Former Michigan State All-American Jerel Worthy embracing fresh start with Lions' defensive line

The defensive tackle has had a humbling four years, going from All-American at Michigan State in in 2011, to a second-round pick in 2012, to practice squad in 2014, to cut by the Chiefs four days ago. But then he was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions. He practiced with his new club for the first time Wednesday night. And just like that, he was back to where his career first took off.

Detroit Lions Sign Former Michigan State Defensive Tackle Jerel Worthy Off Waivers

Former Michigan State defensive tackle Jerel Worthy was taken off waivers by the Detroit Lions on Tuesday. Jerel Worthy has found himself a new home in the NFL. Worthy, the former Michigan State defensive tackle, who was a consensus All-American at the end of his junior year, was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions, a day after he was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs. The former second round selection in the 2012 draft has racked up 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble in three seasons as a professional.
