Raiders TE Jared Cook a constant for QB Derek Carr

BALTIMORE - Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has had little continuity with his receiving targets this season between trades (Amari Cooper) and injuries (Martavis Bryant, Brandon LaFell, Jordy Nelson). But he has relied on tight end Jared Cook, who leads the team in receiving yards (609) and touchdowns (five) and ranks second in catches (47) behind running back Jalen Richard. In an inconsistent season for the Raiders’ offense, Cook went into Sunday’s game at Baltimore ranked sixth among NFL tight ends in catches and fourth in receiving yards. Cook also matched his career-high with his fifth...

Keon Hatcher the next Raiders receiver addition asked to step up right away

Another week, another newly added receiver who the Raiders will look to for a boost in their wide receiver corps. Keon Hatcher, who spent 2017 on the Raiders practice squad and the offseason with the team, is back. The Raiders re-signed him off the Packers’ practice squad as the latest receiver who they will ask to make an immediate impact. The latest injury happened to Brandon LaFell, who was lost for the season with an Achilles injury. At one time LaFell was in a similar position to Hatcher. LaFell went from inactive most weeks without a single catch, to starting for the Raiders...

LaFell to IR ‘big loss’ for Raiders, but Jordy Nelson has ‘chance’ to return this week

Within a few weeks time, Brandon LaFell went from afterthought to the best receiver the Raiders had. Now he’s done for the season. The 6-3, 210-pound receiver ruptured his Achilles tendon in the third quarter against the Cardinals Sunday and has been officially placed on injured reserve. “It’s a big loss for us,” Gruden said of LaFell. “He was good. He was a good player,” Gruden continued. “He beat Patrick Peterson on a touchdown pass yesterday. Went up and got a huge third-down conversion. Touchdown against the Colts. He did a lot of things for us. He played multiple...

Week 11 snap counts: Ateman ‘confident’ starting in first NFL appearance, plays nearly every snap

Week 11 snap counts: Ateman ‘confident’ starting in first NFL appearance, plays nearly every snap

For the second time this season, a Raiders wide receiver went from being inactive every game to starting and playing almost every snap. Brandon LaFell did it in week eight, going from being inactive nearly every game of the season without recording a single catch to starting and playing 92% of the snaps. Seventh round rookie Marcell Ateman has now done the same. LaFell got his start after the team traded Amari Cooper to the Cowboys. He came in as Coop’s replacement, while all other receivers’ roles remained the same. Those other receivers were Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant who have...

Raiders lose another starting WR serious injury, rookie plays hero in first NFL game

“We think it’s bad,” Jon Gruden said of the Achilles injury to wide receiver Brandon LaFell. A few weeks ago LaFell was active for the first time as a Raider and immediately following the trade of Amari Cooper to the Cowboys, LaFell became Derek Carr’s top target. This week, he was to be relied upon even more heavily with the knee injuries to Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant. Midway through the third quarter, LaFell would join Nelson and Bryant on the injured list. He suffered a hamstring injury and didn’t return. Soon he was carted to the locker room and it is feared to be a...

Arizona Cardinals vs Oakland Raiders second half game thread

The Arizona Cardinals are in a battle with the worst team in the league, can they win it? Well, the roller coaster 2018 season for the Arizona Cardinals kept on track. The lows, two Josh Rosen interceptions that resulted in two Oakland Raiders touchdowns, the second when Brandon LaFell toasted Patrick Peterson. However, Rosen also threw two touchdown passes, the first a laser to Larry Fitzgerald: Rosen makes up for his INT, a dart and TD to Larry Fitzgerald. pic.twitter.com/ScTYK46WNS— Seth (@SCoxFB) November 18, 2018 The second, was a great job by Rosen to recognize the defense and...

Raiders-Cardinals final injury report: Jordy Nelson OUT as is Cardinals starting safety

Raiders-Cardinals final injury report: Jordy Nelson OUT as is Cardinals starting safety

As expected, the Raiders receiving corps is quite depleted this week. Starting wide receiver Jordy Nelson along with Martavis Bryant are both OUT for this week. With at least Bryant expected to miss multiple weeks, the team added Saeed Blacknall from the practice squad and expect to see more from 7th round rookie Marcell Ateman As non-threatening as a starting trio of Brandon LaFell, Seth Roberts, and Dwayne Harris sounds, the Cardinals will be short in defending them. They will be without starting safety Budda Baker this week.
