Mountaineer Legend "Hot Rod" Hundley Has Passed Away

The Mountaineer family mourns the loss of one of it's most famous members. Rod Hundley passed away today at the age of 80. A magician on the court, Hot Rod came to Morgantown from Charleston and became only the fourth collegiate player to eclipse 2000 points (he did it in an era when freshman weren't eligible to play). After his stellar career at WVU, he was drafted into the NBA by the Cincinnati Royals and traded immediately to the Minneapolis Lakers where he played for six seasons and retired due to bad knees. After his NBA career ended, he became a broadcaster, most notably for the Jazz,...

WVU Basketball: We Never Had A Chance Or The Refs Screwed Us

We're not saying that bad officiating caused WVU to lose a game that was decided by 39 points. But, this season has tested the WVU faithful's sense of justice. Those of you who go all the way back with us know that this blog used to be in another place under another name. What you may not know is that blog was created and run mostly by men with law degrees who had ties to WVU. We don't see Dr. Charley West, The 25314, 5th Year Senior, or Country Roads quite as much as we used to. In fact, my life now prohibits me from writing as much as I would like here, but this is a subject I have wanted...

2015 NCAA Tournament: West Virginia Knocked Out By Kentucky 78-39

Kentucky proved to be the #1 everyone said they were as they double up West Virginia 78-39 in the Sweet 16. Daxter Miles Jr. called his shot before the game even started. "36-1" is how Kentucky would end its season. The Wildcats had other thoughts as they trounced the West Virginia Mountaineers 78-39. This was not the Mountaineers night as they delivered one of the most anemic offensive performances in recent memory. In a game where a foul was called on average of once every 48 seconds, the Mountaineers were never able to get into a rhythm on offense or defense. On the other hand, the...

Meet Kentucky: A Q & A With @MsTylerThompson of Kentucky Sports Radio

Tyler Thompson's bio on KSR says it all: "No, I will not make you a sandwich, but you can follow me on Twitter @MrsTylerKSR." She's smart and funny and has carved out a nice niche for herself as news editor at the massively popular KentuckySportsRadio.com, a site dedicated to news on all things University of Kentucky Wildcats...

Sweet Sixteen Kentucky Wildcats Scouting Report: The View From Inside

As the Mountaineers prepare to take on Godzilla, the Death Star and Apple all rolled into one, I thought it might be a good idea to break down the roster and show that THEY'RE NOT A MACHINE, THEY'RE A MAN! Hello friends. We're still friends, aren't we? Don't hate me because I went to the University of Kentucky - hate the state of West Virginia because they don't have an architecture school. I know this is a tough week but we can still be pals, can't we? I mean, I gave you the Mountaineer Retweet. I've written thousands of words read by literally DOZENS of people. Doesn't that count for...

Despite all eyes being on the West Virginia basketball team, WVU football recruiting is still giving fans something to talk about. West Virginia's football staff has been quietly adding to the fold this past week, announcing linebacker Zach Sandwisch as the newest commitment in the Mountaineer class. With all the excitement around the basketball team's NCAA tournament run and now upcoming Sweet Sixteen showdown it was easy to miss Sandwisch's announcement but when it comes time to don the pads, no one will be missing this kid. At 6'3" 220 lbs., Zach is already a load and will only continue...
