Brandon Carr mans an island vs. Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has lauded the man-to-man ability of his cornerbacks. It took until Week 2 for Marinelli to break it out. After the Cowboys were largely exposed in zone coverage by the San Francisco 49ers, the corners, specifically Brandon Carr, played much better in man coverage in Sunday's win against the Tennessee Titans. "We were able to get after the receivers out there on the islands and let the big boys up front apply pressure to the quarterback and make him feel uncomfortable," Carr said.

Brandon Carr feels good after final tuneup

ARLINGTON, Texas – It’s unusual to see an established starter on the field in the preseason finale, but the Dallas Cowboys coaches thought Brandon Carr could benefit from a little more work before the games started mattering. Carr, who missed most of training camp and the first two preseason games due to his mother’s death, played the first series Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. "I felt good to get a couple of plays under my belt,” Carr said.

Brandon Carr makes emotional return

MIAMI -- Brandon Carr, who missed the first two weeks of training camp dealing with the death of his mother, made his preseason debut against Miami. It was an emotional experience.  “I had my moment because it was my first time out there without her,” said Carr, “but I know she’s with me, and one of the things she taught me was how to handle adversity and continue to do my job.” Carr made one tackle and Mike Wallace caught a short comeback route in front of him.
