Adrian Peterson's father says son remains open to Vikings return but 'things have to work out'

By Chris Tomasson ctomasson@pioneerpress.com Adrian Peterson’s father said Thursday his son remains open to returning to the Vikings and the Peterson camp isn’t putting any sort of deadline on the team to determine his status for next season. The star running back was reinstated by a federal judge following an NFL suspension for a child-abuse incident. The NFL had ruled Peterson wasn’t eligible for reinstatement until April 15, but the NFL Players Association sued the league on Peterson’s behalf to be immediately restored to the roster. Adrian Peterson suspension vacated by district court judge

The NFLPA earned a big victory on Thursday, as a district court judge vacated the arbitration decision upholding Adrian Peterson's suspension. Now we wait and see what NFL, Minnesota Vikings do next. The San Francisco 49ers play host to the Minnesota Vikings in 2015, and we are one step closer to finding out if that game will include running back Adrian Peterson. Late last year, Peterson was suspended under the personal conduct policy for his child abuse case. As I understand it, based on that decision, Peterson was eligible for reinstatement on April 15. Thursday morning, federal district...

Adrian Peterson's impact on the Cowboys

IRVING, Texas -- Now that U.S. District Court Judge David Doty has ruled in favor of Adrian Peterson's reinstatement to the NFL, the future of the Minnesota Vikings running back should start to come into focus. The Dallas Cowboys have been viewed as a natural landing spot for Peterson, a Palestine, Texas, native, but several obstacles are in the way: age and price. Though there is no doubt Peterson is one of the best -- if not the best -- runner in the NFL, the possibility of any team making a trade with Minnesota is difficult.

Tuesday (Maybe fresh start is best for Vikings, Peterson) edition: Wha' Happened?

There is a nagging suspicion that Adrian Peterson, even as he approaches 30 in a month, is primed for a strong 2015 season. Peterson has always been best when motivated (see: his rookie year of 2007 after getting passed over in the draft and 2012, coming off the major knee injury), and this year he has the added benefit of rest. (The counter-argument is that rest=rust and Peterson might not be in prime shape, but it’s a long time between now and September). The practical Vikings fan might think, “If Peterson has 1 or 2 more good-to-great years left in him, it sure would be nice if they...
