February 4, 2013Dallas Cowboys Blog | ESPN Dallas Brian Moorman Position: Punter Type: Unrestricted Summary: The Cowboys signed Moorman as an emergency fill-in after Chris Jones suffered a knee injury when a punt was nearly blocked. Moorman ended up staying for 12 games after Jones was unable to continue with a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Moorman did an admirable job, averaging 44.6 yards per punt with a 38.9-yard net, but he slumped down the stretch. Why keep him: Jones will be the punter for this team, barring something unforeseen, so perhaps Moorman comes back as insurance in training camp.
