West Virginia HOLDS ON Despite Baylor’s Fourth Quarter Comeback Attempt, Final Score 38-36

West Virginia HOLDS ON Despite Baylor’s Fourth Quarter Comeback Attempt, Final Score 38-36

Fun fact: Baylor is now 0-7 The No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers survived a fourth quarter comeback by the Baylor Bears to move to 5-2 on the season. That’s really all I have to say about this game right now. Maybe once my blood pressure drops to a somewhat normal pre-hypertension level, I’ll be able to formulate some thoughts on this game. Until then, here are some facts: Will Grier completed 26-of-37 passing attempts for 375 yards and five touchdowns. David Sills V now has 15 touchdowns on this season, and whoever is in charge should probably go ahead and hand him the Belitnikoff....

West Virginia Football Recruiting: Mountaineers pick up commitment from top offensive line target

The one-time SEC commit has been a West Virginia lean for a while, but finally made it official today. The West Virginia Mountaineers have a little bit of a commitment streak going, after a second big time recruit committed to the program. Blaine Scott, an offensive lineman from Portsmouth, OH, announced his commitment to the Mountaineers this evening on Twitter. Scott has been a West Virginia lean since he decommitted from Ole Miss back in the summer, but finally pulled the trigger and made it official today. Blessed to further my education and athletic career at West Virginia...

The Spavital Effect - Examining how the Mountaineers have evolved offensively under their first-year OC

The Spavital Effect - Examining how the Mountaineers have evolved offensively under their first-year OC

The time feels right to take a look at how the Mountaineers have changed offensively under Jake Spavital One of the most discussed storylines coming into 2017 was Dana Holgorsen's decision to hand the reigns of his offense over to his old buddy Jake Spavital. Through 6 games it's hard to find too much at fault with that decision, with the Mountaineers ranked 5th nationally in both scoring and total offense, but I want to take a closer look some of the differences between this year and last year. Play Selection Let's start with the basics. The most obvious place to look for year-to-year...

Will Saturday's Comeback Over Texas Tech End Up Being Dana's Louisville Game?

Will Saturday's Comeback Over Texas Tech End Up Being Dana's Louisville Game?

The Mountaineers were resilient on Saturday and fought back from being down by 18 points. They’re now standing at a crossroads... After the two plus hour drive home from the amazing comeback we witnessed on Saturday, I had a thought. For those that know me...shut up. For the rest of you, it was this: Did we just witness Dana's "Louisville 3OT game?" Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean to compare the team's personnel (Pat and Steve were freshman vs. current roster of starters) or the game itself, but more so what that game did for the program under Rich and what this one could do for...

West Virginia Shows Resiliency, Determination in Come-From-Behind Win Against Texas Tech

West Virginia Shows Resiliency, Determination in Come-From-Behind Win Against Texas Tech

Previous versions of the Mountaineers would have lost this game, but the growth by Dana Holgorsen kept the team in it until the end. Personal growth can be hard to experience at times. It takes a large amount of self-reflection and intent in order to grow as a person. You have to experience a hardship, determine how to prevent in the future and then enact those changes on a day to day basis. For head coach Dana Holgorsen, part of that growth as a head coach was removing himself from the play-calling duties. Yesterday, that personal growth paid off with a win over a ranked team. Make no...
