Arizona vs. UTEP: Time, TV and previewing the Miners with Miner Rush

Learn all the things you need to know about the UTEP Miners from a UTEP expert The Arizona Wildcats have their first true road game Friday night when they travel to El Paso to take on the UTEP Miners. Time 9 PM MST TV Fox Sports 1 To find out about the UTEP team, we talked with Alex Nicolas from Miner Rush to get his thoughts on how the Miners match up with Arizona. You can find my Q&A with him about Arizona here. 1. Sean Miller's had a lot of praise this week for Vince Hunter, who's averaging a double-double this year. When's the last time UTEP had a player as talented as him, and what...

Arizona football: Wildcats offensive lineman Jacob Alsadek named USA Today Freshman All-American

A nice honor for Arizona's lone freshman lineman Yes, the focus of the postseason awards for the Arizona Wildcats has been squarely focused on Scooby Wright III, who was named a unanimous All-American, the first time an Arizona player has done that since Chris McAlister in 1998. But also of note is that Arizona's lone freshman offensive lineman Jacob Alsadek was named a USA Today Freshman All-American. Alsadek started ten games for the Wildcats this season at right guard. Surrounded by seniors Steven Gurrola and Fabbians Ebbele, the offensive line led the way for freshman running back...

Arizona football: Q&A with Wildcats Quarterbacks coach Rod Smith

Talking all things Arizona QBs with the QB guru himself With the Arizona Wildcats in the middle of their Fiesta Bowl practice schedule, it seemed like a good time to check in on how all the quarterbacks are doing with the guy who sees them every day, QB coach Rod Smith. I sat down with coach to go over all things Arizona QBs. Here's what he had to say about the guys: How much did Anu Solomon's injury actually effect him over the last month or so of the season? Smith: Well, we don't want to make excuses, but there was obviously that he didn't play all the games. He didn't finish the games,...

A busy first day of the JuCo signing period for Arizona The Junior College signing period has begun, and the Arizona Wildcats have officially inked three players from the JuCo ranks. All three of these guys will have two seasons of eligibility remaining when they get on campus. Defensive lineman Anthony Fotu from San Leandro, CA is the highest-rated of the three, sitting in the top-25 of Scout's JUCO player rankings. Safety Paul Magloire played for Arizona Western last season, where the team went 11-1. Magloire led the team with 101 tackles. He also had two interceptions and three (!)...

Arizona vs Oakland Final Score: Wildcats cruise vs Oakland

Arizona eclipsed the century mark on Tuesday night in a throttling of Oakland in Tucson. At 11-0 the Wildcats keep their unbeaten record intact as it approaches the beginning of conference play in just a few games. Fresh off perhaps their best game of the season Saturday in a dismantling of Michigan, the Wildcats took the floor at the McKale Center again on Tuesday night vs Oakland and picked up right where they left off. Arizona sprinted out to an 18-2 lead after a T.J McConnell jumper and led by as much as 25 in the first half before heading to the locker rooms up 20 at intermission. It...

Arizona football: Jerrard Randall waiting for his opportunity to prove himself

LSU transfer Jerrard Randall got some run at quarterback in the Pac-12 Championship Game for Arizona, where he got to show off some of his skills "When I looked at the scoreboard, I was like 'Okay, celebrating...it's too late for that now." That's kind of the way that Arizona Wildcats third-string quarterback Jerrard Randall's entire season has gone, not just when he ran the ball into the endzone on the last play of the Pac-12 Championship Game for his first-career collegiate score. When Anu Solomon was unable to play in the second half of that game because of an ankle injury, Rich...

College basketball rankings: Arizona stays in the third spot in AP Poll

No change for the Wildcats in the polls after dominating some Wolverines A couple packs of Wolverines came into McKale Center last weekend, and the Arizona Wildcats rolled both of them. Those two wins didn't do anything for the Wildcats in the polls though. Even after losing Alex Poythress to a torn ACL, Kentucky remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. Two other Pac-12 teams are ranked in Utah and Washington. And past Arizona opponents Gonzaga and San Diego State are still in there as well. Here's a look at how the entire AP Top 25 shakes out this week. AP Top...

Arizona's domination of Michigan more than just a basketball game in Tucson

This game was so much more than what happened on the court Saturday afternoon It doesn't take a genius to figure out that whenever Arizona and Michigan meet in any sport from now on, there will be some sort of undercurrent that has to do with Rich Rodriguez. Well that undercurrent swept the Wolverines out of Tucson along the water-soaked roads Saturday afternoon after they were beaten to a bloody pulp by the Arizona basketball team by the tune of an 80-53 final score. This game was so much more than a basketball game for Tucson sports fans. It started about ten minutes before tip, when...

Michigan vs. Arizona time, TV: How the Wildcats avoid the upset

Michigan has lost to NJIT and Eastern Michigan heading into the game against the Wildcats, but that doesn't mean it'll be an easy time for Sean Miller's team. Sean Miller has not only recruited as well as anyone not named John Calipari in recent years. He's recruited with balance. Few programs have been able to sell themselves as Point Guard U and Point Forward U quite as well as the Arizona Wildcats. With Sidiki Johnson, Kaleb Tarczewski and now Dusan Ristic, Miller has even gone out of his way literally -- to New York, New England and overseas -- to recruit true big men. That brings us to...

The Arizona Wildcats finished No. 10 in the nation and will face the champions of the Mountain West Conference in the VIZIO Fiesta Bowl December 31st at 4 PM Eastern. The Arizona Wildcats are going bowling 100-sum miles up the road. Arizona will face No. 20 Boise State in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Eve in Glendale, Ariz. Arizona looked like a lock for the Fiesta Bowl heading into the Pac-12 Championship game, but a 51-13 loss to the Oregon Ducks put a cloud over whether how far the Wildcats would fall in the national perspective. It turns out the Wildcats fell to No. 11 in the...

Arizona football: Scooby Wright adds another trophy with Bednarik Award victory
