Rice cancels volleyball conference season opener due to stomach bug

The Rice volleyball team cancelled its first match of its Conference-USA season Tuesday  due to a stomach illness. The Owls (10-4) were set to face UT-San Antonio (9-5) at 6 p.m. Eleven volleyball players have symptoms of or have come down with the virus. No other Rice athletic squads seem to have been affected by the illness.
