2015 NBA Summer League: Stanley Johnson scores 24 points, and leads Pistons to a win in day two of the Orlando Summer League

Make that two days in a row where an Arizona Wildcat has dominated the Orlando Summer League After Aaron Gordon stole the show in day one of the Orlando Summer League, Stanley Johnson followed it up with a brilliant performance of his own. In just over 30 minutes, Stanley scored 24 points on 10-14 shooting (!!!), grabbed 9 rebounds, and had two steals. He got the start after coming off the bench on Saturday, and he obviously took advantage of it. He was all over the place. Grabbing rebounds, handling the ball in transition, making plays on defense, and of course, putting the ball in the...

Arizona's supportive coaching staff creates recruiting success

Recruits are raving about Arizona's coaching staff, leading to success in the recruitment process Lately, I've had the opportunity to talk to a lot of 2016 recruits. The questions are simple: what do you like about the program? What have the coaches told you? What's the difference between Arizona and other schools on your list? When they're with the coaches they feel comfortable and wanted. This makes sense...

2015 NBA Summer League: Former Wildcats shine in the first day of the Orlando Summer League

Day one went well for most of the former Wildcats The first day of the Orlando Summer League was a success for former Wildcats - well for the most part. Aaron Gordon was definitely the shining star of the day after he scored 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in Orlando (Blue)'s victory over the Clippers. His jumpshot looked really smooth, as he went 2-5 from behind the arc. He also made a stepback, and a few other jumpers off the dribble, which is not something we've really seen from him before. He did do things that are what you'd normally expect from him though, like finishing off an...

FIBA U19 World Championships: USA advances to final vs. Croatia

Playing for the gold medal on Sunday Team USA will have a chance to defend its FIBA U19 gold medal after taking down host country Greece in the semifinals on Saturday by a score of 82-76. It was by far the closest game Sean Miller and the U.S. squad have played to this point in the tournament, but they move on to face Croatia on Sunday. The Americans have already beaten Croatia 103-81 earlier in the tournament. Incoming Arizona freshman Allonzo Trier did not look particularly sharp in this one, a day after sitting out the Italy game. Trier didn't look great on defense, and was even called...

FIBA U19 World Championships: USA advances to semifinal with 86-65 win over Italy

No Allonzo Trier in this game though The USA U-19 team advanced to the semifinal thanks to a dominating first half against Italy, eventually winning 86-65. Sean Miller's Americans only outscored Italy by three in the second half, and the entire team seemed frustrated at the end of the game, resulting in a technical called on Miller with just over two minutes left, and also a timeout in the final 30 seconds. The announcers eluded to some shaky calls going against USA throughout the day. Allonzo Trier did not play in the game because of an ankle injury suffered in the previous...
