49ers roster page switches Alex Boone from G to G/T

The San Francisco 49ers updated the roster page on their official website in an interesting way. Alex Boone was adjusted to include both guard and tackle. It probably does not mean a lot, but it's worth some speculation. The San Francisco 49ers maintain a roster page on their official website, listing out every single player, along with their position, height, weight, age, years of experience, and college. This roster page is not maintained by football operations but rather some combination of the PR and digital team. Much like the depth charts in the weekly game releases, we do need to...

What position will Alex Boone play in 2015?

The 49ers got Alex Boone some work at left guard in minicamp. Will he stay there when training camp arrives, or move back to the right side? The San Francisco 49ers had virtually their entire roster on hand for mandatory minicamp last week, including offensive lineman Alex Boone. The 49ers have started Boone at right guard since he moved into the starting lineup in 2012. He has swung out to left tackle when Joe Staley has had in-game injuries, but right guard has been his spot. Last week at minicamp, Boone spent much of his time at left guard. He was primarily working with the second string...

Golden Nuggets: Minicamp Starts

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet The 1st day of minicamp started Tuesday. Anquan Boldin and Alex Boone, who skipped OTAs, made their 1st appearance at practice. The 2 areas I am most interested to see during minicamp are the at the running back and receiver positions. First report from the running back position is that Kendall Hunter is looking strong coming back from injury. It's been a couple of seasons since we have seen Hunter running healthy and he was always a productive runner when he was. He...

Minicamp practice report, Day 1: Aldon Smith hurts right foot; Boone at LG; Wilhoite finds action;

Aldon Smith sat out nearly the final hour of Tuesday's minicamp practice after sustaining an apparently minor injury to his right foot. Smith did not seem overly concerned, nor were team trainers, who initially wrapped his foot in ice and drove… Continue Reading →

Jim Tomsula talks right tackle, Colin Kaepernick, Vernon Davis, more

The San Francisco 49ers held their first open practice of 2015 minicamp on Tuesday. It was preceded by Jim Tomsula speaking to the media for the first of three such sessions. Here is a full transcript. Do you have a full house here? Do you have a good attendance for this mini camp? "Yeah, yeah. Full house, right? Yeah." Everybody is here? "Yeah, everybody is here." One thing, I think, a lot of people are wondering about is whether G Alex Boone could move to right tackle given former 49ers T Anthony Davis' retirement. Has that been talked about and where will Boone practice these next...

Alex Boone in Bay Area, expected to attend 49ers mandatory minicamp

The San Francisco 49ers have been without Alex Boone for their offseason workout program. The mandatory part of the program begins on Tuesday, and Boone is expected to be in attendance. The San Francisco 49ers return to practice on Tuesday for three days of mandatory minicamp, and Alex Boone is expected to be in attendance. Boone has skipped the team's voluntary workout program the last two months, but Matt Barrows is reporting he is in town and expected to be on hand. I have heard from a source as well that Boone is in town this week. This is not surprising development. Matt Maiocco first...
