Boeheim’s Army’s new uniforms, plus ‘Elam Ending’ for entire TBT

Boeheim’s Army’s new uniforms, plus ‘Elam Ending’ for entire TBT

Another instant classic for the alumni squad for this summer’s tournament. When we’re all watching Boeheim’s Army compete in this summer’s edition of The Basketball Tournament, the Syracuse Orange alumni team will once again be wearing some fantastic uniforms. Uni Watch’s Paul Lukas had the first look for this year’s jerseys, sponsored by Puma, and they look better than Syracuse’s current set, to be honest... FIRST LOOK: Jerseys for four teams in The Basketball Tournament, which tips off later this month. Uniforms are made by Puma, part of the company's re-entry into the...

Momentum starts to pick up for Syracuse on the recruiting front. After going awhile without a commit for the class of 2019, the Syracuse Orange football program has now added two players within the last four days. SU may not have a 2019 QB, making Chance Amie even more important

SU may not have a 2019 QB, making Chance Amie even more important

A thin 2019 quarterback class makes Amie’s flip even more critical. A little less than a year ago, the Syracuse Orange lost a major recruiting battle for a quarterback in the class of 2018. Chance Amie, a dual-threat out of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Tex., chose to stay close to home, snubbing the Orange for Houston. But a chain of events would change Amie’s path, securing Syracuse football’s future under center. Less than two weeks before the early enrollee signing period, Houston’s offensive coordinator left for a job at Florida, leading Amie to make a previously...

High School: Loyola 2017 stats: Served as SU’s backup center and appeared in 12 games, largely on special teams. Played for significant time against both CCSU and Central Michigan last year. 2018 expectations: Listed as the team’s backup center once again on the pre-spring Syracuse Orange depth chart. Isn’t challenging for a starting role, but is a critical reserve and member of the special teams...

Rex Culpepper cancer-free, working out with SU football (LINKS)

Rex met with media on Friday to update everyone on his health, and talk about his successful battle with cancer. Earlier this month, we learned that Syracuse Orange quarterback Rex Culpepper was officially cancer-free after finishing up chemotherapy but the redshirt sophomore made a press appearance on campus to discuss his health a bit more on Friday. In great news, he’s “100-percent cured” in that he won’t need annual follow-ups, and is already cleared to participate with the team — though he’s still working his strength back up. He says he’ll be ready to jump in fully by...

The big man gets even bigger as he hopes to compete for spot on the two-deep. Name: Andrejas Duerig Position: Offensive line Year: (Redshirt) Junior Height: 6’3” Weight: 323 Hometown: Lowell, Ind. High School: Mount Carmel 2017 stats: Duerig was all over special teams last year, playing in 12 games across the field goal/PAT unit, the punt team and kickoff team. 2018 expectations: Could be a lot more of the same — which is still pretty critical to the Syracuse Orange continuing to improve on the special teams front. SU’s starting offensive linemen are pretty set already and most of...
TNIAAP: Jim Boeheim likes Italian food (plus MAC football preview)

TNIAAP: Jim Boeheim likes Italian food (plus MAC football preview)

It was a slow week, so there’s Boeheim food takes, and MAC football. Not much happened in the world of the Syracuse Orange this week, so we ended up talking about Jim Boeheim’s food preferences for far longer than we’d imagined we would. There’s other stuff too, though, don’t worry. Also, thanks as always, to our producer Louis for making this listenable. Some of the larger topics this week: The entire MAC is just sort of sitting in neutral How many non-Italian restaurants has Jim Boeheim ordered chicken parm at? A longer-than-intended discussion of Jon Rothstein National...

High School: Waukesha West High School 2017 stats: Heckel stepped in and got 12 starts at the left guard spot for the injured Aaron Roberts. The freshman was an all around solid contributor to both the run and pass game for the Syracuse Orange. 2018 expectations: With Roberts back, there are basically two options for Sam, now that both Roberts and Evan Adams are healthy. If Aaron Servais wins the tackle spot...

Howard Washington’s recovery progress encouraging for SU (LINKS)

Good to see his knee rehabbing well. While Howard Washington wasn’t a key player for the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team last year, the depth he was able to provide was at least helpful. When he was lost for the season with a knee injury, it left SU with just two guards — Tyus Battle and Frank Howard — who both averaged over 39 minutes per game the rest of the way. SU doesn’t have the same depth concerns at guard this year, but Washington’s potential return could still become a factor for the Orange. Syracuse.com provided an update on his rehab status, and it seems like...

Syracuse sure could’ve used new NCAA redshirt rule last year...

The NCAA makes a change for the better, albeit not in time to benefit the Orange’s 2017 season. As you may have heard already the NCAA actually went and made some positive changes this week — maybe even three of them, in fact! It’s a banner day for overwrought bureaucracy. The big things you’ll want to know: Division I teams can’t limit where players are allowed to transfer (though conferences still can choose to). We covered this months back. Football players can now participate in up to four games without burning a redshirt. Pre-determined conference bowl ties based on recent...

He also saw some action in two games at tackle, spending the season second on the depth chart at right tackle behind Jamar McGloster. 2018 expectations: He’s currently on the Syracuse Orange’s spring two-deep as the starting right tackle. He’s a big body that is looking to fill...

Ranking Justyn Knight on the All-Time Syracuse Athletics list

The man who really made #OrangeisthenewFast happen Syracuse Orange fans know that conversation in the TNIAAM Slack room can sometimes lead to longer articles on the site. Over the weekend, a discussion emerged about Justyn Knight’s place on the All-Time Greatest Syracuse Athletes list, specifically is he in the Top 10. It’s always a difficult task to try and rank athletes from different sports and different eras, but here at TNIAAM we never shy away from a challenge so let’s give it a go. Just to set the scene, the below tweet highlights Justyn’s Syracuse accomplishments, so keep...
Get to Know Your Orange Man: #81, WR Cameron Jordan

Get to Know Your Orange Man: #81, WR Cameron Jordan

High School: Half Hollow Hills West 2017 stats: N/A, since he redshirted 2018 projection: Jordan is a big, speedy target who could potentially get some burn on the outside this year. Summer will sort things out a bit more, but don’t be surprised to see him getting reps and catching 10-15 balls. How’d he get here: Cameron said no thanks to schools like Boston College, Temple, Wake...

Some defensive line help coming in from New Jersey. News had been pretty slow on the recruiting front for the Syracuse Orange — that is, until SU received some good news on Wednesday evening. I am so blessed to be an orangemen!! #GOCUSE pic.twitter.com/DSBiuiDrTm— Joe Rondi (@joerondi61) June 14, 2018 Three-star defensive tackle Joe Rondi pledged his commitment to the Orange via Twitter, later telling 247Sports that he loved everything about SU (hey, we’re glad to hear that!). The New Jersey (Wayne) product picked Syracuse over numerous other Northeast offers, including...
