An early look at the free agency decisions ahead for the NFC South

An early look at the free agency decisions ahead for the NFC South

The Falcons aren’t alone in having some big decisions to make with their dollars. The season’s over and all that remains is to watch, apprehensively, as the Saints try to keep moving forward. It’s fair to wonder what the division might look like in 2019, though, and that’s what we’ll take an extremely early look at today. We’ll do this again closer to the draft and after the draft, as well, so consider this a preliminary look at who these teams might lose, their cap space, and what that might mean. Atlanta Falcons Big name free agents: Grady Jarrett, Andy Levitre, Bruce Irvin,...

The Falcoholic’s 2018 Falcons positional review: Defensive line

The Falcoholic’s 2018 Falcons positional review: Defensive line

How did the defensive line fare this season? As our positional review keeps moving along the merry lane, we’ve come to a bit of an awkward impasse with the roster. The Falcons’ defensive line is one of the more maligned groups of the season, a group that just didn’t have enough firepower to begin with and didn’t use what they had very well. We saw more Grady Jarrett dominance, a hot start for Takk McKinley, Jack Crawford and Deadrin Senat emerging, the curious case of Vic Beasley and a late-season surge for Bruce Irvin this year, which feels more electric in writing than it looked...
Falcons’ Irvin is getting home, but will he stay?

Falcons’ Irvin is getting home, but will he stay?

With the clock ticking fast on the Falcons’ season and perhaps his time with his hometown team as well, Bruce Irvin’s not overly eager to talk about the prospect of re-joining the squad next season, but his locker mate had a thought about that not-so-outlandish possibility.

Falcons’ Brother of the Week vs. Panthers

Falcons’ Brother of the Week vs. Panthers

For the Brotherhood! This past weekend, our Atlanta Falcons handled business against the Carolina Panthers, 24-10. Last week’s Brother of the Week DE Bruce Irvin put in another solid performance, having 2 tackles and a QB hit. This week’s Brother of the Week is none other than DT Jack Crawford. Jack’s a good friend of mine, and I was personally thrilled to see him have a great performance on Sunday. Jack finished the day with 3 tackles, ½ sack, and a career-first interception which prevented a possible Panthers’ touchdown. With the defensive line being a question entering the...

Falcons’ Brother of the Week vs. Cardinals

Falcons’ Brother of the Week vs. Cardinals

For the Brotherhood! This past week, our Atlanta Falcons decimated the Arizona Cardinals 40-14 in the final home game of the 2018 season. Unfortunately, we did lose last week’s Brother of the Week selection, RB Ito Smith, to injured reserve, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Just a reminder, this segment highlights a Falcons player who did a lot for the Brotherhood, but won’t necessarily get the headlines. Falcons players such as QB Matt Ryan and/or WR Julio Jones won’t be selected in this segment, as everyone is aware of their efforts. For Week 15, I think DE Bruce Irvin is...
