The Wildcats won six games at Municipal Auditorium — winning the Big Seven Conference Holiday Tournament and the NCAA regional title. The Wildcats claimed a spot in the NCAA championship game by defeating Oklahoma State 68-44 at Municipal. Ernie Barrett led the Jack Gardner coached squad to the game’s biggest stage before ultimately losing to Kentucky in Minneapolis.
