Third Quarter Open Thread: Could Be Worse. Could Be Better.

Third Quarter Open Thread: Could Be Worse. Could Be Better.

Georgia, despite its best effort's, finds itself state to a 20-7 lead over the Missouri Tigers headed into the second half. Offensively, Georgia is a mess. No offensive touchdowns despite four trips inside the Missouri 35. Jake Fromm is 6 of 14 passing with some reads that he’ll want badly to have back once he sees the film. The third down play calling has been nonsensical. The execution has been perhaps even worse. However the Bulldog defense has bailed them out by creating three turnovers, and the punt return unit added a crucial blocked punt and score by Eric Stokes to make this one...

Georgia Football: I’ll take Fromm over Lock in any shootout

When Georgia Football takes on Missouri today it will be Jake Fromm not media darling Drew Lock who is the best QB on the field. Some might say that this is my fandom kicking in but I’ve never been the biggest fan of Drew Lock. The Missouri Senior has thrown the ball all over the field […] Georgia Football: I’ll take Fromm over Lock in any shootout - Dawn of the Dawg - Dawn of the Dawg - A Georgia Bulldogs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Games To Watch: Week 4

Games To Watch: Week 4

Outside of the Big Ten, here are this week’s biggest games. No. 2 Georgia @ Mizzou, 11:00 AM, ESPN Photo by Scott Cunningham/ Under head coach Kirby Smart, the Georgia Bulldogs hauled in the nation’s top recruiting class and, aside from maybe Clemson’s duo of Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence or Alabama’s duo of Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa, no team in the country is as loaded at the quarterback position as Georgia is with Jake Fromm and Justin Fields. Georgia clobbered Missouri last season, 53-28, but because Mizzou is coming off of a win at Purdue and have...

Dawgs blow by Blue Raiders

Dawgs blow by Blue Raiders

Fromm led in the TD department while Elijah Holyfield led the way in rushing. The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs breezed through for another win and this time, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders were the victim. Quarterback Jake Fromm and running back Elijah Holyfield set up the ‘Dawgs up for success in the first half. Fromm went 10 for 12 in passing for 124 yards with three touchdowns. Holyfield rushed for 100 yards on eight carries. They did this only in the first half! Other key players that in the offense were back up quarterback Justin Fields came in to completed six out of eight passes for...

Kirby Smart not pleased with “silly, stupid penalties”, but loves his defense’s fire

Kirby Smart not pleased with “silly, stupid penalties”, but loves his defense’s fire

Kirby Smart greeted the media this afternoon following the Bulldogs’ convincing win over Middle Tennessee State, addressing some burning issues from today’s game, including: • The “silly, stupid penalties” that hamstrung the Bulldogs offensively on occasion. • The extent to which each of the sacks on Jake Fromm were actually on the sophomore QB. • Why he’s unconcerned about the lack of sacks by Georgia’s defense on the day. • Why teammates were just as happy about Elijah Holyfield’s big day as fans were. • The “love” between Brenton Cox and D’Andre Walker. You...

Georgia 49, Middle Tennessee 7: ‘Dawgs not perfect, but far too close for the Raiders

Georgia 49, Middle Tennessee 7: ‘Dawgs not perfect, but far too close for the Raiders

Well, that’s about what you would have expected. Georgia looked a little rusty early before pulling away for a 42-7 halftime lead en tour to a 49-7 win over MTSU. Elijah Holyfield had a career day, churning out 100 yards on 8 carries, including one 66 yard jaunt through a huge hole (though he never found the end zone). Jake Fromm turned in another Frommian performance, completing 10 of 12 passes for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns. Neither saw action in the second half of a game in which neither was needed. Tyler Simmons and Justin Fields both did what no UGA tailback did: rush for a...

Third Quarter Open Comment Thread: Time to Fry Some Chicken.

Third Quarter Open Comment Thread: Time to Fry Some Chicken.

Georgia is staked to a 20-10 lead and gets the ball to start this third quarter. A few informative stats from the first half: Jake Fromm is 9 of 12 passing for 79 yards, but honestly has gotten away with a couple of questionable balls. Jake Bentley didn’t get away with that early pass returned for a touchdown, but settled down and is 18 of 31 for 146 yards passing. Bentley however has also gotten away with some throws the UGA defense will hear about not making him pay for in film study. The teams each have 13 first downs and South Carolina holds a slim 191-183 advantage in offensive...

Georgia Football: Will Justin Fields play against South Carolina?

Tomorrow Georgia football begins SEC play against the South Carolina Gamecocks at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. The Dawgs defeated Austin Peay 45-0 in week one. Jake Fromm will start for Georgia football. Jake Bentley will start for South Carolina. That’s common knowledge. What may be an unknown factor that could end up changing the offensive […] Georgia Football: Will Justin Fields play against South Carolina? - Dawn of the Dawg - Dawn of the Dawg - A Georgia Bulldogs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Games To Watch: Week 2

Games To Watch: Week 2

Week two is upon us. Outside of the Big Ten, there are three solid games to catch this weekend. Georgia @ South Carolina, 2:30 PM, CBS Georgia came into 2018 with high expectations. Who could blame anyone from pitching the Bulldogs as potential champions? With a bevy of returning talent and Jake Fromm under center, Georgia should be heads and shoulders above the rest of the SEC East. However, its first true road test comes this weekend against South Carolina. If Georgia is the cream of the crop, the Gamecocks are gaining quick. Junior quarterback Jake Bentley leads a strong South Carolina...

MVDs: Most Valuable ‘Dawgs

MVDs: Most Valuable ‘Dawgs

All ‘Dawgs are created equal. But every Saturday a handful distinguish themselves in ways that deserve special recognition. They are the MVDs: most valuable ‘Dawgs. Offense: The offensive line. Sure, Jake Fromm had a pleasantly efficient afternoon. D’Andre Swift had a nice day. Mecole Hardman and Demetrius Robertson each got a start on their 2018 highlight video. But the common denominator for each was the guys up front. Defense: Natrez Patrick. Again, when the defense pitches a shut out and gives up only 61 yards passing there are plenty of attaboys to go around. But Patrick’s...

Second Half Open Thread: So far, so explosive.

Second Half Open Thread: So far, so explosive.

The Bulldog offense has a ton of weapons, and it’s using every last one of them. Things have gone according to plan thus far for the Georgia Bulldogs, who lead the Austin Peay Governors 38-0 at the half. A few items of note: Tyson Campbell earned the start at corner and has a couple of solid stops already. Jake Fromm looks just as comfortable as you'd expect in the pocket, completing 12 of 16 passes for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you're the one person in the whole of Bulldog Nation who didn't expect to see Justin Fields early, well, you were wrong. The freshman is 2 of 2 passing for...

How to watch Austin Peay vs. Georgia: Time, TV channel, streaming

This should be a rout for the Bulldogs. The Georgia Bulldogs take the field for the first time since their overtime loss to Alabama in the 2018 College Football Playoff Championship Game. The Bulldogs will host the Austin Peay Governors. There’s really not much to say. Jake Fromm is the man now, as Jacob Eason is gone. How will Fromm follow up a strong freshman campaign? We’ll see! Roquan Smith is also gone, but the defense will still be alright. HOW TO WATCH AUSTIN PEAY VS.
