Washington Redskins May 15, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy The Washington Post reports that Redskins running back Alfred Morris said he wasn't satisfied with his performance as a rookie last year when he had 335 carries for 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns. “I left a lot of yards on the field last year. Looking back on film, a lot of it was my aiming points in certain runs, or I was too tight and I couldn’t get outside," he said. "Being more patient with my cutbacks — I tended to cut back too soon. I was blessed, and I definitely don’t take it for granted. Last year’s behind me — I’m beyond that.”
May 15, 2013Washington Post CBS Sports's Pete Prisco thinks so. The Insider gives Alfred Morris plenty of love, but when we posted about him yesterday, much of the discussion in the comments centered on whether Morris might be a better back in Year 2 even with a yardage total below 1,613. There's also the possibilities that Morris won't have as good a second season, that teams -- given an offseason to study the Redskins -- find a way to slow the run game down, or that Robert Griffin III misses significant time, and that affects Morris's play. Hogs Haven Alfred Morris tells this year’s class of unheralded rookies: Act like you’ve been there before | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports"Don't go in with a chip on your shoulder -- at least, I couldn't have done it that way," he said. "Don't go in looking to prove anything. You just be who you've been since Day 1, and you'll catch their eye. Hard work pays off. You stay focused, you stay positive, and don't get down just because things didn't go the way you expected them to go. It's gonna be a grind, and when you get that opportunity, you make the most of it." Redskins star Robert Griffin III...

Hogs Haven Each year, the analysts at Pro Football Focus compile their list of the top 101 players of the season. It's a refreshing contrast to the list that NFL Network compiles based on votes by the players, although there's been speculation that very few players actually take part in the voting process altogether. With Pro Football Focus' list, they don't take position or reputation into account, so that essentially eliminates the top 10 players comprising nothing but quarterbacks, despite their importance. They also don't take past years into account, so a breakout player like Casey Hayward w...

Hogs Haven During this off-season there has been a lot of speculation and debate about how each of the rookie field generals will fare their sophomore season after leading their teams to the post season, but what about the soldier in the trenches Alfred Morris? Some people think that his productivity will be slowed or halted by injury, defensive game planning, new rules, or the lack of Robert Griffin’s presence on the field. None of these factors should be an area of concern in Alfred Morris’ production on the field except the new NFL rule for running backs, which many running backs, including A...
Washington Redskins April 22, 2013Florida Times-Union OVERVIEW The 12th running back drafted last year, Alfred Morris rushed for 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns to help lead the Washington Redskins to the NFC East title. But despite the Morris’ success, waiting until the sixth round to find an immediate starter remains the exception rather than the rule. “There has always been good running backs found later in the draft,” Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said. “But if you think a guy is a difference maker, you have to take him high.” read more

Hogs Haven Ranking the Redskins Outside Linebackers | Fanspeak Washington Redskins BlogTaking a look at where the Redskins Outside linebackers rank going into next season. Alfred Morris does not count against the salary capRGIII’s fellow rookie star, who rushed for 1,610 yards last season plus 80 more in the playoffs, is merely the 54th-highest paid Redskin. Running back Alfred Morris, who makes less (the minimum $480,000 plus a $30,775 bonus) than linebackers Roderick Muckelroy and Vic So’oto (555,000 each), technically doesn’t count against the salary cap right now. RGIII’s Baylor teammate...

Hogs Haven With Alfred Morris steamrolling his way out of the 6th round and into the Redskins record books, our editors tossed out an interesting question for us, "who is our favorite Redskin drafted after the 5th round?". I must admit this topic necessitated some quick research on my part, and I was surprised by some of names I turned up. I found Monte Coleman in the 11th round of the 1979 draft, Brian Mitchell (2nd in total yards only to Jerry Rice in NFL history) was a great grab in the 5th round of the 1990 draft, Mark Schlereth was picked in the 10th in 1989, Mark Rypien (MVP of Superbowl...

Washington Redskins March 29, 2013The Huddle Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris said he does not expect to deal with a sophomore slump next season because he is working out hard this offseason to improve his all areas in his game. 'I set the bar very high, I love a challenge. If you give me easy, I don't want easy, I want hard, I don't care. A sophomore slump? I don't see it happening. I'm going to bust my butt this offseason. I've got to get better. I can't be satisfied with a year when, as a lot of people say, you're only as good as your last performance. I love what I do and I have fun doing it and I want to do it as long as possibl...
