known as a nationally relevant team, as the small...

USF 17, UConn 14. Bulls Dominate Defensively Over Horrible Huskies

At times it was ugly, but it's also a win. USF Football (2-2, 1-0 AAC) opened up their 2014 American Conference campaign with an impressive defensive performance over an oft-inept Connecticut (1-3, 0-1) in a 17-14 win on a rainy Friday night at Raymond James Stadium. Marlon Mack was the Bulls star from the backfield, picking up 116 yards and a rushing touchdown on 31 grueling carries. The USF defense also put in their best performance of 2014, holding the Huskies to just 70 yards of total offense with under two minutes left to play before a late UConn touchdown drive. UConn's first...

SATURDAY TAILGATE: SOUTH CAROLINA

Get yer bourbon and moonshine ready, this is gonna be a harsh one. Or just watch the Clemson-FSU game...or the LSU-State game... Whatever. It's Saturday!  That means footbaw!  It also means it's time to catch up not only on what's been going on at AoG, but read up what's been going on around the league! AoG WEEK IN REVIEW Adam Butler, teddy bear. We won! We won! We... well, we had a game handed to us by a team that out Vanderbilt'd us.  It's a strange feeling, really - for once a team that had a solid lead handed it to us, instead of the other way around.  One thing that's...

Final: USF beats UConn, 17-14

The Bulls have won three straight against the Huskies after a dominating performance at home in the rain. That was terrible. Don't let the score fool you, this game wasn't close at all. South Florida quickly built a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and would have been leading by that margin at the half if it wasn't for a Byron Jones interception return for a touchdown towards the end of it. The Bulls held on across a hideous second half to win, 17-14. The second half started with both teams exchanging punts in a furious battle for field position, one that UConn lost. Time after time they were...

Maryland-Syracuse. It's the Week 4 Preview!

Maryland heads up to the Carrier Dome for a meeting with the Orangemen on Saturday. Let's take a look at the game. Battling Back Maryland dropped their first game of the season against West Virginia last week, losing in heart-breaking fashion. They now have to get off of the canvas and get back on track because the team goes into Big Ten play after this week. If Maryland does not get this win and goes 2-2 entering conference play, they are in SERIOUS jeopardy of missing out on a bowl game for the third time in four years under Randy Edsall. Syracuse, at a perfect 2-0, almost dropped a game...

USF-UConn Postgame Haiku

They won! It was often unwatchable. But they won! Seriously UConnWhy do you play the footballSomeone might get hurt A lot of credit goes to the USF defense, which had allowed only 70 yards before the disaster of the last desperation drive by UConn (prevent while rushing three and dropping eight because WHY???). But UConn is abysmal at football, and the Bulls failed to take enough advantage on offense. It's a win, and that's a good thing. And we absolutely saw progress from N.C. State (especially on D). But there's still a lot to be cleaned up.

Salem silences Clarke Central with late field goal

Clarke Central and Salem needed every bit of 48 minutes to determine Friday night’s game. The difference for the visiting Seminoles (3-1) proved to be kicker Khimahni Brooks, whose 21-yard field goal with 1:24 left in the fourth quarter led to a 19-17 victory, their first over Clarke Central since 2004. “The will to win proved to be the difference tonight”, said Salem head coach John Starr. “Both teams played really hard all night; we were just really fortunate in the end.” read more

Sweet victory: ACS tops PACS for first time since 2009

BOGART | When the scoreboard read 42-32 in Athens Christian’s favor at Prince Avenue on Friday, Eagles coach Chris Williams wasn’t shocked or surprised. He was thrilled. “I knew they were going to play hard and our kids were going to play hard,” Williams said. “We’re excited and thrilled about it, no doubt about it. It’s nice to get a win over Prince. We haven’t had one in the last few years. … But our kids came out and believed in what we were trying to do and believed in it. HOW TO WATCH: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Virginia Tech Hokies

Everything you need to know about today's game in Blacksburg, VA. Here we go! Today, the Jackets make their first stop on the road to the ACC Championship. The next three games are arguably the most crucial four-week stretch remaining on the schedule: today at VT, a bye week, home vs. Miami, and home vs. Duke. Three wins would be huge in getting the Jackets to Charlotte, as they could lose a game down the road and still own the tiebreaker over the top three contenders in the division (you might want to keep an eye on Virginia though). HERE'S THE THING: PITTSBURGH

HERE'S THE THING: PITTSBURGH

Iowa's fans are down. Can Iowa bring them back up again? Here's your math lesson for Friday: If x is the number of losses suffered by your favorite college football team and y is fan expectations, y = 1/x.  If you graph the level of fan expectations based on that simple equation, you get something like this: There is no loss more significant to the fans than the first loss.  Before it, expectations approach infinity.  After it, they collapse. The chances of a 'magical' season, the kind that makes it possible to reference a team based solely on the year -- 1985, 2002, 2009 -- are so...

Maryland Men's Soccer: Terps fall to Michigan State in Big Ten home opener

After coming away with a draw on the road vs Michigan in their Big Ten opener, the Terps returned home to face Michigan State but lost 1-0 After making a decent, if unspectacular start to life in the Big Ten with a 1-1 draw away to Michigan, the Terps looked to get their first win in conference play vs a nationally ranked Michigan State team. Maryland has put together some indifferent displays to start this season, not ever able to really piece it all together. They performed well tonight, but on a familiar note so far, weren't clinical enough, and fell to the Spartans 1-0. First Half The...
