Kelemete looking forward to first start at left tackle

Husky Football Blog | Seattle Times — Of the many subplots in tomorrow's game. one of the more subtle is the first start for Senio Kelemete (pictured right) at one of the most important positions --- left tackle. The junior started last year at guard before making the move to tackle in the spring, and has performed so well in the run-up to the season that UW coach Steve Sarkisian has taken to referring to him as an "all-conference player,'' --- often not even making the qualifier that he has yet to earn those honors. It appeared for a while as if this might not be the optimum beginning for Kelemete when he suffered a high ankle ...

Huskies set to launch "locker10in10'' campaign Saturday

Husky Football Blog | Seattle Times — The Washington Huskies and QB Jake Locker will be in the national spotlight when they play at Brigham Young at 4 p.m. And UW will try to maximize the attention focused on UW by launching its website promoting Locker Saturday at 10:10 a.m. (the timing an obvious play on Locker's jersey number and the year). Pictured to the right is how the front page will appear (though without coming soon). Here's a link. The website features a section called "The Real Jake Locker", which provides an in-depth look at Locker's personality and upbringing in Ferndale. Additionally, school officials have helped...

Husky Football Blog | Seattle Times — Just about time to get to the airport and hop on a plane to Salt Lake City, so onto the links. ... --- For my story for Friday's paper I wrote about Cody Bruns, who finally appears in position to contribute significantly in the rotation at receiver. --- The Salt Lake Tribune says BYU will probably go running-back-by-committee and a story on Steve Sarkisian's return to Provo. --- The Deseret News looks at a matchup of two Washington-bred QBs named Jake and reviews the 2008 game in Seattle. A Deseret News columnist also wonders if two QBs isn't one too many for BYU. And the paper also has a not...

Game 1 West Conference Finals: Seattle (2-0) v. Phoenix (2-0)

Seattle Times — STORM WINS: And another goose egg is gone with Seattle getting its first postseason win against Phoenix in a 82-74 decision before a sell out crowd of 9,686. The Storm lead by as many as 15 but if it weren't for Wright being aggressive in the fourth quarter, drawing fouls and making half of the ensuing FT attempts, one of the Mercury's other stars may have helped them win the game. Taurasi fouled out with 54 seconds remaining and shooting 2 of 15 from the field. Dupree led her new team with 15 points and 11 boards for her second postseason double-double. "Phoenix controlled it a little more th...

ESPN examines the UW-BYU game, and a couple of links

Husky Football Blog | Seattle Times — A couple quick links as kickoff nears. ... --- ESPN.com has a couple of good overviews of the UW-BYU game. First is this video from Andrea Adelson, who says that "quarterbacks will take center stage'' in the game and says that UW has a good chance to break its 12-game road losing streak. She notes that BYU has struggled in the past with athletic QBs who can run, notably Florida State's Christian Ponder (and you figure that comparisons of how Locker does against BYU and how Ponder did a year ago in FSU's 54-28 win could loom large in the Heisman race). No prediction is made, however. --- Also...
