Arizona basketball recruiting: Ivan Rabb includes Wildcats in list

Ivan Rabb, a top-5 prospect, cut his list of college choices to five on Friday, and Arizona is still in the running. The Arizona basketball team is expected to add one more player to a four-man 2015 recruiting class, and the biggest prospect left on the board, Ivan Rabb, has kept them in the running. Rabb listed the Wildcats on Friday has he cut his down list to five potential college destinations, according to ESPN. Breaking News: Ivan Rabb tells http://t.co/lJe7Dgw25o Arizona California, Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA are officially his final 5 schools. — Paul Biancardi (@PaulBiancardi)...

Arizona football injury report: Nick Wilson, Cayman Bundage listed as questionable for the Wildcats

Arizona football injury report: Nick Wilson, Cayman Bundage listed as questionable for the Wildcats

Several names appear on this week's injury report for Arizona heading into Pullman The official Arizona Wildcats injury report is out, and there are several names on it. Here's a quick look at how everyone is officially listed: PROBABLE: Terris Jones-Grigsby (concussion), Jonathan McKnight (concussion), Parker Zellers (foot) QUESTIONABLE: Nick Wilson (ankle), Cayman Bundage (knee) OUT: DeAndre' Miller (shoulder) So far in 2014, no player listed as questionable has played that week, which does not bode well for Wilson and Bundage, who both missed the USC game. On the Rich Rodriguez Radio...

Arizona vs. WSU: Rich Rodriguez and players give thoughts on the Cougars

Will Washington State throw the ball a lot? Probably. But they didn't last year. Everyone who has heard of the idea of Washington State playing football this year knows that the Cougars like to put the pigskin up in the air a little bit. Will we see more of that as the Arizona Wildcats make their first trip to Pullman since 2010? Probably. But don't forget last year, where the Cougs came in to Tucson and ran the ball 27 times. Rich Rodriguez and a few of the players give their thoughts on that very conundrum and more: Rich Rodriguez On Washington State's offense Everybody talks about their...

Arizona basketball No. 1 in Pac-12 preseason media rankings

The Wildcats earned 31 of 32 first-place votes. The Pac-12 preseason media poll picked Sean Miller's Arizona basketball team to win the conference in 2014-15, and the Wildcats also earned all but one of the 32 first-place votes. UCLA heads into the season with a single first-place vote, though the Bruins are only picked to finish fourth. The Utah Utes, who have played Arizona well since joining the Pac-12, are picked just ahead of Colorado with 317 votes to the Buffs' 316. UCLA, Stanford and Washington round out the top half of the conference. The back end of the Pac-12 has a lot of...

Rich Rodriguez to Florida fears begin at Arizona

Rich Rodriguez to Florida fears begin at Arizona

Rich Rodriguez and Greg Byrne are doing good jobs -- and that means there's a fear they might leave. One mention and it's speculation. Two and it gets a little uncomfortable if you're an Arizona fan. Rich Rodriguez hasn't taken long to build a winning team in the desert, and if the Wildcats find themselves challenging in or winning the Pac-12 South in four weeks, rumors could begin building. The Florida Gators are floundering, and after two less-than-stellar coaching tenures by Ron Zook and current coach Will Muschamp, it seems that a new coach could be on the horizon. Both Yahoo!'s Pat...

Arizona football: Patrick Glover and Clive Georges leave program

Two players have left Arizona this week. The Arizona Wildcats have lost two players from the program this week as both Clive Georges and Patrick Glover decided to leave. Georges has not played this year after suffering a significant leg injury on the first day of fall camp in August. It was unlikely Georges would have seen the field very much on offense this season anyway, as wide receiver is not exactly a position of need right now. A little more surprising is the departure of Patrick Glover. A junior college transfer from Scottsdale Community College, Glover seemed poised to make some...

Arizona football: Jared Baker shows Wildcats have depth at running back

Arizona football: Jared Baker shows Wildcats have depth at running back

Arizona's going to need some depth at running back with six-straight games coming up. When Terris Jones-Grigsby went down after a vicious hit in the USC game, there were questions about who would be the next man up at running back for the Arizona Wildcats. Nick Wilson wasn't dressed, and we hadn't really seen any of the other backs since Week One. On the ensuing drive, Jared Baker found himself lined up in the slot at first, and then started lining up in the backfield. He went on to score three times for the Wildcats in the second half. "He was the second back behind Terris Jones-Grigsby,"...

