  • Winthrop hires Clemson assistant as baseball coach The State Winthrop has hired Clemson assistant Tom Riginos as its head baseball coach.The school announced the hiring Friday. Riginos replaces Joe Hudak, who was let go after 19 seasons with the Eagles.Riginos spent the past eight seasons working for the Tigers and coach Jack Leggett. Riginos served as associate head coach and the program's recruiting coordinator.   • Drug tests’ results show clean athletes The State Clemson athletics revealed a nearly spotless drug test record Thursday, along with seven secondary NCAA violations.From July 1, 2009, to June 30, there were 722 drug tests conducted on Clemson student-athletes with no positive results for steroids, marijuana, alcohol or cocaine, according to a university memo.Three student athletes tested positive for a banned substance, which the report says were amphetamines related to prescription drugs to treat illness.
