Kansas City Star — Thursday night, we saw the Kansas State team that climbed to No. 5 in the polls, earned Frank Martin a new contract and was everybody’s sexy pick to reach the Final Four. Thursday night, K-State’s two most explosive and unpredictable players — point guard Denis Clemente and sixth man Jamar Samuels — torched the Oklahoma State Cowboys with a level of efficiency and controlled intensity we hadn’t seen since early January, when the duo walloped Texas A&M.

Kansas City Star — In front of a large contingent of purple-clad supporters, the ninth-ranked Wildcats looked like their old selves and pounded the Cowboys 83-64 in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament. With the win they will face the winner of Baylor and Texas in the semifinal round on Friday.

Kansas City Star — It looks like Kansas State will be playing in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals tomorrow afternoon. Behind 21 points and nine rebounds from sophomore forward Jamar Samuels, the Wildcats have built a 51-26 halftime lead on Oklahoma State at the Sprint Center.

Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma, will play K-State next

Kansas City Star — Behind a game-high 24 points from Keiton Page, the Oklahoma State Cowboys downed the rival Oklahoma Sooners 81-67 in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. With the win, Oklahoma State advances to play No. 9 Kansas State at 6 p.m. Thursday.

K-State's top hoops moments in KC

Kansas City Star — <strong>1. Nifty Fifty</strong> Kansas City was exceptionally good to Kansas State during the 1950-51 season. The Wildcats won six games at Municipal Auditorium &mdash; winning the Big Seven Conference Holiday Tournament and the NCAA regional title. The Wildcats claimed a spot in the NCAA championship game by defeating Oklahoma State 68-44 at Municipal. Ernie Barrett led the Jack Gardner coached squad to the game&rsquo;s biggest stage before ultimately losing to Kentucky in Minneapolis.