College football rankings: Arizona inches up Coaches poll, passed by ASU

College football rankings: Arizona inches up Coaches poll, passed by ASU

Arizona slid two spots up the coaches poll from last week. The Arizona Wildcats moved up two spots during the bye week into the 15th spot in the Amway Coaches Poll, but they also shifted about in the Pac-12 hierarchy. Arizona State's win against previously-ranked Stanford pushed the Cardinal out of the rankings for the first time since 2009 and leapfrogged the Sun Devils to No. 14 in the rankings. Oregon sits at No. 7 and with ASU remains the other Pac-12 team ahead of Arizona in the national standings. The AP Poll should be released in a few hours. Check back here for more, and take a look...

Arizona Red-Blue scrimmage: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Stanley Johnson lead the way

The Red team took home the victory behind Stanley Johnson's 17 points. Two 12-minute halves gave way to the Red team's 53-46 win against the Blue team in Arizona's season tipoff scrimmage, but it's what happened more than the result that we'll talk about. But that comes with a warning: Remember, Sidiki Johnson once upon a time put together a stellar Red-Blue scrimmage. Matchup of the day Sean Miller said Kaleb Tarczewski may have become the Wildcats' best player this offseason. He and T.J. McConnell might be the two most important, though Stanley Johnson and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson have the...

Arizona basketball Red-Blue game: Time, TV and what to watch

Arizona basketball tips the 2014-15 season with a No. 2 ranking in the coaches poll. The Arizona Wildcats will fill a renovated McKale Center with a sold out crowd and big expectations for the annual Red-Blue scrimmage. Drake probably won't make an appearance, but on to the more important things. Time Live: 3 p.m. MST TV 7:30 p.m. MST on Pac-12 Networks (tape delay) What to watch Brandon Ashley's big return: Putting your money on who will receive the biggest ovation should be pretty easy. Ashley is apparently healthy and ready to go. The team has the same expectations as last year but...

Arizona football: Q&A with Wildcats punter and holder Drew Riggleman

I asked Drew Riggleman questions about special teams, and he answered them. What is the process of holding on a field goal? Drew Riggleman: So first, I count to make sure we have everybody on the line. Then I'll look down at my spot, look back at Casey (Skowron). When he gives me the nod, I'll look down and then signal for the snap. What did you see on Skowron's missed field goal at the end of the USC game? (Casey)'s form was a little bit off. Nothing really big. How do you evaluate Arizona's special teams as a whole so far this season? I think we're doing a lot better than we were...

Arizona football: David Richards still learning to be unselfish; going about his business quietly

David Richards is quiet off the field, but is starting to make more noise on the field Even in a loss to USC, the Arizona Wildcats put up some truly amazing stats in the passing game. One of those stats was that four different guys had seven catches each. Now, you would expect to see Cayleb Jones and Austin Hill as two of those guys. DaVonte' Neal had what could be a breakout game in what he says was his first game at full-health this year. The fourth guy though? David Richards. Richards, a redshirt junior, has sort of been replaced as the guy with size by Cayleb Jones, but that...

College basketball rankings: Arizona a preseason No. 2 behind Kentucky

College basketball rankings: Arizona a preseason No. 2 behind Kentucky

The Arizona basketball team is No. 2 behind Kentucky. Sean Miller's Arizona Wildcats will begin the 2014-15 season ranked No. 2 in the country by his fellow coaches, unsurprisingly behind a two-deep Kentucky Wildcats team. Arizona earned three first-place votes and 746 total points, while UK gathered 24 first-place votes and 785 points. Duke, Wisconsin and Kansas round out the top-5 schools. As for top-25 schools on the Wildcats' schedule next year, there's not much to work with. San Diego State, ranked 17th, could meet UA for another showdown, this time in the Maui Invitational....

Arizona football: Former UA back Nic Grigsby leaves CFL's Winnipeg Bombers

Wonder what happened to former UA running back Nic Grigsby? Some news out of the CFL has an answer. All the success this season from senior Arizona running back Terris Jones-Grigsby probably made you wonder: Where in the heck is his half brother, former starting UA back Nic Grigsby? Wednesday, we found out. It seems Grigsby was doing well considering all things. He was a member of the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Bombers -- was being the key word there. Grigsby's name popped up on my Twitter feed because he was surprisingly released from the 6-9 team despite still leading the CFL in...

Arizona football: Anu Solomon added to Maxwell watch list, Scooby Wright added to Bednarik

The two Arizona football players are on two award watch lists for their respective positions. Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon has joined receiver Austin Hill on the Maxwell Award watch list for college football's best offensive player, while linebacker Scooby Wright has been added midseason to the Bednarik Award watch list given to the best defensive player. Solomon so far has accumulated 2,136 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has completed 62.6 percent of his passes also has added 160 yards on the ground. Wright perhaps has a more legitimate case to be in the...
