Maryland basketball hosts Bowie State - full coverage

Updates from Maryland basketball's Feb. 9 game against Bowie State. After outlasting Purdue at home on Saturday, Maryland men's basketball is in for quite a change of pace. The Terps will welcome Bowie State to Xfinity Center this Tuesday in the kind of game that is usually reserved for the first week of the season. The Terps are playing the Bulldogs in the dog days of conference play, and this should be nothing short of a domination by the home team. David vs. Goliath really doesn't begin to describe how mismatched these two teams are. Maryland is more talented and taller than almost every...

Maryland gymnastics finishes last at Michigan tri-meet

The Terps were inconsistent on Monday night and finished behind No. 3 Michigan and Eastern Michigan. When a team makes mistakes and doesn't give themselves a chance to win, those can be the toughest losses to swallow. That's what happened to the GymTerps on Monday night in Ann Arbor. Maryland scored a 194.075 at the meet and finished MORE THAN THREE POINTS behind Michigan's 197.425. Here's three things that we learned from the Michigan tri-meet: 1) Michigan is the class of the Big Ten For those that know college gymnastics, this comes as no surprise. Outside of one 9.150 score, the...

Huskies still considered tourney team

Despite going 1-1 at home last week, Coach Romar's team is considered a tournament team according to bracketologists. Despite splitting a home series with the Arizona schools last week, it did not seem to hurt the chances of the Washington Huskies making it to the NCAA Tournament.  Beating ASU in OT on Wednesday and losing a close game against nationally-ranked Arizona kept the Huskies in talk for a birth in the tourney. The Dawgs are 7-4 (15-8 overall), tied for third place overall with the Wildcats in the Pac-12.  Projections currently have the Huskies in the tournament as one of the...

College football players speaking their minds is a good thing

These are big boys. Let 'em say what's on their minds. One of the many running jokes around Good Bull Hunting is our inability to get press credentials from the Texas A&M athletic department. The GBH Pirate Ship gets credentialed by the Southeastern Conference, neutral site stadiums, bowl games, and just about anywhere without Texas A&M letterhead. In fact, the 12thMan.com website has verbiage that looks to be cobbled together to keep Good Bull Hunting specifically away from it's top secret sports enterprises. Internet Sites: Credentials will be granted to the official website of each...

Wisconsin basketball: NCAA tournament resume watch, February edition

They're baa-aack! The Wisconsin men's basketball team has clawed back onto the bubble thanks to its current five-game winning streak. Toppling Michigan State three weeks ago was step one, in essence cancelling out the ugly road loss to Northwestern. Step two was accomplished when UW upended a hot Indiana team on Jan. 26. With a win over Nebraska at home Wednesday night, the Badgers will be in position to finish with a winning conference record, with three very winnable games left against Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. Wisconsin controls its own destiny with plenty of opportunities for...

Rutgers Wrestling: Rankings and other good stuff

Rankings were up and down. But Rutgers picked up a big feather for its headgear with a host spot for the National Duals. Two weekend losses cost Rutgers a couple of spots in the national rankings.  But on an individual basis, several Knights moved up or held steady. Weekly Zag Briefing: Checking in with some Zag Alums, a profile of Domas, and brackets for days

This week in Zag news brought us a lot of interesting pieces for your consumption. Take a look below! Andy Buhler of The Oregonian wrote a great profile on our #11. The piece looks at Domas' relationship with his family, his recruitment by Tommy Lloyd and the decision to attend Gonzaga, and his dreams for the NBA. The Boston Celtics made a valiant effort to get Kelly Olynyk a spot in this weekend's NBA 3-point contest, but their efforts came up short. You can read Kelly's comments regarding the competition here. Speaking of Olynyk, I've seen his name get tossed around in a lot of...

The Waste Management Open is drunk - and that's just fine

"You don't have to be crazy to live here, but it helps." -- Dr. Seuss SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- For 51 weeks out of the year, life as a PGA Tour professional is simple enough. They arrive in a city on Monday or Tuesday, get in a couple of practice rounds, and then attempt to play golf better than 130 other guys from Thursday through Sunday. Sometimes they take a week off. Sometimes they take two. But for the most part, the calendar of a professional golfer is filled with tournaments all across the country - different in name, but all the same in nature. Except one. *** The Stadium Course at TPC...

2016 Purdue Basketball Recruiting: Desmond Bane to Visit vs. MSU

A promising, but relatively unknown, shooting guard from Richmond is visiting tonight. There has not been a lot of new when it comes to basketball recruiting of late. Carsen Edwards is tearing it up in Texas and is now No. 88 on the ESPN 100, but other than that there is very little news. First, let's look at the scholarship grid: Player ('15-'16) ('16-'17) ('17-'18) ('18-'19) ('19-'20) Rapheal Davis Senior A.J. The nation's two best teams won't actually wrestle in a dual meet this year. But what if they did? Thanks to the cruel and unknowable machinations of the Delanybot 9000, this year wrestling fans have been denied a chance to see the signature dual of the Big Ten season: Iowa versus Penn State.  It's become the biggest dual in the Big Ten (and the nation) since Cael Sanderson decamped from Ames to State College, attracted top-notch talent in bushels, and won four of the last five national championships.  In fact, Iowa and Penn State have combined to win seven of the last eight national...

Georgia Tech Football: Freshman Review - DT Kyle Cerge-Henderson

Today, we look at a future force in the middle of Georgia Tech's defensive line. As a Recruit Cerge-Henderson was one of three recruits from last year's class to enroll early (alongside Will Bryan and Harland Howell). He was rated by Rivals and the 247Sports Composite as a three-star recruit (5.5 and 0.8414, respectively). Among the offers which Cerge-Henderson received were Boston College, Mississippi State, Pitt, Virginia and West Virginia. As Joey talked about in the "Meet the Recruits" piece for Cerge-Henderson, he is the son of former Tech linebacker Kevin Henderson, who happened to...

Arizona basketball roundtable: On Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Ryan Anderson, and hosting UCLA and USC

What's going to go down at McKale Center this Valentine's weekend? After a nice road sweep, the Arizona Wildcats return home to try and avenge a winless road trip from earlier this year when the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans come to Tucson. Ryan Anderson had his worst game of the year against the Trojans, but is also coming off a Pac-12 Player of the Week performance in Washington. So something has to give. We talk about that, and one of the more confusing players on the team in this week's roundtable! Jason Bartel: If you were explaining Parker Jackson-Cartwright to someone who had never...

Just how hard is BYU's 2016 football schedule?

Let's take a closer look at the math One of the potential reasons for skepticism about the 2016 BYU football team could be their schedule. After all, it's full of multiple Power Five programs, mid-majors that made bowl games, and in terms of pure Q-score, it's probably the toughest schedule BYU has ever played. We've already written about how BYU is behind the eight-ball a little bit on the recruiting front when it comes to its 2016 foes. But that only tells us part of the picture. After all, kids transfer, some don't pan out, some low three-stars become major contributors, etc. Are there...
