Bob Huggins Was Right: Stop Playing Marshall

Ending the series is the right thing to do for both schools. By now every WVU and Marshall fan is aware of Bob Huggins comments earlier this week regarding the WVU-Marshall series. If you did not hear the comments then you can read a great synopsis of the comments from the Smoking Musket's Abpriddy here. Despite all the noise surrounding the comments Huggins clearly articulated several valid points for why WVU should be out of the charity business when it comes to playing Marshall. The matchup is a handout to Marshall University and its supporters who come with open hands each year...

Playing Devil's Advocate: Why Bob Huggins Is Wrong & The Marshall Series Should Continue

Marshall basketball coach Dan D’Antoni took a shot across the bow at West Virginia’s program in the immediate aftermath of Sunday’s Capital Classic. But in the process, he gave his counterpart, WVU’s Bob Huggins, ammunition for an argument he has long wanted to make. In case there was any lingering doubt how Huggins feels about the Mountaineers’ annual matchup with Marshall, that was put to rest during his weekly radio show on Monday night. Huggins opened the program with a lengthy rant about the Capital Classic, a response to D’Antoni’s comments that the series should be...

WVU Basketball Coach Bob Huggins Blasts Dan D'Antoni & Marshall Basketball

A clearly irritated Bob Huggins opened up both barrels on the Marshall University basketball program, coach and the series between the two schools. West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins has never shown much affinity for the annual Capital City Classic against Marshall University in Charleston, but it's always something he's seemed willing to bear without much complaint. There's the wry comment sprinkled in here and there that let's you know he feels the game is beneath him and his program, but he's always accepted it as a necessary evil. Not anymore. Most likely in response to...

WVU Men's Basketball: Mountaineers Still Ranked #22 By AP, Move Up One In Coaches Poll

With only one game played since the last poll, WVU is stagnant in the AP and moves up one according to the Coaches. Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings: Everyone Keeps Winning

Last week's power rankings saw lots of changes, but things stay the same this week as every team avoided defeat. The theme last week in the Big 12? Just keep winnin'. No conference team suffered a loss last week. Granted, no one outside of Kansas really played anyone, but it's easy to stub your toe in early-season nonconference play. If you're going by top-to-bottom depth, there is no doubt the Big 12 is the best conference in the nation right now. Take a look at where they stand compared to the other Power Five (granted, that title means way, way less in basketball)...

West Virginia Mounts Comeback, Holds On Against Marshall 69-66

It was the same old, same old in Charleston for the annual tilt with Marshall. A last second three point attempt clangs off the rim and WVU holds off a pesky Marshall team 69-66 in the Charleston Civic Center Arena on Sunday night. It was a typical WVU/Marshall game in the CCC with WVU shooting badly and Marshall playing above their heads. Marshall came into the game shooting 40% for the season and shot 50% for the game. Not that WVU has been shooting the lights out lately, but they continued their shooting struggles (especially in Charleston) by only shooting 38.6% for the night. A run in...
