West Virginia Mountaineers Vs. Kansas State Wildcats Preview: Season 108 Episode 19 - The One After The Supid Stuff Went Down

West Virginia Mountaineers Vs. Kansas State Wildcats Preview: Season 108 Episode 19 - The One After The Supid Stuff Went Down

Time to dig deep and move on... OPENING THOUGHTS I can sum up what happened in these last two games with the following video. This K-State game is the “Come to Jesus” game for the Mountaineers. Going up against Kansas after a poor three-game skid would be bad to say the least. We had bad stretches like this in the 2010 season (when we went tot the Final Four), so not all is lost. But it is clear that the WVU can’t rest on their laurels after the Baylor win. This weekend, we’ll find out which direction our team will go from here... WHEN/WHERE Date: Saturday, January 21st Tip-Off...

Sooners steal one in Morgantown, 89-87 in OT

Sooners steal one in Morgantown, 89-87 in OT

WVU was unable to stop OU defensively and could not rely on the half-court offense when they needed it most. Despite having a 15-point lead midway through the second half, the West Virginia Mountaineers dropped a game inside WVU Coliseum for the first time this season, 89-87 to the Oklahoma Sooners in overtime. The Sooners (8-9, 2-4) broke through the press easily most of the night, turning the ball over only 12 times in the first half while forcing 13 from the No. 7 Mountaineers (15-3, 4-2). Overall, OU outshot WVU 49.3 percent to 43.7 from the field. WVU is now 0-2 in overtime games this...

Big XII MBB Power Ranking: Bubble Watch Starts Now Edition

Big XII MBB Power Ranking: Bubble Watch Starts Now Edition

College basketball season is headed for several extremely strong weeks and bubble fortunes are getting made, so this edition we’ll also take a look at where the Big XII teams fall on the bubble. Power Ranking Kansas Jayhawks: Kansas’ resume to this point has been kind of lack-luster. Their only marquee win came against Duke back in November, so there’s plenty of reason to doubt the Jayhawks as national title contenders, but in the realm of the Big XII, until someone can beat them at the Phog, they should remain the favorite to win the conference. West Virginia Mountaineers: ...

West Virginia Mountaineers Vs. Oklahoma Sooners: Season 108 Episode 18 - Bummer Sooner

For the first time since Buddy Hield waited too long to shoot a three-pointer, West Virginia and Oklahoma get together OPENING THOUGHTS Before I get started, I just want to remind you of something wonderful: Ha-ha yeah... Okay, let’s get down to brass tacks. Many people on the Inter-webs have been complaining about how WVU is ranked behind Baylor in the AP Poll. If you didn’t know that, here’s the top ten: WVU went up 3 after blowing out Baylor and escaping Texas, Baylor went down 5 for being smeared in Morgantown and getting by K-State on the road. So what? In college...

Jake made an immediate impact at Cal and reunites with two former mentors here at WVU. Late Friday night, it was announced that Jake Spavital would return to the Mountaineers. Jake was brought on as the offensive coordinator for the Mountaineers, replacing Joe Wickline’s role there. Wickline would move to coach the offensive line to help replace former co-offensive line coach Ron Crook, who’s contract was not renewed. Jake, Joe and head coach Dana Holgorsen have a history together, having worked at Oklahoma State. During their one year stint at OSU, the three set numerous school...

William Crest to transfer from West Virginia University

William Crest to transfer from West Virginia University

The move isn’t that shocking, to be honest. West Virginia quarterback turned running back/wide receiver/defensive back William Crest will be leaving the program, as announced today by Mountaineer head coach Dana Holgorsen. “Will is an outstanding young man who always represented the Mountaineer football program well and was a great teammate,” Holgorsen said. “He told me he wanted to pursue his football career and education at another institution, and I support him and wish him nothing but the best with his future plans.” The move doesn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who...

Quarterback William Crest To Transfer

Quarterback William Crest To Transfer

The last of the big three recruits from 2014 is now leaving the program. West Virginia quarterback William Crest, Jr. is transferring out of the program. Crest entered the program in the summer of 2014 amid a torrent of hype but never fully panned out. Crest appeared in one game in 2014 before suffering a shoulder injury and applying, and receiving, a medical redshirt. He appeared in 11 games in 2015 as a quarterback, running back and receiver. Crest appeared in seven games last season. "Will is an outstanding young man who always represented the Mountaineer football program well and was...

STORM EVERY COURT! The newly crowned No. 1 team in the nation won’t get to hold on to that ranking very long, as the West Virginia Mountaineers took down the Baylor Bears this evening in Morgantown in front of a sold out home crowd, 89-68. The Mountaineers (14-2, 3-1) started things off by jumping out to a 3-0 lead to start the game, and didn’t give up the lead at any point despite the Bears (15-1, 3-1) threatening in the back end of the first half.
