WVU Outlasts K-State 65-59

The Mountaineer press turns a stingy Kansas State team over just enough in Manhattan, but it was close. The game only took seventeen seconds to get weird. Jonathan Holton gets called for some kind of a taunting foul during the first defensive possession and the whistle blowing never looked back.  The first half gave us 25 total fouls, 27 total turnovers, and both teams shooting under 30%. Both West Virginia and Kansas State refused to let up on defense causing the half court offensive sets to be sloppy at best. Luckily, the Mountaineers were able to go 10-13 during the first half from the...

Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings: KU Back On Top, WVU Stays Put After Close Win

Another week, another round of unexpected results in the Big 12 conference. Things are getting crazier by the day in the Big 12. #1 in our rankings last week, Iowa State, didn't show up ready to play in Lubbock against #10 in our rankings (who I so expertly proclaimed would have a tough time getting even a single conference win), Texas Tech, and went home with an L. West Virginia had to scratch and claw and get slightly lucky to survive a brutal home loss to TCU, and Oklahoma has quietly lost four out of their last five to fall below .500 in conference play. Let's get to the rankings: 1....

West Virginia Mountaineers Football Recruiting Update 1/26/15

More good news along the offensive line... We can go ahead and start with the big news since everything was again largely quiet with one exception. And that one exception was another a big one, literally, coming along the offensive line in the form of Rob Dowdy. For those who don't remember, Rob Dowdy was very high on the Mountaineers' board but would end up committing to Pitt over a wide range of offers (though some did end up backing off potentially due to grade concerns). However after the coaching changes over there he opened his recruitment back up and Dana and the staff went after him...

The Mountaineers narrowly escape with a wild overtime win. In a game that saw 64 total fouls called, West Virginia escapes with a one point, 86-85 victory over Texas Christian on the foul line. WVU had a nine point lead in the first half and an eight point lead late in the second half and could not pull away from TCU. The Horned Frogs were kept in the game by Kyan Anderson's 22 points. In overtime, TCU had as much as a five point lead with 1:22 remaining. The Mountaineers shot just 22-32 (69%) from the free throw line, and missed a few crucial free throws late in the game with the game on...

Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings: Conference Depth Continues To Show

There's very little separating the middle of the pack in the Big 12, and winning on the road this season is nearly impossible. The Big 12 continues to prove it's the deepest conference in America. Randomly pick any team 1-8, and on any given day they may be the best in the conference. As Fran Fraschilla has said, their isn't an elite team in the bunch, but winning on the road anywhere in the Big 12 outside of Fort Worth and Lubbock is going to be a task. Let's get to the rankings: 1. Iowa State Cyclones, 14-3, 4-1 (previous rank: 2) Iowa State lost by one point on the road at Baylor, but...

West Virginia Mountaineers Football Recruiting Update 1/20/15

Not too much movement on the recruiting front, but WVU creeps closer to the finish line with several prospects and another transfer becomes official. Apologies for the slight delay with this article, but don't worry you haven't missed much. However at this point in the game no news is really good news for WVU, as with 24 commits right now we have more to lose than gain. However that still hasn't stopped the staff from going hard after a few targets still on the board. Gary Jennings has been a hot name lately, as the 6'2" wide receiver has recently be tweeting pictures of himself and Lonnie...
